I had actually never read this book as a kid. I just discovered "Where the Wild Things Are" this year when I read it for a Child's Lit Class. Knowing this great author died, well it made me sad. Such a loss. :( R.I.P Maurice Sendak. Thank you Subeta for honouring such a talented author.

Aw, so sad that Maurice Sendak passed away! :( I knew this reminded me of something when I first saw it. Thanks Keith and staff for this wonderful tribute item! Now I'm going to search up his other books he wrote that I read when I was little, but can't remember the titles to.

oh my god. I didn't know he died.
I loved that book as a kid. And my best friend LOVES Maurice. This is so sad.
One of the few "celebrity" deaths that has impacted me. I'm heartbroken..

The particular quote in the description becomes all the more incisive when read in the voice of a million keening children.
To who's idea it was to put this here today - thank you for reminding everybody of the man whos profound vagary and eccentricness has left a curiously large, amorphous pawprint on the hearts of so many people.

Oh and you used my fave line as the description! Love this. And I have to admit, even when she says it in the movie I get a little teary eyed. I think this is my second fave tribute item, after the Heath Ledger ones, of course. :)

Nice tribute. Saw the header and thought it'd be a tribute to Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys at first but still like it.

RIP Maurice Sendak. Thank you for giving a kid a reason to dream, an imagination bigger than the universe, and happiness to children (and adults) everywhere who've read your stories.

I actually never read those books, at least not that I remember, but I recently saw him on Colbert and was impressed with his wry sense of humour.

:( I'm still a little in shock from this news tbh! This is an adorable tribute though! I was just watching the movie version a few days ago for the first time in a long time, how surreal.
