Currently, the fire has burned over 18,000 acres. The President is coming tomorrow. Over 32,000 people have been displaced by this fire.
Why are you butthurt about not getting a tribute item for YOUR tragedy? Again, this isn't a dick-sizing contest. A tragedy is a tragedy, and I will continue to hope that my area comes out of this unscathed.
Also, Captain and I are home safe. Figured I'd let other Coloradans know. Keep it up, firefighters!

we had some of the worst wildfire seasons in california a few years back but nothing like this. :( i hope everyone in colorado stays safe and thank you subeta for such a thoughtful tribute.

The people that are complaining that they didn't get a tribute item are disgusting me. Are you seriously jealous of a tragic event? It was a nice thing for Subeta to do. They can't make a tribute item for every single disaster. Say thank you and stop complaining about something so trivial.

I am currently in Colorado, and have seen many of the state's beautiful areas obscured by thick smoke. I met several of the evacuees. If you want statistics, over half of the nation's fire oppression aircraft are currently in Colorado.

initiative* on a tribute (hence my assumption that someone on staff is from Colorado, to either draw the item itself or bring the awareness) but that scale is a little screwed.
Yes Colorado is horrible that so many homes are in danger. Yes it could become even more terrible (but hasn't so far). Everything that destroys lives (or even ruins lives via destruction of property) is extremely unfortunate, and my heart goes to Colorado right now, as does everyones (and yes, I have family there, though thankfully not in the current immediate vicinity).
I just think it's odd that this was singled out over so many other fires, even those that were more destructive within Colorado.

"27,976 fires had burned 3,959,040 acres (about double the previous record), 2,862 homes (1,939 of which were destroyed over the Labor Day weekend), and over 2,700 other structures. 47.3% of all acreage burned in the United States in 2011 was burned in Texas"
Three MILLION acres. There were also several deaths, including two volunteer firefighters.
Subeta can't tribute for everything. They can't. That's a fact. Artists have to take the iniative

While I don't currently live in Colorado, that is the state that I consider home. Especially the Springs. I spent a good part of my formative years in Colorado and this fire is horrid. I pray that all those dealing with this fire personally stay safe and that the firemen and women fighting it will be able to beat before too much more damage is done. Thank you for the item.

Beautiful.
Everyone in Colorado is in my thoughts -- though the loss of homes and acreage is tragic, I hope that there continue to be no lives lost, and that the weather conditions turn in the firefighters' favour quickly!

Aw I thought this was pretty thoughtful. Although my place isn't very close to the fires so far, it is really scary seeing them in the distance and having friends who are being evacuated from their homes. Even if there's been bigger fires before, this is still a rough time for a lot of people and I'm sure they all appreciate things like this.

Thank you for this item. As a SoCal native I already have a healthy fear of wildfires, and I'm particularly concerned about this one because several family friends live in one of the evacuated communities. They're safe, but we have no idea if their homes survived.
Stay safe, everyone! You're in my thoughts.

I live in British Columbia Canada and wild fires are a way of life for us every summer. I know how frightening they are when they're TOO close. It takes several generations for the burned areas to regrow. My heart and prayers are with the people of Colorado.

I didn't realize this was because of the fires. Now I'm second guessing putting it in Creator Destroyer's TC.

@Tribunal:
This is an historic moment for Colorado and is a massive event and tragedy. I understand that other wildfires have been larger -- the Haymen Fire here in Colorado several years back was nearly four times the size of this one and still has a massive scar region. The reason that this is such a large event (and now a national emergency, I believe) is because the fire is merely a few miles from the second most densely-populated city in the state, and is forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes. Flying W Ranch, a foothills community, has been completely destroyed. Garden of the Gods, a beautiful and one-of-a-kind state park, is threatened. Pikes Peak, America's most popular and easily-recognized mountain, is obscured by smoke and directly threatened by the flames. Hundreds of homes and commercial buildings are at risk. Yesterday, the sky was black with smoke and the sun was red from the poor air quality. I evacuated late yesterday evening, and it was like driving through a war zone. My safety zone thirty miles north is now threatened. Fortunately, nobody has lost their life in the fire as of yet.
While I understand that other wildfires have been larger, and my heart goes out to anybody affected by those fires, this is not about acreage consumed -- it's about lives threatened. And yes, several staff members I know of live in Colorado, but I highly doubt that is the reason the item was created.

Tribunal, this isn't a tragedy dick-sizing contest. I live in Colorado Springs. I evacuated to my parents' house, which is now in danger. This fire is massive, terrible, and out of control. Sure, no life has been lost (thank goodness), but do you have any idea how much of our acreage is gone?
15,300. That's 24 square miles.
While I am grateful that my property and my friends are safe, this fire is still a tragedy. Does someone have to die in order for an event to be labeled tragic?
Thanks, Keith, for bringing attention to what we're going through here.

This is really lovely but.... Colorado's death/destruction toll doesn't even equal that of other states who've suffered wildfires over the last few years (for example, at one point last year every single county in Texas was on fire. That is an INSANE statistic).
Doesn't mean any one of them isn't a tragedy, just a bit off that this one got singled out. I suppose someone on staff is from Colorado?
Still a nice item and thought, though, just not where my mind went when I saw it since no other similar tragedy got a tribute.

Oh my goodness... You know I'm sort of glad Subeta releases these items because I had not heard of the Colorado fires until now, and it's a great way of updating / informing / spreading the word. My heart really goes out to each and every one of you in Colorado! Please stay safe and well!

Oh, wow... Thank you so much for this. My boyfriend is stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado and he may actually lose his summer Leave because the relief efforts are so desperate in the area. My heart goes out to everyone in Colorado Springs and I hope things are brought under control soon.

I live in northern Arizona and while I'm not near the big fire in Colorado we had one here only a few miles south of me which lasted for weeks, just last month. Closest I've been so far. We were lucky. Hope all the others who are threatened come out OK.

This is such as sweet thought and a beautiful gift. I live in Boulder and have spent much of my morning preparing for evacuation (we are in pre-evac at the moment) it's nice to know others are thinking of us and the other fire-laden places all across our state. Thank you Subeta!

My hometown is Colorado Springs; I just moved away a couple months ago. It's really hard seeing what my friends and family are going through right now. Thanks so much for the gift - like others on the site, this means a lot to me personally. <3

Very pretty, and thanks for the thoughts. My dad was just evacuated yesterday, I hope he has a place to stay, he was looking at homes for us to move into later this summer. I hope everyone else out there is safe as well.

Thank you subeta for the support. It is a very scary site. Yesterday about 3p the sky was covered with smoke and the sun shone through it and cased an orange glow in my home. Right now at least 100 homes have been burned and flying w ranch is gone. It's very heartbreaking to watch homes burn on tv and knowing that someone's howl life was burned and is gone. Right now my home smells like a campfire. I live about 20 minutes from the mountains and is just a sad situation. Anyone interested in donating you can donate to http://careandshare.org/ they are organizing help for those evacuated and to help support the firefighters. Please keep praying for us. TY

PLEASE, PLEASE, STAY SAFE EVERYONE.
If it looks like you are going to be evacuated, get ready NOW. You don't want to be getting ready the moment you've been told to evacuate and leave something important behind (like a child).
But most of all, please just stay safe
