Business Executive Contest - Winners
Please join us in congratulating the winner of the Business Executive Human Avatar Contest - wordless.
We received a tremendous amount of entries - around 850! - and we were really impressed with the caliber of human avatars. Rather than going with five runner-ups, we decided to choose another seven avatars to use in the feature as well. The avatars above were designed by norfie, Amidalea, Taylby, whisperly, User not found: shou, Tintinnabulator, and Catalyst, in respective order.
The grand prize of 250 CSC will remain the same and each of the seven others will receive a prize of 100 CSC.

@Catalyst You're welcome! I figured I'd give it a shot because it was driving me nuts, and I knew if it were my entry it would bother me that it wasn't showing accurately. <3 And don't sell yourself short!! You both wore the same 'suit' and you both did a great job! I was just saying if I were judging I would have picked one or the other, not both. :)

Probably because most of the contest entries were white.why's everyone except one person white tho
I seem to be one of the few who actually likes what was chosen. Y'all are fucking crazy bitches.
@Catalyst, bless your heart. I believe she had eyebrows, but don't feel like that yours should be the one not chosen after all we do not know whether yours or the other girl was picked first and therefore I do not think either should be eliminated. Especially not after being told you have won.

Hi guys, I made the lady at the end of the last row. Just want to throw my 2 cents in here; I don't think staff should have picked mine seeing as she has the same top and skirt as another? I think that's a really weird decision they made there especially seeing some of the incredibly diverse and cool ones there were in the forum. Secondly - SHE WAS MADE WITH EYEBROWS. This is bugging me so much, for some reason I couldn't get them to show in the forum no mater how many times I tried, but @Kellijuana has managed to post the HA in these comments with her eyebrows (thank you for that <3) so that's what she's really supposed to look like, maybe (hopefully) the staff can somehow add those in if they're going to use her.

I didn't enter this, so I'm not being biased or anything, and I do think that the winners did a fine job, and they deserve a congratulations. But 2 of these have the same outfit, like the same skirt & top. I know that there were a ton of entries, so I'm honestly confused at how some winners came out looking so similar. xD
And...the last one is missing eyebrows, I feel like if someone has to dress so clean and professional that they would have to have eyebrows as well? LOL
Just my two cents ^^

Congratulations to the winners! My favourite is the lovely lady with white hair and glasses. :)
Definitely love some more smart separates to add to the business clothing pool.

@milliona I don't see an Eastern Asian, but with the various tones of skins some people could be mixed or other races besides white. The 1st guy on the second row could be Latin or mixed.
I would like to see more business like dresses to come out of this. I have to admit the first thing I searched for was pencil skirt when making my first outfit was a pencil skirt, but I chose red to match the brief case. Then went with the blue one from the blue building and a cardigan instead of a blazer.
I know I chose male hair, but I know if I were able to work everyday as an executive I could not deal with the past waist almost butt length hair I have in real life.
I do hope we can all overcome the division. Because this is only second one of these I have participated in and it was so fun for me. I will not delete the three characters I made for the contest.
If I never win. I still adore playing with these virtual paper dolls. :D

'Diversity proportions' aside it's kind of low to assume that 'all but one' are white. Is the East Asian lady up there 'white'? Is the Hispanic/Latin looking man up there white?
Like yeah I wanna see some obvious racial disparity but like way to go clumping everyone who isn't the darkest base skin color into one category y'all.
This isn't even to mention the other issues both on the side of the whiny userbase and the contest itself.

Hoping this shows up because it's killing me not being able to see @Catalyst eyebrows!

PSA: If you want to go and live in a land of sunshine and rainbows, where the staff makes no mistake and everything is perfect, don't check the site feedback & suggestions forums, and the news comments because you're going to see that Subeta users are used to a high standard of quality, and when that standard is not met...well, the userbase voices it.
The experiment contest winners probably were not what I'd have chosen for winners, but there was diversity. 4 winners with the goop, 3 winners with the tentacles, 3 winners with the rainbow hair.
The restriction was that we had to use one of three items out of 20 000, and yet, we had pretty distinct winners.
I guess I just expected the level of judgement we got for the last contest, where it went really well. This one didn't, at least to me.

WaaiitaaaaMinute! What do our staffers look like? Did they each pick one to represent themselves? ... but then the number wouldn't have gone from the expected 6 winners to the announced 8 winners... hmmm a thought though. XD

Wow. Would y'all like cheese with all of that whone? Seriously. The levels of complaining on this thread are over 9,000. Not only that, but it's turned into a giant circlejerk that looks like it belongs far more on Tumblr than Subeta. As for the "reward giving"? You're not Subeta staff. Please stop acting like you are. The staff have every right to choose whatever winners they want. Don't like it? Don't play on Subeta, and don't enter the HA contests. Entering a contest does not entitle anyone a prize simply for participating. By entering the contest, participants knew fully well that they might not win. It's called a "contest" for a reason.
While I like the winners, I'll have to agree that there isn't really very much variety in the outfits. I'm not really surprised I didn't win, because I realize now that I completely missed small details like jewelry and the like, so this isn't me whining about not winning. I just hope that the staff takes all this feedback into account next time they do an HA contest, especially being more clear with the guidelines of the contest if they actually mean something very specific, as the case seems to be here.
How I read and understood the guidelines: "BE creative, it could be everything, with every colour scheme, as long as it resembles a professional buisiness man/woman" I really thought about: how could a subetian business man look like, not just the ordinary ones in real life. Thinking from another perspective, creating something that differs from the real world.
Reality: "Black/White/Navi pencil skirt(!) wearing buisiness thing, which you see everyday in boring reality" If you want to see THIS then please say so.
This isn't meant to be rude, and the subeta staff usually does great work, but please let us be more creative and give those, who have another point of view on things, more consideration.
While I am at it, I like some of the winners very much and one of them was one of my favs out of all the entries :) my congratulations :)
Yes, a lot will say that I am whining and this isn't construvtive criticism.
But it is and I am not whining. Whining is this: "iuhg483957 gibberish gibberish WHY DIDN'T I WIN.." and so on. I never said that and I will never ever say. I am proud of my HA and I was happy to be able to enter this contest :)

PLease excuse me, if something comes off as rude, because english isn't my native language. I tried my best to explain everything clearly :)

I think the next time there's an HA contest, there needs to be more guidelines as to what you're looking for, as in 'color matching' and such. I spent so much time getting the colors and everything just right and I didn't even place. I'm not being a sore loser, honest, I'm happy for the winners. I'm just bummed because I put so much effort into it.

congrats to all those that won.
also to all those that were more diverse with their entries, it was really nice to see how creative and inclusive people got in this contest.

I like how the winner is just the right amount of casual mixed in, he's an executive so he can be a bit more lax, but nobody should point that out to him, oops. I can see why people don't like the lack of variety, but it makes sense, that's the stereotypical outfits I think of when I think business executive, and if they're all going to be used in a way, it makes sense they match.
Do you remeber the Male HA contest?

Congrats on the winners!

Damn there's way too much sodium in these posts. Otherwise, congrats to the people who won, and still congrats to the people who didn't uvu

don't get me wonrg, the winners did awesome jobs. this is subeta though, so im not sure why they arent trying to distinguish subeta and earth as two separate entities instead of making subeta mimic earth

i felt mine was business professional and i actually used color!

Congratulations, dear winners :* Despite the fact that I think you all truely deserved to win this contest, it dissapoints me to see the lack of variety chosen, which many of us do. I simply thought that (especially with this large number of entries) a winner of each category would be picked. For example colour of business clothing, I remember seeing even anime type or gothic/punk looking entries...

Even though some categories are less common (perhaps even less neat), it is more fair to people who think originality will be rewarded as well.
@Assea To be honest, I did not even noticed the differences in the ethnicities used and also could not find any comments implying such things... I think you misunderstood some comments (correct me if I am wrong), since most refer to the black and white colours of the clothing used and not the colour of the skin tone. Nontheless, I assume almost everyone agrees with you (even without being a business person themselves) that this job is available to everyone regardless to gender, eye colour, ethnicity, et cetra.

@Futurama, he grabbed my eye right off. I guess I liked that he was older. Several people did older ones.
I guess @Futurama, I saw him being the boyfriend of her...No outfit foundNo outfit found(The One I used for the contest.)No outfit foundThis one who went for the red pencil skirt instead of black. I like her because she reminds me of my mother.
I made 3 of each of my characters. I loved my girl with blond hair, blue eyes with the too dark spray tan and my sharp dressing fellow of African decent who by the way is also a violinist or a fiddler.

@Just_Call_Me_Tracy
Sorry about that! I was waiting for this to be over so I could change my skin. Tbh, I felt like that HA had no chance. Haha.

There are doctors and lawyers and business executives... and they're all made out of ticky-tacky and they all look just the same.
I loved these. @Gryffindor 's No outfit found @Echant's
@Futurama's bald guy minus the cigarette unless he is a back in the day guy when men smoked at work. I cannot share him as he appears on the contest threads. He has one of Survival threads diseases now. The same one her HA has now. It is not that I do not like the winners I truly do. Plus I do not want to complain because I wish they would hold more of these contests. <3 I also love Subeta. It is my favorite site on the web even over Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr etc. Also if I hurt one of the winner's feelings I would feel horrid. Anyway I just wanted to share some of my favorites.

Apparently the 1% is alive and well in Centropolis. Back to your back country holes, dens, and moons, peons!

Wow, I would have done grayscale if I'd known, damn. And I'm sure it was probably a wardrobe issue, but an avatar w/o eyebrows? Really Subeta? YOU CAN'T WEAR COLOR AND BE A CEO BUT YOU CAN SHAVE UR EYEBROWS COME RIGHT IN. Yeah ok.
Not that my entry was the be-all-end-all, by any means (I got kinda frustrated with the wardrobe bugging out horribly by the end) but matched colors with a statement piece is not at all uncommon for higher-ups, especially, as others have said, in a world like Subeta. Where their grand leader is robe-laden fire haired dude who carries around a mythical bird.

I really don't see what the point in entering these contests is anymore.
It seems that the exact same HA is picked time over time, and all of the winners look exactly the same. I guess color is not part of the business sector.
I am not saying the HA's don't look good, but man, they are all the same. A little bit of variety would be nice to see.

Those of you looking to win the next Flash contest, just make it look like a member of staff. Preferably Keith. Guaranteed placement!
I saw so many colorful and diverse HAs in the competition, and I was for sure that Subeta staff would pick a unique, quirky CEO. A few people have said that this is what business people look like in real life: black and grey suits, white skin. But this isn't a real office. It's Subeta. And I was expecting to see a wonderful variety of winners. Not disappointed in the quality of HAs chosen, they are all great, I just didn't expect everyone to look so similar.

Congratulations to all the winners, I think you all did a great job on your business HAs! My only criticism is that there were a lot of similarly dressed POC, it seems like we're rarely even honorable mentions. :(
Congrats to all the winners! I guess I will nvr win HA contests, your taste is so different from what I really like

If anything, I'm just embarrassed that one of my entries was also wearing that skirt. The shame!
Congrats to the winners But like all of them are wearing
like the same clothes... But I think Shou did an
amazing job! Keep up the good work subeta staff

I usually don't say anything bad, but I can't right now. Wow. Zero excuses to choose two avatars with the same top AND skirt.
Is this a 50 Shades of Grey thing? It's okay to wear colors other than black. Just saying. xD
Is this a 50 Shades of Grey thing? It's okay to wear colors other than black. Just saying. xD
All of these are fabulous! But I do have to agree with a lot with what other people are posting...
Out of 850 entries, you couldn't pick 10 that weren't exactly the same in places ._.? I didn't enter but I'd find it insulting that all the other entries were rejected in favour of identical outfits...
Congratulations to the winners. I enjoyed looking at everyone's entries. I loved seeing many people of color in the entries. I made my male entry a man of African decent. I also made one of my entries a woman approaching retirement age. I enjoyed seeing that others had did that. Perhaps different staff picked their winners is why two of the are avatars are dressed alike. I do not know if popularity plays any part. I did notice some of the entries posts had all kinds of likes on their posts, but could that not be that they had great entries? I wanted to win this really bad, but I did not. I will not be bitter and I will enter every time they have a contest like this because I just love it. It is like playing paper dolls to me. I usually do not post so long a post in the news, but I do not like to see division amongst us. Again congratulations to the winners. To all the participants. You did well. I loved seeing all the entries. <3
@Tintinnabulator
is the 2nd last outfit your? this is how i understood, but i may be a bit slow.
if i'm right, that's the one i like best <3 congrats for being chosen among the winners ^-^

Can't wait to see what this contest has been about!
Can't wait to see what this contest has been about!
echoing everyone else that i'm really disappointed with the lack of variety given the amount of entries. and tbh, i'm not just talking about the outfits either

I like them. I do not get the controversy at all. But then again i am european and not so 'racist' sensitative. This is how most people who work in big companies look like. Yes it is a mix of black, navy and beige. People look a like out there. Guys always wear suits, seriously you didn't notice? Or am i the only one with an office job?

Congrats to the winners, that is surely a very nice Easter surprise to wake up to! ^-^
They all look very business like. Like I imagine a conservative business type to be.
I didn´t expect that you had an exact scheme in mind, color-like and style-like.
I did a research before creating and found out that nowadays, especially in creative professions,
a more varied style is common. So I am a little bit astonished that Subeta goes all the
classy and monochrome way without much variety. That´s the difference between team
and us, they know for what profession the HA will stand in the end, we not. :-)

Why is it considered complaining when we make a comment about 2 of the outfits being EXACTLY the same, out of 850. I would say that is a valid thing to discuss here. Can we not discuss here?? Right under the pictures of the 2 identical outfits?

tbh it would make the staff -- who are running a social business on the internet -- way more petulant than anyone complaining if they refused to have any more site events just because sometimes people are mean online. If you add contests and relative anonymity together, you're going to get complaining. Is some of it unnecessarily mean-spirited? Yes. But shutting down parts of the site because of that would honestly be hilariously immature. And I have a higher opinion of the staff than that.
90% of the comments are just upright rude. Not only towards the Subeta team, but also towards the winners. I can't believe how much crap I read in the comments below and how many of them were just filled with pointless whining and jealousy. It makes me sick, really. Feels like kindergarten all the way.
Honestly, if I were part of the Subeta team, I wouldn't want to host another one of these events or do ANYTHING like that for the users ever again. Man, I feel SO bad for the team right now. They do a lot of things for us, but just a small portion of the userbase seems to really appreciate it.

Ha Ha! Of course everyone considers their complaint to be "constructive criticism".... Seriously, very nice business exec HAs congrats to the winners! I knew mine was too far out when I made it, but she was to fun not to enter.
exactly, what everyone is? why is half of these almost the same? its a little silly?
I would prefer colour for business outfits... would have been nice
but whatever I guess admins have no tastes lol
congrats winners....

two of the girls have exactly the same outfit on? I think this shows the lack of formal business attire on the site and a bit of a lack of creativity with the feature - business attire can be much more interesting than this!

congratulations to all the winners! these are all absolutely stunning. my personal favorite is @shou — just superb! * v *

The only one i like is the girl with clutch, everyone else is just plain blah. Why was it not specified that it 'blur and blend into the walls' attire? Srsly with the phenomenal diversity in female wears on site and just as lacking for male wears its highly ironic that two of the female winners are wearing the exact same outfit XD

Well, three almost exactly the same and then men in ties and suits. I see nothing unique here. I really would like to know how they were judged, because if there were 850 entries, then why is this sameness the result? Truly curious here.
Too many sour grapes. The winners followed the brief which is why the won. Congratulations! :)

I don't really see anything wrong with them. This is what I think when I think "business attire." A lot of black, gray and navy blue. Mind you, I don't work in the corporate world and I'm very thankful, so maybe I'm just perpetuating a stereotype. shrugs @Amidalea's is my favorite, but I like them all. Congrats to all the winners!

Want to clarify that none of these are bad HAs individually and their creators didn't do a bad job. Like Heroine said earlier, "Don't get me wrong, the winners all have great outfits, but the overall selection is way too bland considering how colourful and unique some of the entries I saw were."
Congrats to the winners!
I gotta say i do agree with the commentary below tho. Like, I work in a big ass international law firm, and unless there is a v.v.v.v. Important meeting everyone just rocks the dress/pants and blouse+blazer/cardigan look. In many colors. It just seems a bit...bland.

@Kellijuana Hello, thank you! :) I really wasn't expecting to win lol (I was hoping for my other entry to make it) so it was a pleasant surprise.

@Saren Yup, unfortunately boring white males pretty much still rule the world. I saw the revolution (all of them, in the 60's) pushing for change and I actually thought that by now (I'm nearly 60) things would have changed a LOT more, but everywhere I look white men are still ruling the world. Check out most movies: written by men, directed by men, acted by men, scored by men. EVEN there, in the creative world (most creative worlds: popular books, art, music) the main thing we see are men, usually white men. I wonder if that will EVER change. It's somewhat better. When I was a kid, if your mother had a job outside the home you--and your family--were to be avoided. It was "unseemly" and a threat to all that was "holy" in our culture. Then the 60's tried to set people sideways and for awhile it looked as if things were going to change, and it DID for a bit. I have to watch what I say, cause I have a tendency to say things that are political and controversial. So, I should go back to bed now.
...You picked literally identical winners with no specific personality to them and basically no layering whatsoever? ...I need some couture before I yak. Someone post something stylish for the love of all things lovely

Wow, I can't believe my smarmy mustachioed gentleman won! Just goes to show you can't go wrong with a pencil mustache. Yay! (I just noticed he's the only one who isn't holding something! Odd)
Congrats to the rest of the winners! They all look fab!

So.... another boring white male NPC?
Pass.
Even if this is a troll by the staff, it's flat and unfunny.

Our ex-CEO used to show up to work in a plain gray hoodie and jeans. I guess that outfit would have never won.
As for a female CEO, i always imagined a simple Marissa Mayer (Yahoo's CEO) look.

Feel bad for the bottom right woman, I've been the only brown person in a work environment, the comments you get aren't awesome.

(Surprised at how disappointing this collection of winners are, esp first place... judging didn't go super well?)
Winner only won cause they used that new jacket :P Nah, I kid. They all look super nice! Mine had too much color I guess XD Mine could work at Google! ouo Congrats to all winners!

@Aeon I was also disappointed that the winning entry was a traditional male HA--he's got facial hair so that pretty much sums it up, it's probably not female. As I mentioned earlier, I was born in 1955, so I'm nearly 60. I was hoping that the views of people had changed a bit so that the number one business executive could actually be a woman! This is why the US has never had a woman in the White House (not yet) because even on a site where the staff are probably all under 35 the idea of what is to be taken seriously (who is most believable as an executive) is male. At least one of the HA's that appear to be female (of the other winners) looks more serious and business like than the one that won. They're all well done, I'm "just saying. . ."

with 850 entries and you being "really impressed with the caliber of human avatars" this just begs the question of why the hell are two of them wearing literally the same outfit, (arguably three if you count the white haired lady because it's basically true except save for very small differences ) also a+ diversity in skin tones amirite. no but im seriously getting the feeling that choosing the one black HA who is wearing basically the same outfit as another HA entry was a cop out. yikes.

#1 Congrats to all!! ^_^
#2 @Amidalea is my absolute favorite by far! You rock! <3
#3 Yeah... the two girls wearing the same outfit.... shouldn't that have been a 'who wore it best' moment in the judging to pick one? :/ Or did we look at the winners all white and say "There's a different color base, grab it!"
That entry would be great on it's own if it had eyebrows. But the two same outfits?? Pick one.
Though the uniformity in the winners makes me even more curious about the feature coming out. I wonder if it's an "assimilate!" sort of company... plot? Maybe the two matching girls will be besties who like to pretend they're twins. Or maybe they're adopted sisters so they play it up... who knows lol REASON HAS NO PLACE HERE!

Honestly, all of the HAs being so ridiculously identical really bothers me, but the fact that they're all wearing the same colors
(navy/gray/black/white) isn't a true peeve in my opinion. I'm not sure where some of the commenters on this announcement work, but those colors are considered professional and are very common in the workplace for that very reason. In fact, some workplaces would consider it against their dress code to where more colorful/fun attire. Maybe that was just the type of formal wear that the staff (or whoever voted) saw fit for this particular feature they are working on. Could they have chose one colorful person just to mix things up? Sure. (They would probably be considered the quirk in the office) XD
Bottom line the "clone" look they've got going on is down right irritating, but the color scheme doesn't seem like a true issue to me.

I decided to create looks that I knew wouldn't win... because I pretty well what kind of look would win from the very beginning. Most likely male... With a pleasant approachable appearance and a fairly monochrome color scheme. Ta-da! Proven correct... Whatever. I understand they had a certain look in mind. (That does beg the question as to why they decided to turn this into a contest... But...) The part that bothers me is they didn't reward diversity among the runner-ups.
Still, congrats to all the winners! You all did create lovely HAs. I just wanted a few wild looking execs I guess. LOL

I dunno why people think this is about conservatism in the modern workplace or something. They weren't holding a contest for Most Average Businesswear.

@Nekoschu: I totally hear what you're saying. I truly would have liked to see more variety in the winners, since there are many types of business executives. The non profit businesses don't have to be "as corporate" as others, but they still have to attract people with money cause they need money to do whatever it is they're trying to do. Unfortunately money makes the world go around and I think the pretty dress (with or w/out a blazer) is a great look for the office, but it probably would never fly in corporate places (big law firms and I'm too tired to think of other examples).
It would be SO great to live in a world where money and competition don't exist (Star Trek, the federation of planets, a peaceful world w/out competition) and if we DID live in that world it would be great to dress any way you wanted to (and still be taken seriously). It seems that in most sci-fi stories about Utopian futuristic places everyone wears nondescript "uniform" clothing. But wouldn't it be great if we could be at peace and not competitive and still wear pretty dresses--or ANY sort of clothing that doesn't look conservative? I think we're on the same page here.

I've been working for the same business for 5 years, I saw our CEO every morning at 9:15am, for about six months and I never saw him wear a black suit with a light blue tie.
He favored cream. And navy. And purple.
Moral of the story : my boss is more creative in his ways of dressing up than Subeta's creative department is, when it comes to choose business wears.

Shucks. One day I will at least place in one of these things. Oh well. Congrats to the winners! I guess Subeta has less business-y attire than I thought as I see a lot of similarities between the winners. 0_o I saw most of these items in the wardrobe and thought that people would use them, which proved correct, and so I tried my best to differentiate myself by not using them, if I could help it. Note to self: Next time go with the crowd. xD

@Cerredwyn
idk, I worked with an executive director of a national non-profit, and she just wore colorful print dresses appropriate for an office. Actually, I never saw the women at the office wear suits or even a blazer over a nice top and pants. I blazered the hell out of the place though xD honestly I think I was expecting more blazer + dress combos.

I think part of why there's so much monochrome and little variety is that the contest didn't really specify whether they wanted a more "financial sector" executive or a "design/arts" executive, because people working in the latter fields have a lot more leeway clothing-wise than people who work in a more old-fashioned corporate environment (as far as I know). Without that distinction made or what the contest was actually for revealed to us, a lot of entries probably toed the "more conservative" line, meaning less colour and fewer risks taken.

I appreciate your views but Subeta is not going to be the best platform to post your manifesto on business attire. It's a petsite, it doesn't have to follow the real world that precisely.
Ehhhhh. Don't get me wrong, the winners all have great outfits, but the overall selection is way too bland considering how colourful and unique some of the entries I saw were.

Food for thought: I was born in 1955 and I witnessed first hand the revolution in our society (at least in the US) away from conservative culture. There were actually many revolutions, but in particular the revolution away from "the establishment" (think "hippy" or watch Mad Men for a very well expressed example of this) and as much as people have tried (cause that was 50 years ago) the idea of what constitutes a "business executive" hasn't changed much. Part of me likes this (the uniformity, the conservatism) even though I am NOT conservative, and part of me feels sad that the world still revolves around this image that a business pro must look very "buttoned up" and not particularly colorful, everyone in grey, black and white, etc.
So I guess this is still the overwhelming idea of what's needed at work in a professional environment in order to look the part.
I can only say that I think the main reason this is still overwhelmingly the ONLY way you can dress (and be taken seriously) if you're working in almost any sort of office is this: People do NOT want to be distracted from the business at hand by anyone's clothing. This is the reason that everyone still dresses "alike" in the real world of "being taken seriously" and why (I think) it's reflected in the choices for winners of this contest.
There's a very good reason why people dress to all look alike (same reason that children wear uniforms in some schools) and that is: if you remove the distractions of style and competition to "out do" someone with what you're wearing (at work, at school) it helps everyone to focus on the job at hand (or the schoolwork, which is why some schools require uniforms). So it seems that the world still operates on the principle that if everyone looks the same (not too flashy or colorful or interesting) that people will be focused on the job, getting it done and doing it "right."
I think that's why the winners all look so much alike. I'm not "in the world" so I only see it through movies and a bit of TV, but I see that even 15 yrs into the 21st century, the very conservative "look" is still the preferred look for offices where business is being conducted. It might be boring but it keeps people from spending a lot of time discussing who's wearing what and spending more time doing their job.
I think this "suit and tie" look (for everyone and in most developed countries of the world) is here to stay. Unless you're working in your studio as an artist (of ANY sort) the expectation is that you "look the part" and fit in and all look alike. I was never a conformist and I didn't want to be promoted into a dead end middle management job so I did NOT dress this way in the business world. I've always liked "pushing the envelope" but I think these contest choices truly DO reflect the expectations of "professional decorum" and even if I don't necessarily like that the world is still very conservative in this way, it seems this is the way it is.
I suppose there were entries that were quite different than this one look--and if there were it's sad that some were NOT chosen, because there ARE different types of businesses and in a few (at least) dressing in a more flashy and less conservative way might be more the norm. But even in an office of a fashion magazine where a lot of the folks are wearing more colorful and "experimental" clothing the CEOs and anyone who is "meeting the public" is still dressing in this "uniform" because it's expected and it says to everyone they come in contact with "we mean business" and that idea is what the world "turns" on.
So I just read over all that I wrote and I've repeated myself (thoughts, concepts, ideas) at least 3 times (and that's just me) and I'm much too tired to edit my own comment, so that's the way it goes.

When I saw the three girls in the same skirt and two of them in the same shirt all I could think "Well... SOMEONE is going to have to change."

@introvert
lol! Oh yes, totally looks like a huge freaking laptop sized "tablet". Spoiled little business pro. lol.
PS- am I the only one bothered by the fact that the winner is wearing brown shoes with black pants? (or is that my fashionista showing?)

@odduckOasis OMG IT'S A REGULAR TABLET OKAY. WE ALL WORK FOR APPLE OR MICROSOFT. THEY SPOIL US. GOSH.

You know what's funny tho? Actual regular ol' exec professionals, like... wallstreet types- they don't own drawing tablets... just sayin'.
Rather disappointed that out of all the ones you sifted through you ended up choosing 2 with nearly the same outfit. I don't understand why everyone thinks that being a business pro means black, but okay... whatever. I had considered going that route myself, but thought when you said you wanted variety, you meant it. So okay then.
It was fun playing with everything, even if the beta wardrobe doesn't work quite well for these types of contest (not every item is available in beta). But still, good to try something new!
Congrats to the winners though! Will be interesting to see why this was done and what it's for!

As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property...
Congratulations to the winners.
Congratulations to the winners.

Reeeeally disappointed that three of the avatars are using one of the same main pieces (skirt), and that two of the avatars are using TWO of the same main pieces (skirt + blouse). And three of the avatars have the drawing tablet XD
It isn't that the avatars are bad, I'm just disappointed in the lack of variety. I saw some really awesome business professional outfits on that thread that were unique, and these avatars all look kind of the same :c

Silver hair lady is my favorite! Congrats to everyone, though, they are all nice :) I do question staff's lack of variety in their picks though, executives don't all wear the same clothes as each other :/

I wonder if staff are going to address this issue. They'll probably just skirt around it.
I have too much time on my hands..

Ngl and say I'm not bummed I didn't win myself lol I'd have loved some CSC to play with! :) But congrats to all the winners! Wondering what the feature is?

@unwritten
If users are preselected and anonymous when we get to vote, it's not as much of a popularity contest, and we probably wouldn't have three characters with the same skirt.
Really, staff dropped the ball. Three with the drawing tablet, two with the directors latte, and I think several males have the same pants as well.
Also, professional is not just greyscale clothing. Really, it's monochromatic, it's boring, and look more like uniforms than professional wear.

@Straywillow, allowing other users to vote for the winners wouldn't be fair. It would be nothing more than a popularity contest.

We have 20 000 wearables and all three females use the same skirt?
Creative department, do your homework. I'm not even blaming the entrants, I'm blaming the jury. Professional =/= uniformity

Please understand that I'm not trying to insult the person who entered, but the selection process still has me really scratching my head here. Like you asked for creativity but then you make the most obvious, inoffensive outfit the grand prize winner. If that's all you wanted why hold a contest at all?
Two look like the same outfit with a tie change.. maybe my eyes deceive. Anyway, congratulations to the winners!
I would suggest allowing the people to help vote for the finalists?

Each are nice individually, but as a group, they are all reallllly too similar. Two of the 4 women are wearing the exact same top and bottom. 75% of all women are wearing the same skirt, 7 of 8 are holding something in their left hand, etc...
WTG staff choosing a bunch of extremely similar HAs as winners. Did no one notice that two are wearing almost the exact same outfit? Lol
850 entries, and you choose 2 of the same outfit
not hating on anyone but pls, you clearly had the variety so why this

Did...people just wear the same skirt? Like there are a crap ton of really nice skirts on-site that AREN'T CWs.
Other than that, congrats!
Other than that, congrats!
Also I don't like to dis the entrants, but the runner-ups used a little more creativity than the grand prize winner. Oh boy, pants and a shirt and a tie. I'm not really that invested but I'm just lollin here

Aww, sad mine didn't get picked. But oh well, I'll try harder last time. Congrats to the winners though. It's also a little lame that most are wearing the same if not similar outfits, but hey, they all look business-y so I guess that was the point.
@introvert
The more I look at classy lady, the less I like her but hey! If that's been an executive, I am screwed.

Wait no, she's wearing crocs or something. I take that back.
Please don't wear crocs to your place of work
(or ever).

This is so square. So many repetitive items in a couple of those avatar. Not to mention that two of them are basically using the same outfit.
There's no such thing as variety in this game page it seems -sigh-

two of the women are wearing the same outfit, and all three are wearing the same skirt. how embarrassing for them.

This is the first contest I felt like I had a decent chance. Congrats to all of the winners. You all deserve it! :)
