HTTPS ?
In addition to some other exciting server changes over the past few weeks, we've fully upgraded Subeta to use HTTPS ?across the entire site.
Put simply, that means your information is now encrypted over the entire site and is a lot more secure!

Can't the bloody stupid Hustler be removed from the top of pages everytime I log in? I DON'T want it there.....

And how much longer do we have to put up with the pusher issue? Holding up most every page again since the change!

I couldn't even propertly do the Battle Quests yesterday, terrible lag... Looks like it's all going a lot faster now.

hmm currently being displayed as https:// with a red diagonal through and a red x over the lock symbol

Okay, I'm computer and mostly internet illiterate so I am taking this as meaning the site will work faster and that's the difference?

For a site that isn't being run by a huge team of engineers, subeta's doing fine. Coding is a clusterfuck y'all. Have a little patience, at least no one's accidentally taken down half the cell towers near a huge city on a holiday. Also, partially encrypted pages DEFINITELY happen on other websites, although most of the time, large websites won't tell you about server/security changes anyway!

I highly doubt they will bring back the older version of the wardrobe. That's all said and done. drawers, I dunno. I love the new wardrobe system and there are features I love the most, like removing items. It took forever to get that section to load in the old wardrobe, and the hair salon. I like how convenient it is now. Buying new layers for SIX months? that's pretty damn awesome. And you don't have to buy those dumb books anymore to add layers. wasted sp in my opinion.
But anyway, this isn't about changing the wardrobe system, this is discussing the new HTTPS addition.... and yah, the lag. Which has totally sucked for me today.

I'm using Firefox and everything seems to be working for the most part, with some lag and an occasional 502 Error. Hate the V3 wardrobe though, since it doesn't have my drawers I can't find anything in it. Please either bring the classic wardrobe back or add our drawers to the V3 so I can use it.

I understand when changes are being made to the site nothing is perfect, and there will be hiccups here and there. What I don't understand, why is this happening so frequently that almost on a daily basis I am having to post on several different boards about issues that should have already been working fine?

Like half of the site is not working for me :(
Can't access the wardrobe, hover preview doesn't work, pets are not loading, shoutbox not working too, etc etc.
I'm missing everything on here. What is weird that I have no issue like that when I'm browsing other sites

Still being told by my browser that the site is not secure since we switched to https. On top of that, still can't access half the site without 502s or lags. Can't use the wardrobe. I don't have this problem on any other site that uses https so I have no idea what the problem is here but obviously something isn't working here.

HTTPS is great, but it seems like images are still being served over non-encrypted connections (even if it redirects).
It's definitely better, though.

I get the this website doesn't supply identity information with the lock with the yellow exclamation point on it next to the web address bar in Firefox when trying to log in here to Subeta. It can take a bit to log in here for those of us with older computers. I've been trying all afternoon just to pick up my pets from training and put them back in again. My lord does the site fight me on it today. I see 502 error pages, blank white pages and pages that just sit and spin and never load all the way. Not sure if its the site or my computer to be honest. I can't afford to get a new pc right now so I have to make due with what I have. I'm happy the site is safe for everyone excellent job .

I'm getting a few 'connection not secure' via Google Chrome, the last I can recall was when trying to get to Esther's shop.

Still getting a yellow triangle over the padlock on the login screen and my password won't autofill anymore. This is the only site this is happening on and has only been happening since https went into place. I created a password that I don't know off the top of my head so that it was secure, so it's kinda aggravating having to type it in every time I log in. I clear cookies at least once per day as well, so not logging out is not an option. Will these issues be looked into?

@Kisrah I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong but server upgrades could potentially take up to a couple of days to be site-wide as rather than a fresh start (like recreating subeta on another server), it's replacing all the old bits and bobs :)

Serpentina
@Sirensong You basically leave a trace of personal information on any site you use, especially if you use the same or similar email. HTTPS encrypts your personal data so that your information is safe, and thus anything linked to that site (like an email address), what's more is unfortunately there are people out there that will just "hack" into (any, even pet) sites and take what they can for fun. All it is is an extra layer of security, and it's better in the long term, even if it means some lag whilst the servers get up and running properly. Also, HTTP V2 that Keith upgraded to allows the server to respond quicker to user requests - like wardrobe items (or if you have a big inventory), this means less overall (hopefully!) lag on their servers in the future, as http/2 is all about speeding things up.

Firefox is still telling me that the "connection is not secure" on several pages, and looking at info for images shows that several of them are still on HTTP.
Link to Keith's avatar image on this page: http://avatar.subeta.net/1.png
Saggi's image from the WSQ news post: http://img.subeta.net/npc_saggitarius.png
And two pet images from recent pet spotlight posts: http://img.subeta.net/pets/feli_gold.png and http://img.subeta.net/pets/serpenth_hydrus.png
If the entire site is supposed to have been upgraded, why are these images (and many others) still showing HTTP? I've tried a hard refresh. Nothing changes.

@Serpentina - won't go near half of those sites, altho I often use Amazon and I do bank online. Those seem to me to be sites which are protecting my financial and other personal info so those make sense to me. I just can't imagine who would care what's in my subeta inventory or how much sP I have.
1
Serpentina
@Sirensong, if you use Facebook, Amazon, Youtube, Tumblr, any online banking, Twitter, or any popular site, then you use https. It helps keeps sites safe and secure from hacking of personal information (especially if you have a card linked to your account).

Sirensong
Honestly don't understand why the entire site has to be 'secure'. No other site I frequent uses https across the entire site.

Just fyi, getting a lot of white screens now. I've cleared my cookies once already and that seemed to help, but still happens.

Is this why I'm getting a bunch of server errors? (like, twice every time I go to a new page?)
I've tried to post this 3 times now.

Lots of lag and 502s on my end. But I have no fear because I know the subeta team is on it!!!!

I'm getting blotches of white if I try to enlarge the screen on my iPhone 6plus. I've gotten a few 502 errors too.
Off I go to do my battle quest and others and see what lag very one is talking about.

Per mozilla: A gray padlock with a yellow warning triangle indicates that the connection between Firefox and the website is only partially encrypted and doesn't prevent eavesdropping.

Fabulous news! I was looking at that and was confused. I do wish the lag would be fixed though.

Why does Chrome put a colored highlight the lock icon and the https in the URL for some instances of some pages and in all instance for some other pages but not at all for others? Based on Google Chrome's page having it highlighted like this is extra information but I'm not really sure what. Is it just a matter of some of your pages being perfectly secure but unidentified to Google Chrome?
Should I worry about this or is this a normal part of your site's current function(s)?

Thanks. But still getting lag and occasional 502 errors.
And still waiting for the snowball shop. I thought it opened on December 1st.

So Keith... does this mean I will stop getting the never ending 502 and 504 errors I have been getting ALL darn day? *hopes so!*

That's great news!
Will the site run quicker? Subeta has been running really slow these past few days with 1000+ users online.

It is crashing a lot but I'm more concerned that the wardrobe isn't working properly because of the change. No one's been able to really use it today.
7
Sadies
The lag is really really bad. I'm glad the site is safe but with such bad lag, can't really get anything done.

Is this why it keeps crashing so much..? I'm really getting tired of the crashes if im going to be honest

Sweet! That is especially good news. :) Got hacked on another site years ago, and let me tell you. You're gonna have a bad time. :/

So the lock with the orange triange with a ! in it next to the https is normal? I've been seeing that for a while now, and was wondering why that suddenly appeared.
