I just honestly loved the fact that there was diversity on here with the names of the actual holidays along with the different items. I don't know what the Christmas items have been renamed too and I don't think that I want to know (I celebrate Christmas) as it'd just bother me too much. I'm still very much disappointed that the old real world holiday items have been renamed. I still stand by the fact that if staff wants to get rid of that then all real world items, France, Germany, US, Canada, Irish and anything else remotely real world should also be removed if people are so dead set against anything real world on here (which is ridiculous). What about all the tribute items and other things that are also on here? Should all those be re-done as well so that there aren't any items at all that even slightly depict the real world? No, they shouldn't. I think all old holiday items just should have been left alone to show that if it wasn't for the different people globally on here theee wouldn't be a site. Unfortunately, very unfortunately, they have been changed, and although the change was made by people who wwee that religion, the items still exist and the names should have too just to show the history of the site and how it evolved from all real world to how it is now. That's all.

Whoa! Wasn't trying to create a controversy. As I started with in my first comment, the inclusiveness on Subeta is truly very much appreciated. It's one of the reasons why I love to participate on this site. I was aware that the renaming was done to remove the name of the real world holiday and have no problem with that - it certainly doesn't offend me (and, yes, for the record I am Jewish). I was just trying to suggest that the new name is not very festive or inspiring. I may be showing my age here, but Long Lasting Music CD makes me think of LP which stands for long playing and was used to designate a record album - as opposed to a record single back when vinyl was being sold. So Long Lasting Music CD, to me, just sounds like a name for ANY CD with multiple songs on it, rather than a CD for a particular holiday. I also think it would be nice to have a single consistent name and suggested Festival of Lights because the name is already being used for the book. I guess Long Lasting Lights Music CD would be okay too, but seems long and maybe a bit awkward.
Ariel - I had heard before that Subeta has Jewish staff members including Keith and Amber (not that I would have been offended by a name change even if they weren't Jewish). I was simply trying to request an alternate (and, if possible, consistent) name change.
Toby - I think you and all Subetans have the right to an opinion no matter what your religion or beliefs. Inclusiveness is an important part of Subeta and something I want to support.
I would like to wish everyone on Subeta a very happy holiday season.

If Jewish staff members have changed the names then I think non-Jewish people need to stop being offended lol

lmfao it has absolutely nothing to do with being PC and just fitting in to the rest of the site?? the items are still themed to the rl holiday so really i think u need to chill and not get so offended over something that doesn't even apply to you

We've renamed all real-world holiday items as we rerelease them, and try to grab others that have the same words in them at that time. I can think of at least 4 Jewish staff members, including Keith and Amber XD

@Lucifer so what? So what if they're real world holidays? Doesn't mean a thing. So does that mean we should do away with all the real world animals and other things on this site that even so much barely exhibit a glimpse of the real world? Should everything be 100% fully Subeta-esque? No. That's the beauty of the site. It incorporates both Subeta AND the real world. These items came onto site before the holidays on here were changed to be more inclusive. Does that mean they should be re-named just because those holidays are no longer celebrated on here? Absolutely not! They should be grandfathered on this site to show the beautiful diversity that this site actually holds! But no, it should all be generic and politically correct and non-real world because that's not how it is on this site now XS It's not right. It just isn't right.

ya'll should prob stop being offended on other people's behalf, esp when one of the staff members who did this is actually jewish
the names were changed bc it's a real world holiday and doesn't have a place within the subeta world, much like christmas being luminaire. the change was necessary, as it's been said before that subeta =/= the real world and they'd rather do away with those direct copies

I'm not Jewish yet, but intending to convert. I think the Long Lasting name is kinda cool because that's what Hanukkah is about, more than just lights. It's about how the one day of oil lasted for eight days. And beyond that, the true miracle of Hanukkah is that the lights have burned for thousands of years with its observance. Plus when I hear "festival of lights" I think more of Diwali I guess? But I agree that "long lasting" doesn't exactly sound festive, especially in the case of the CD, so I'm not sure.
Maybe "Eternal" or "Everlasting" would be better? That connects to the "eternal light" ("ner tamid") that was lit in the Hanukkah story, the light that has to be lit continually in synagogues today as well. I think "Eternal Light Blob Kitty" and "Eternal Light Music CD" sound cool. Or at least stick a "light" in there somewhere - "Long Lasting Light Blob Kitty."
I don't think that the site has anything against Hanukkah with the renaming - it's just part of the trend to rename all real world holiday items. I think that items with "Christmas" in the name have also been changed.
Again, not Jewish yet though so don't listen to me over actual Jewish people.

What the heck?!? I agree with @foolskillersfancy!!! There was absolutely NO reason to rename them! There may be no more Haun...I'm sorry, I just have never been able to spell that name...Festival of Lights items made because of Luminaire, but I totally agree that renaming these items, and if you proceed with the Christmas and any other non-Subeta holiday items, is extremely disrespectful!

Why on earth did you rename all of the Hanukkah items have been renamed? Kinda disrespectful IMO. I know that all of the other holidays have been renamed, but really? No wonder why I thought somehow I had deleted my Hanukkah Blob Kitty! It was name changed. SMH. :(

First of all I want to say thank you for making these Jewish holiday items available again. The inclusiveness on Subeta is always much appreciated.
I would like to know why the Hanukkah Music CD has been renamed as the (in my opinion) overly generic Long Lasting Music CD. That could be anything, and does not feel at all holiday-like. If you don't want to use the name Hanukkah, then you could name it the Festival of Lights Music CD, which would match the available book. Please find a more festive name.
@Wolf_Spirit - thanks for thinking of shylarah. I'm sure that made her happy.
