Sweetheart Zasaba!
Have you been collecting up those candy hearts? The sweetheart zasaba is particularly cuddly for a pet bug, but will happily curl up with an orchid if you need some space!

i've been looking at this since it was released trying to figure out what i don't like about it, and yeah, it's the face.
an otherwise pretty realistic insect sporting a pair of cartoon eyes with eyelids is really ... strange. the art isn't badly done, it just feels like a poor design choice. it's especially disappointing considering it's modeled after an orchid mantis, which is one of my favorite insects. it'd have been way neater if its eyes looked like an actual orchid mantis' eyes.

I agree that the Mahars don't get enough attention. I've had a reborn potion in my vault for years waiting for a reborn Mahar but every fireside it never appears. :(

The Mahar artist is still on staff, it's Bean, and they're most likely working on other things than pets.

i never say anything on these posts because i never want to be that person who's like "where's this pet, where's that pet" but man.... i have been waiting for the sweetheart mahar since this color was released. is there a reason there hasn't been one yet? i'm not trying to sound ungrateful here. the zasaba is great and i love his face. i just genuinely want to know what's up with the mahar's status. does it need a new artist or something?
I was hoping the artists could have gotten a little more creative if the wings were open, but this is still very nicely done :)

Its face is different because it's based off of an Orchid Mantis instead of a standard Praying Mantis. Their heads and overall shape are very different to help with their camouflage.
I do think the shading is a touch flat in a couple of areas, but I personally love the design choice of this pet! I'm probably a little biased since they're some of my favorite insects anyway, but I was hoping to eventually make a character design based off an Orchid Mantis so I'm thrilled that I'll have the perfect pet to represent that now.

Er....I really want to like this, but it looks like it's stick between a blur animation ): What a strange pose/decision to change the face shape
i'm not sure if anyone else will agree, but he reminds me of the duke from moulin rouge! with that cute moustache! i also love his heart shoulders~

it doesn't suit him as well as sun but i made my zasaba sweetheart because it just had to be done, man. IT JUST HAD TO BE DONE!!
Still not fond of bugs T-T not even when pink... I do love the work on this little guy/girl, it is lively and has attitude.

I love this pet so much. The flow of it is amazing, I find my eyes just circling around the canvas and wanting to scoop this guy up into my hand!

I'm glad it doesn't have too much of those weird blue eyes that most sweetheart pets have and it works. Its head does remind me of the Pink Panther though.
