Snow Fairies
We’re doing something a little differently this month in regards to Snow Fairies. From this point until 11:59pm on December 14th, they’ll be floating around site! On the 15th, they’ll be going out a different way. This will switch up on the 22nd, as well. There will be news posts for how they’ll be going out that week! :)
Catching the fairies floating will count towards the Fairy Catcher! achievement.
The Snow Fairies will continue going out by random event all month, don’t worry.

Not sure if this has been answered already, but since they aren't random events anymore... do we still need to release the fairies from our inventories? Just wanted to make sure if it still counted towards the achievement or not?
I just got DOUBLE green snow faires; same color, same page, different event. It was a random event and one floating on the site!
Personally, I liked them better as unobtrusive random events. I don't care about fairies or the achieve, so they're just kind of annoying IMO.
Look forward to seeing how the fairies will be released soon. I've just seen one as a floating item.
Are these fairies supposed to be Random events AND floating items as well? I just got both on one page, I know the sites playing up today, maybe its that?
@Bliss The fairies expire once a new one shows up. If you're opening 20 tabs at a time to release fairies, it doesn't matter how many floating items are on those pages, you can only collect the most recent one. If you're trying to grab a lot of floating items you have to limit how many tabs you open at a time.

Much better, already got more of them than thru a week of RE's. Finished the catching achieve too. Now releasing...
I used to like the Fairies. Now I think im going to hate them as much as the pumpkins & flowers

Oh man. Why do you give me an easier way to collect fairies? I have over 10k in my vault... I don't have a problem. coughs I bought quite a bit before the achievements came out. They were dirt cheap then.

Not more fairy tiers! We already have 50,000 snowballs to throw, and 1,000 fairies is a big enough task already. I'm only at 125 after 3 years.

Is it working? When I view my inventory, with all the fairies in it, not getting any achievement.
I've been capped for awhile and went to go check my vault, only had 24 fairies in there. Hope to see them floating about. I guess I should start releasing them.

I was just thinking about how cool floating fairies would be since I've only collected about four from random events since December started ;~;
What exactly is the point of faeries besides the achievement? I don't collect them when i see them, but was curious what they are for?
Throwing this out now, if we're forced to complete more Fairy tiers, then can the prize at least be Fairy Tears?

They still seem to be going out pretty frequently through REs now as well, since the adjustments were made. So hopefully between that and these other ways to get them, it will be a bit easier for people to work on those achievements this year! :)

As the news post says, "The Snow Fairies will continue going out by random event all month" which means right now you have both floating items AND random events as ways to get them. The floating items part will change to a different method later, but the random events will continue throughout the month alongside the other methods for getting them.
Floating items are a common part of a lot of site events. You can hide them with custom CSS if you find them obtrusive.
The achievement for freeing the fairies has nothing to do with how you FIND the fairies, and is still awarded for releasing a certain number of them from your inventory. Fairies you free still count towards this achievement as always. Fairies you find count towards a separate, different achievement for finding them.
