One Drop

What the Dungarde told you has been on your mind all night, despite your efforts to distract yourself on the internet. Eventually, you settle down and fall into a fitful sleep, full of nightmares and unhappy endings. When you wake, you don’t feel very hungry, but you force down some breakfast before heading to Skelly Manor.

@cAIn reading your comment was delightful and put a lot of what I was thinking into words and made me feel a lot better so thank you for that

@Strange Nailed it. Since subeta's player base is mostly American, they really, really, really don't get what it's like to be gay in other countries since we're no longer in as much danger here. Being gay does matter and does affect people, although we wish it didn't. I'm sorry. Good luck.

@ Strange I'm cishet and will be very sad if this story has a tragic ending. I really like Ian and Jaxin

So because this damn plot has been nagging on my mind all day (good job Subeta making me worry about these friggen pet site characters) I've thought of a few different ways that this could be resolved.

Spoiler tags just in case I'm somehow right about one of these:

Spoiler (click here to toggle)
There, 6 ideas. Some of them may not be as elegant as the others, but I'd take any one of them over the current "two options and they both suck" path that the story is currently hinting towards. While I don't subscribe to the "every ending has to be a happy ending" ideal, I do have a very strong sense of morality and if a character is going to suffer something like this, then in my eyes, they ought to deserve it. And let's be real here: Neither Jaxon nor Ian deserve to have an otherwise wonderful relationship ruined in one of the most heartbreaking ways just because of some green blobby guy who we only just met. And no, trying to justify it with "But Jaxon poisoned a bunch of people!!!" based on a flimsy, last-minute backstory that the Dungarde pulled out its ass is not justification for them having an unhappy ending. Even if that story is true down to the letter - Jaxon has spent who-knows-how-long as a wandering ghost who is bound to one area and can't even manifest for most of the year. I'd say he's served his punishment for those crimes tenfold by now.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Dungarde, but not enough to see a couple separated for literally all eternity just so that it can go on vacation. And now with the reveal that it was the Dungarde itself that had been purposely messing with the radio? Does that not strike anybody else as suspicious!? Also, we only have the Dungarde's word on how bad the Skelly family is. Not to mention, it demanded Jaxon's heart when there are undoubtedly other family members who we could dig up is, in my eyes, a bit too convenient. Why Jaxon? What makes his heart more potent than, say, Jaxon's father? Or mother? Or literally any other family member?

I have faith that the writers have some clever idea up their sleeves, but goddamn if I ain't feeling anxious as hell about this story. I usually don't care too much about the plots on this site but Jaxon and Ian are characters I genuinely love and feel a connection with (Especially being a gay man myself). I watched their relationship bloom last time we had a Morostide plot, and when I heard we'd see more of them this year, I was ecstatic! So having their relationship be put at risk like this has genuinely got me worried - If that was the intention then bravo.

But just... Just.... Please be very careful about how you finalize this story...

Don't pull a Life is Strange on us, Subeta, you guys are better than that.

Okay, I wasn't going to join on this whole discourse, but I need to get it out of my chest, so here we go:

Yes, Esther and Emma are married and happy and, god, I don't think I could be happier about them! That being said, they're only one couple, part of one universe, that is part of a lot of other fictional universes most of us get in touch on a daily basis. And, for those of us who are LGBTQ+, at most of those universes, when we can see characters like us, they're either stereotyped or suffering; sometimes both. That really takes a toll on us, in a sense no straight/cis person will ever be able to comprehend fully.

So yeah, forgive us if many of us are feeling worried about the prospect of this couple, that we have known for a couple of years, suffering. One of the... what? Two? Three gay couples on subeta? I'm sorry if we're afraid.

And as I know someone pointed out earlier int he discussion, in real life, my country just elected a man who said he would rather have a dead son than a gay son, and that parents should beat up their gay kids until they're "fixed". And that happened on the same day I came here and saw one of my favourite fictional gay couples might be endangered. And yeah, as I said before, it takes a toll on you.

I'm not going to judge it until the plot is over, but I needed to let out my fears, because at least for now, where I live, I can still do that freely. I would just like to say that, if you're cishet and think people shouldn't complay because they have a single happy gay couple, that is part of a extremely minority in the media, you really have no grasp on your privileges. This is the NORM for straight people. So yeah, forgive me if I'm not content with another tragic story about a gay couple just because there is a single lesbian couple part of the same universe who has found happiness. I swear some people think we should be eating out crumbs and shut up about feelings.

Again, I'm sorry if I come out as rude, but I do personally believe that there is no need for more stories about LGBT characters dying (so yeah, not a fan of Ian dying to be with Jaxon), being killed or separated... not when those stories are the majority of what we have, and what we see on real life. That being said, I do have faith that Subeta Staff is able and willing to do better than that, like they have done in the past <3

Donteatacowman

I'm also worried about the "bury your gays" trope (which is why I came to check out the comments here at all...) but I have faith in Subeta! There's still another day left of story. I feel like Jaxon being willing to sacrifice himself might "count" without having to actually go through with it. (He's sacrificing his heart...? Something like that?) There could still be a happy ending for everyone, or at least a bittersweet one that doesn't fall into bad tropes.

So I've been reading the comments, and I've noticed some people starting to doubt the Dungarde and honestly, I never doubted him, but as soon as he said we had to choose between him or Jaxon I decided Jaxon haha. Partially because the Dungarde isn't entirely imprisoned anymore, he has an amount of freedom, and I'm sure there are ways to work around the rules. A big part however, was his admittance that he's become comfortable/complacent with his imprisonment, that he'd hardly know what to do with his freedom. I mean, it's not like the Dungarde really has any loved ones or anything in particular to look forward to with his freedom. Jaxon does. Jaxon has many loved ones, and plans, and things to look forward to.

But those are just my feelings. I suppose I'll just progress however I'm supposed too.

wraith

@Yuzu

There's a trope in media called "bury your gays" where gay relationships are characterised by having sad or tragic endings. It's a hold-over from the past where LGBTQ folk were far less accepted, and any non-hetro relationship portrayed in media "had" to end badly, because the characters were being punished for being gay.

Needless to say, people don't take too kindly to that sort of thing these days.
7

Yuzu

Hi, LGBT person here. I'm kind of failing to see what Jaxon and Ian being gay has jack shit to do with the plot??? As far as I see it, this is a sad story about two lovers who JUST HAPPEN to be gay men. Like. Sure, it's an important detail, but like..... why do I feel like everyone is reading WAAAAAY too much into it???? There isn't some deep metaphorical meaning. Calm the hell down.

That point aside, back to the plot, I feel like there's GOT to be more hearts for them to choose from??? What happened to Jaxon's father or mother?? Surely Jaxon's heart is not the only suitable one left to free the Dungarde, right?? D8 PLEASE???
I'm not crying, you're crying..... TT~TT

Okay but seriously though, this really hurts my heart, man. I've seen so man Sad Things tonight im just worn out emotionally lol. I really appreciate everything Dungarde has done and how kind it is but.. I just can't give up on Jaxon. I'm hoping against hope that there's a way to save both of them. And poor Ian too... Jaxon's talking about him living forever and whatnot but with Ian's science and the magic in subeta there has to be a way around that.

ugh i just want these guys to be happy and get a chance to live their lives.
7

somnomania

i'm not crying, everyone else is, this is just from washing my face, honestly. this writing is so good, the story progression has been fantastic, and i've enjoyed watching the dungarde's sprite change each day!

(i skimmed the other comments because apparently people are being dreadful in a lot of them)
2

Bleak_Light

I really don't give a fuck if they're gay or straight. They have both been part of Subeta lore forever and now that we've gotten so close to them emotionally (me at least) I just think it's cruel to not give them (and us) some peace and love in their story. They can be happy together (with each other AND with us) without getting all lovey-dovey squishy pukey about it. What i like best is that they aren't openly overly affectionate to each other. They keep their lives together private. They have the kind of relationship I'd like to have. I'm not a physical person - It's a lot harder to find characters who can have close emotional relationships without physical sexuality (gay or straight) being the focus. Some of us CAN'T have relationships with others for the sole reason that the physicality always seems expected, and it isn't something we can make ourselves emotionally vulnerable enough to give. The constant thoughts of "i'm not good enough. I'm not attractive enough. Are they repulsed/ revolted/ disgusted? will they just start insulting me/ laughing at me behind my back? To my face?" I'm not capable of trusting someone that much with the fear and anxiety that could cause me. I just... can't be touched. I just want to see someone similar to me get what I'll never find. Not tragic, not fairy tale happy endings, just peacefulness and contentment.
Sorry - again, don't really have someone to open up to - but

I mean, let's face it - for most of us sites like Subeta are a pleasant escape from reality. If i wanted to experience drama, tragedy and unbearable heartache I'd stay in the real world.
12

GENGAR

reading the comments more i'm actually pretty depressed at how people are so quick to point out that just because lgbt people are people they need to have sadness and hard times. no we don't. we get that literally every day of our lives. literally anything we watch has the worst endings, barring like... maybe five or ten things. and the fact people have to keep bringing up "there aren't lots of HETEROSEXUAL STRAIGHT PEOPLE IN SUBETA IT JUST HAS TO BE DONE"

no it doesnt my mans. ya'll are being incredibly rude and not caring about the fact that, you know, people Are Hurt that this is technically bury your gays. just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't here

Maybe we can't use Jaxon's father's heart because the Dungarde is actually his father. Makes sense why he keeps sitting on that throne, and why he deliberately blocked communication from Jaxon, and why he knows literally the entire family history. If it's not already Jaxon, that is.

So... Wait just a second...

Forgive me if I'm forgetting something crucial about the backstory here (can't find a transcript log anywhere so I can't check) but... What about Jaxon's father?

Why can't we just dig up that guy and use his heart to free the Dungarde? My memory ain't the best but from what I understand our current list of hearts has been two uncles, an aunt, and a grandmother, right? So... Why can't we just go and raid father Skelly's tomb instead of potentially ruining the relationships/freedoms of characters who don't deserve it?

Correct me if I'm missing some detail here.

I know this reveal has stirred a lot of discussion already, but I just wanted to put a bit of my own two scents here - Just because there are other happy lgbtq+ couples featured on the site, doesn't mean people aren't allowed to be upset over a tragic ending to another - as much as i have my doubts it'll end in tragedy, I too was moved by today's events because of how attached I am to Jaxon, Ian and their relationship. As much as I adore Esther and Emma(god, I shipped them before they where even confirmed) and loved their wedding, I don't feel as connected with them. As a gay man myself, Jaxon and Ian scratch an itch and just click with me in a way the other two can't, and that's become even more clear to me after getting all this new interaction content, and seeing what dorks they are to each other. It's the kind of love I hope to find with someone some day, so yeah that smarts when it looks like they might have to break this amazing thing they've got going off. I wouldn't call it "bury your gays" because obviously, Jax is already dead. If anything, this plotline has been trying to UNBURY our gay, but as it stands this could easily end with two gay men who love each other being split apart, and honestly very suddenly because of how much information the Dunguard was hiding from us. It's definitely more than enough to make anyone invested sad, and that has nothing to do with how much representation is featured in Subeta.

But aside that, like I said, I really don't see this ending in that tragedy. I'm fairly certain the Dunguard is going to turn out to be the Skedhu, mirroring Jaxon's change of heart and allowing him to live. Though I am curious if we're going to get another world boss with this event, and how that'll pan out if we do. (I've been training up my battle pet specifically for world bosses and one hasn't hit yet, lmfao)

MEAT

I'm thoroughly enjoying this plot and how it's gone so far. How casually a lot of it has come off up until this part lends well to making the impact of what happens a lot more emotional. Almost got me cryin'. I love it. I don't really mind whatever the ending might be, happy or tragic, I'd just love to see how it comes out whichever way!

We're very fortunate to have a healthy amount of LGBT+ representation on Subeta. That said, and I'm glad someone pointed it out, Emma and Esther just got married, and are very happy in their little human life.
This plot contains quite a few supernatural and historical aspects. I'm really not surprised that we've reached this kind of climax, given who the characters are as PEOPLE, and never once thought that this was a glaring nod to "bury your gays." The drama makes contextual sense and contributes to an engaging story. As part of the LGBT+ community who is rarely ever represented honestly, I'm really put off by this mindset that characters like this shouldn't star in such stories. Even if that's not the argument being made by some people here, it's certainly coming across that way.

That said, I'm cryin', well done.
8

Suzaku

Considering I never shipped this pairing in the first place, I'm okay with whatever happens. But y'all know that there's no way THIS site would ever separate those two, right? Before everyone starts calling the WAAAAAAmbulance about all the LBGTQWERTYIOP pairings never ending well and everyone hating on the gays, need I remind you that I believe this site's lore has remarkably few heterosexual couples.

The Dungarde isn't the only one who's been isolated from the world for centuries. Clearly, the only acceptable resolution to this plot is for Jaxon and the Dungarde to both be freed, and then go vacationing around the world together with Ian. That would make for an awesome Instagram (Subetagram?).

Come on, staff, don't let me down now.

I'mma clear up a few things from my first comment just in case I've caused anything:
1. I was pointing out that the "bury your gays" trope is applied to media with more than one queer character and LGBT+ media itself.
2. People are allowed to hate it, with good reason.
3. I don't know how this story ends. None of us (non-staff) do. But saying you don't want the site to do something isn't bad.
4. Just because 98% of media follows an outdated trope, doesn't mean there isn't media that doesn't. That doesn't meant people should be silent the other 98% of the time.
On a personal note, a lot of queer people are well over the mistreatment of LGBT+ characters for many good reasons. You are not allowed to tell them they are wrong just because you feel differently.

Also, there is literally no such thing as media without representation.""media representation" characters" is literally every character, ever.
11

Bundy

Oh. My heart. I cry. Please don't hurt me (or Jaxian) this way ;~; But really, it makes me wonder if Ian MIGHT have possibly died from his wounds without us (or him) knowing it. Remember the way the Dungarde initially reacted to his presence? He seemed put off in some way, and we don't know why. Maybe it wasn't just the Dungarde sensing Ian was weak when it came to Jaxon. Maybe he recognized a fellow "spirit" as it were, and didn't know why you were hanging out with him. Either way, you would've thought Jaxon would've sensed something... but maybe being in the spirit realm blocks his ability to detect spirit activity in the human world. Then again, he DID almost panic thinking Ian was in danger..... Anyway! I'm rambling now. Just hoping for a good outcome for these two. I love them so much, and I'd hate to think they'd have to spend an eternity apart. My little heart can't handle it ;~; (Also I love the theory that the Dungarde is in some way a part of Jaxon, and freeing him means freeing them both... oh please oh please oh please let it be true!)
7

VeeJayHedgehog

Maybe it's the writer in me but...Halloween involves joys and scares; Subeta Staff is just playing this up to include both. It makes sense, at least to me.

1

antheraea

I guess maybe I'm just really sick of discussion for stories around queer characters being turned up to 11. It's not "I hope it doesn't turn out this way" with this, it's "this is problematic and shitty 5ever if it turns out this way" and it is just peak exhausting...especially when the plot really is something I see happen with other couples in literature and there isn't nearly the kind of intense discourse about it.
12

antheraea

It's kinda bugging me that there is Discourse around this plot given that...this is...literally the kind of plot certain het couples see. For instance, Aragon and Arwen in LotR, not only does Arwen outlive him but they don't even get to go to the same afterlife either, until the world is remade. Also, I dunno what to tell you, if the idea of the Third Act Conflict in every written plot ever is apparently Too Taboo for a gay plot... Like, yes, you're supposed to worry about how it'll turn out, that is literally the point of the buildup to the climax, that is literally how writing outside of some slow burn 200k word coffee shop AU works...

We can't all have happy endings, but it is definitely felt more when things go sour in LGBT relationships because they're so uncommon, and because when they do exist, more often than not they DO end badly because historically, the only way to get gay characters into your media and through the censors was if they had a bad ending. It had to be seen like they were being punished for being gay. so if anyone is angry that people are upset... Have a little perspective. It just means people cared more really.

I agree fully with MagnificentToaster! Even if this story is sad (at least at its current stage), it’s not “these characters get to suffer because they’re gay”. If this same plot was about a straight couple, there would be a lot less controversy. And I do understand where the controversy comes from- I am also getting kind of sick of “Oh, you thought this gay couple would be happy? TOO BAD LOL” in media.

But I also don’t feel like we should prevent sad things from ever happening to gay couples. I love, love, love happy endings, I 110% prefer happy ends to sad ones, but I think tragedy with LGBT+ characters is fine when it’s handled carefully, as this plot seems to be.

At the same time, though, I can’t imagine the writers killing Jaxon (or Ian) off. Jaxon has been here forever! He’s always around at Morostide! I could be wrong, but I honestly can’t see a beloved, long-term NPC getting axed for the purpose of “sad gay story”, especially not on a site that has a good amount of positive LGBT+ rep and a lot of openly LGBT+ users (and probably LGBT+ staff?). Like I said, I’m going to withhold judgement until I see the resolution. A lot can change in a single plot step— a lot changed in this one.
32

Wendi

I've been fully prepared for the worst outcome ever since this plot got started.

"We're going to try and bring Jaxon back to life."

Anyways, this is the first plot on subeta that I've participated in, and it's been pretty interesting. I like it.

Hoping we aren't responsible for making a decision that changes the ending one way or another, and therefore changes what prizes we get. If there's a challenger involved with these prizes in any way, I'm hoping to get it and I'd be mad at myself for choosing the wrong option if that were to happen and keep me from receiving that vs. a different prize. Something tells me there might be two different endings based on a choice or series of choices we face in another plot step.
1

Maniac

the drama in this tread is a solid argument for never making "media representation" characters unless you want people to nitpick and get annoying about every choice you make as an author lmao
13

MagnificentToaster

I dunno, I've read about a thousand stories where the queers get to live happily ever after. We have one on this very site. This site full of queer people, run by queer people, with stories written by queer people. As a queer person myself, I do want to see stories with happy endings; I don't want to read story after story of "and then the gays died, the end." I agree with that sentiment! But I'm also sick of stories where the gay characters are ooshy-gooshy snoogle-woogle constantly demonstrating how gay and smushy they are.

I want more stories in my media where the queer characters can be in love without demonstrating their queer sweetness constantly for the entertainment of an audience. Where queer people can just have lives and relationships that don't center on being gay. And I want stories where the queer characters have the same struggles straight characters do, where their failures and hurts can be compelling without being because they are queer. The cause of Ian and Jaxon's suffering, in this story, is not that they're gay. They're not being punished for being gay; this could just as easily be a story about a straight couple having the exact same struggle. And I love that.

If they don't live happily ever after, that will absolutely be sad, and I won't argue with anyone who wants to complain that staff has built up this romance just to crush everyone. But I'm happy to see a story subverting BOTH tropes: 1) that gays always have to live snuggily ever after, or 2) that gays have to die tragically because of their gayness. This story is sad, but it's a breath of fresh air, and I'm eager to see the ending.
37

Xezvi

@Florrosada12

Exactly! Jaxon's heart is more powerful, my foot. We've got a whole crypt full of Skelly hearts. I will stay here til Luminare digging them up until they equal Jaxon's, and if that still isn't enough, I'm going and raiding the Rainsongs.
(Personally I'm rooting for Galaxia's theory)

Okay but I actually teared up??? But I feel like it has to play out better. Killing(?) Jaxon would incite RIOTS
2

Muerte

"Bury your gays" is still bury your gays, no matter how you slice it.
Even within 98% of queer media, where most of the stories are tragic, it is Bury Your Gays.
Which is one big ass reason why the trope is so infuriating. Bury Your Gays was started because it was the only way queer characters could be in stories. We had to suffer. He had to be the villain that met a brutal ending. Even within our own genre, that we had to fight for, the only way to get our works out there was to make our queerness be a plague. To die. To suffer. To not have a happy ending. No love in the end. Sorrow, suffering, depression, and death. Only. Bury Your Gays is always the name of that trope.
You know what hasn't been done for queer stories ? All of those super cheesy romance ones. Happily Ever After stories. Riding off into the sunset after a great battle, where audiences are left feeling the protagonists will be happy and live 5eva together. Fulfillment. Love. Corny-ass-Holiday movies. All of the stories that, when done with pretty straight white actors, get stamped with "overdone, boring, and unrealistic" are the stories we're still not given.
Bury Your Gays started by queer people trying to at least be seen, in hopes of getting to a point where we were allowed to live. And it's the grave we can't escape from because love stories and happily ever afters are seen as boring and childish, despite us never getting them.

Stories that break that shitty ass trope and turn it on its head are far more interesting than ones that feed right into it.
21

Azzie

Exactly what MasterSir said. That trope is about tokenism- when the sole LGBT members of a work meet noticeably bad ends compared to the straight ones (or, in the case of a work focused on a single queer couple, at least one of them meets a tragic end to keep the couple from having a happy ending.) Subeta has loads of queer characters- heck, two of 'em got married- and a history of being very pro-diversity (especially in recent years.)
Also, as I think other people have pointed out:

@bulleta
I mean.... they can't make one die and have the other one live... right, RIGHT??!
0

LilyValentine

Also, I thought it had been no more than two years since these two got together...has subeta really kept us waiting four years for this plot to continue??? Time really does fly the older you get.
8

LilyValentine

I agree with those saying it doesn't fall in with the bury your gays trope since the majority (I think; I've never sat down and calculated) of subeta characters who have a canon aren't cishet, but I'm still anxious about where this is going because I DON'T WANT ANYTHING BAD TO HAPPEN TO THOSE ADORABLE BOYS. Though I'm pretty fond of the Dungarde too at this point.
8

Nevermornian

Tbqh I'm almost sure there will be a positive twist. I really don't think subeta would make us wait for YEARS to not being able to bring back Jaxon to life in the end @User not found: _@

Also, the throne. Maybe there will be something to do with it? I think it is rather suspicious.
3

MasterSir

For those worrying about the "bury the gays" trope - That trope would not be applicable here, seeing as how Subeta has LOTS of excellent queer characters. Powerful stories put characters at risk. When all of your characters are queer, you have to put a queer character at risk.
Finally, we're getting some VERY powerful stories for queers which have been historically reserved for straights only. That's good LGBTQ+ representation.
32

beinagrind

Any chance we're gonna get the puzzles as games in the future btw :eyes:? Bc the spider slider puzzle was more enjoyable than the saheric slide, which is pretty and all but the pieces are so vague and similar it's mostly just annoying. And the peg solitaire was difficult but i have an urge to play it more today....
6

Damon

Nooooo you can't do this to me Subeta.... I am bawling my eyes out here..... please don't make this a tragedy.. please my heart can't take it! ;_____;
3

Ryuu

Finally!” He winks, then gestures to the radio at his side, “No luck with the radio last night, though… full-disclosure, I kind of ended up watching Great Veta Bake-Off instead,

When you claim you really want to save your boyfriend... but you also gotta binge some Subflix. :d

I finally managed to make it on this morning and completed the plot/puzzles up to this point. Glad that I left the stupid jump puzzle for last. It was the WORST.
Anyway, it's fun to see what theories the rest of you have been coming up with and I really want to see how this will play out~
8

MagnificentToaster

Concept: resurrect Jaxon, and then when he dies again in 50 years, the Dungarde can have his heart. Everyone wins. It's not like his heart is going to disappear when they resurrect him. He does actually need it in his body to be alive.
24

Evanesce

I mean, Jaxon has been dead a LOOOOOONG time, SOMEONE has to bury him.

Seriously though, they didn't even fall in love until one of them was dead, you'd have to break the box of the trope to fit them in it no matter what happens. Also, Ian is a liar. Trusting that he went to the doctor is like ignoring that they've repeatedly tried to use your body as a possession vessel. He was gone for an entire day and deliberately avoided trying to contact Jaxon for another day after that. I'm surprised so many people think he's going to be okay. I don't believe him at all.
30

VIP

@bulleta That's the impression I got too!
0

Ossuary

@bobbins you need to have three stars in each row and column [diagonals don't matter]. you don't need one of each type or all the same type, just three stars. i'd recommend starting with trying to get 3 in each column.
0

bulleta

Maybe there will be a plan B and next year we'll help Ian become a spooky ghost too
6

bobbins

I dunno about yall but I'm having the worst time trying to solve ambrose's star puzzle.

Akfhy!!!

The puzzle kept freezing *skips* :c
0

I'm kind of slow on the uptake but I don't see how helping the Dungarde is going to kill Jaxon at all

Is he not just going to continue being a ghost that only appears during Morostide?
16

Galaxia

@Mythology

As in, breaking those crystal seals could let them return more often.

Mostly I'm trying to say that there are a lot of different ways this could go that end up with the two of them together and still around Subeta. ^_^;;
6

Maedeve

please say sike...
4

Galaxia

@Mythology

Which isn't ideal, as it's a form of burying, but part of it (especially with those crystals being similar to the seals that kept Merana trapped) could be Jaxon (and Ian, in this case), free to return to Subeta more often.
4

Selcoeurl

And here is the most helpful peg solitaire guide that I was able to find.
1

Galaxia

@Mythology

That is an idea.

Something that could also be happening is that Ian's wound is worse than it looks, and he'll be the one to have to transition between life and death with the Dungarde's help. That way he still gets to be with Jaxon on the other side.
7

Lantern

No matter what I do, I cannot get Godfrey's puzzle ;n;
0

RoxyWolf

I have faith in the heart of the cards 'garde!
5

Florrosada12

I literally gasped and murmured "oh no" at the end of today. Please subeta, give these boys a happy ending. TT_TT

Although, it is strange that the Dungard knows so much about Jaxon..... And also where the hell is his father buried? Can't we sacrifice HIS heart instead?!
29

Mythology

@Galaxia

That's what I started thinking too. That magic/The Skedhu hasn't disappeared and the fact that the Dungarde, despite being a crypt guard, has access to all this information is strange. Not the Skelly history but particularly Jaxon's past. I don't imagine the Skelly family told it much. Maybe it IS part of Jaxon like other comments suggest. After all, Jaxon is bound to the manor and its grounds as the Dungarde is to the crypt. Maybe freeing it frees both of them?

Selene

Depending on what happens, I don't think it will mean an NPC will be gonzo forever, but rather the thing that NPC was trying to accomplish simply won't happen. The plot can take a lot of different directions but I think it'll be more bittersweet if it's a "bad" ending.
That said, I love the dungarde though ;-;
9

Omfg I was actually able to complete that slider puzzle. I almost quit but didn't, yay.

I hate slider puzzles.
16

forcryinoutloud

Is it wrong to hope that the Dungarde is actually Jaxon - his punishment for what he did for his father being that he was transformed into it and left a prisoner all these years - and that when they give him Jaxon's heart the Dungarde is actually going to turn into flesh and blood Jaxon? Because totally killing off Jaxon...that is a completely and utterly horrid idea. He's one of my favorite characters on Subeta. :(
40

Caterpixie

I started crying as I got to the last bit. I want Jaxon and Ian to be happy, but I also want the Dungarde to be happy
24

Aztec

Don't you dare subeta. Don't you dare do this to me. Not after sitting here and waiting for YEARS for the resolution.
23

Solsticesprite

Some of the pipe puzzles have more than one solution. Can't place a piece? There are black circles that block you, they're not immediately visible so you need to increase your brightness or make your game board larger in order to see them or just memorize where they are on each board. Click on the piece you want, then place it next to the open pipe of the last piece so that meepit juice can flow (only you can't rotate). You need to get five pipes correct in a row without hitting a block or running out of pipe or having the pipe end up anywhere other than the skull.

The marble game is called peg solitaire and each move involves two clicks. To play the game you need to click one a jumping marble by clicking it so it shows a red square, and click two a destination hole that jumps-over an already existing marble. The jumped-over marble is then taken off the board poof.
2

ScoutHiro

I lost my grandma three days ago. I'm still thinking about her a lot. This is my first plot on Subeta and I didn't miss a single day, but I think I'll drop it. Feels especially worse considering Brazil will now have an LGBTQIANP+ hater as the new president. Will read the spoilers in the comments just to find out how it ends but can't deal with this for now.
7

Allegria

If I pile these reliquaries into a tower, is my hand size unlimited?
2

antheraea

tbh, I'm more interested in the relationship I and the dungarde seem to have....... after all this is said and done, I'd kill for some daily quests or something of just taking him around to places he wants to visit
47

SpiritedLass

Any ideas on how to solve the puzzle for Thomasin or the pipes?
0

beinagrind

can jaxon just give the dungarde an infinite vacation instead like damn
also if subeta does go with the whole kill the gays trope im gonna be big mad

I feel the same way I felt when I finished reading Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Just wanna throw something and yell "You bastard(s)!"
2

Balloon

-small blue balloon sobs quietly-

-human version of small blue balloon even tears up-

Dangit, Subeta.
11

Galaxia

If the Skedhu mirrors the heart, Jaxon himself admits that he has changed; he cares about people, and he is willing to sacrifice himself to help others live and be free. It may look dire now, but perhaps the same power that's been part of his past can also give him a new future. I have faith that Subeta isn't going to bury Jaxon.
43

Marlboro

I would keep this Dungard there just to see this couple has a happy ending.

I mean, he waited all those years so I don't see the problem for him to stay there for eternity.. I can give him new magazines every day, I can even build a gaming room with all the consoles in the world for him, so he won't get bored..
JUST LET THEM BE HAPPY!!!

@Treggify Thank you!

I’m gonna wait til the end of the plot before going “ugh not Bury Your Gays again”. I mean, we still have a couple of days left, right...? I can think of a few ways that this could work out positively.

I’m sure that it will at the very least be bittersweet (leaning more towards the “sweet” end of the scale). We’ve gotten Emma and Esther, and some other nice LGBT+ rep on Subeta, so I want to have faith that they wouldn’t fall back on That One Trope Nobody Likes, haha. ;v;
But we will see, I suppose.

You know it would be easier for the writers of the plot to just reach through the computer screen and rip my heart out of my chest at this point.

Great Veta Bake-Off!!! ;u; ~ ♥

Why can't we move the marbles though? I tried doing whatever but it still won't move. Is this a browser issue?
