A Decorated Request!
Now, I thought at first about doing something special for Jaxon this Luminaire, it being his first one in a long long time. But we talked about it, and he uh, well, he said he had everything he ever wanted and so I figured I’d show him the other great side of Luminaire - helping others!
Of course, we’ve taken a few sunrise forest walks over to see our buddy, Dungarde, but we realized his crypt could probably do with brightening up. What better way than with Luminaire decorations? This is where I need your help though. We only had a few bits and we’re not sure our tastes are really the variety that Dungarde would like, so we’d like to ask you for your help! Would you meet me back at Shadowglen forest, outside the crypt? The entrance is just past the Mage's hut, between the trees. I have a list of ornaments and a few toys that I think might work if you can spare the time!

Does anyone know for sure when these quests are ending? I'm 15 away from the achievement (work's been crazy busy so no time for Subeta, sadly) and I haven't been able to find a solid answer. I would assume we'd be given warning beforehand, but I'd like to know!

Between the inflation and being stuck in hospital yesterday I don't think I'll get anywhere near enough quests done, is it possible next year he gets a price cap somehow?

Was only able to complete 4 of my quests today, and even then I paid over 100k to do those ones. Most of them would have cost at least 500k to do, and I just refused. I really want to be able to get the achievement for the tree topper... I hope this lasts at least until the end of the month so that I will be able to! Or that the quest gets adjusted. I just can't spend that much on one quest. :(

I only managed to complete 6 of them today. I made the mistake of not paying attention last night when doing them and ended up paying 1.7m to complete two quests before I realized what had happened (let’s be real, by the 140th quest of the day, no one is *really* paying attention).
Today I made sure I checked the shop search for BOTH items before doing the quest, and if either item was over 100k, I skipped it. There are some super crazy inflated things he’s asking for... tells me that maybe his asking script needs adjusted.

today I had to quit the majority of quests as I don't have a lot of items or money :( so many items over 1mill or even over 100k when the only payout is max 42k

Okay, so I do have one major complaint about this quest: The items he asks for are so scripted that everyone's bought out the cheaper versions, to the point where there aren't any cheap versions left, like with the Blue Tree Skirt, but there are dozens of Field Stone Heart Ornament's at 2k and lower because he doesn't ask for those. He also doesn't ask for enough alphabet ornaments, Melody tree toppers, etc. I know the goal was to give these items some value again but 4.5 MILLION for a frigging tree skirt?
@Amber Considering how much time is left, (and despite me getting the achievement regardless) I do suggest his requests be changed again to include the actually cheap ornaments.

The following has been true for every quest released, not just this one:
1. You don’t have to complete all quests. When asked for inflated items, don’t buy them if you think it’s not worth it.
2. Not all quests give out a lot of sP. some give out items you can sell for sP or currencies you can use to buy rare items to sell
3. There are other ways to make sP. play games, sell items, do Saggi quests. Heck, even posting on the forums gives you some sP.
4. Item prices tend to inflate when achievements are attached to the quest. Especially quests that only as for specific items. That’s user shops dictating prices, not subeta staff

The quests were okay yesterday and the day before. But today I had to skip over half of them, since they cost too much. Ornaments are becoming more expensive in shops, and I'm making no progress toward the achievement.

It's not a sP sink, because it's only changing hands instead of disappearing from the economy.
Reluctantly, I can live with skipping a few Ian quests if it's intentionally designed that way, but the bigger problem is that it's interfering with items requested by other quests, and if you need them for your tree and such, then good luck! D:

I got lucky for the past two days, but I did have to quit 4 of them today. I'm glad that this was introduced with enough time to complete the top tier even with having to quit a few per day.

Too ashamed to say what I spent to complete 15 quests while playing catchup today... but I'm a little behind on my Luminaire thread gifting this year so I figured I'd try and go for the tree topper prize lol. I will say that being asked for a 6 mil+ or unbuyable item is ridiculous, but I'm sure that wasn't intentional and will be fixed... right...?

Um, I'm not sure if you're the one to ping for this, but it seems like the Dungarde decorating quests count as part of our Quest Point quests, but doesn't *actually* give out QPs and it's kind of throwing my count out of whack.
Today for instance, I finished 12 Dungarde decor quests, but then when I started doing regular quests, I got a QP after only finishing 3 Quests even though I made sure I finished questing yesterday after I gained a QP (so that I always start a day with 5 quests to go until my next QP, I'm kind of anal about that.)
I'm fairly certain that this isn't meant to be, but if it is it'd be great to know, thanks ^^ (I hope my explanation made sense)

Today I only quit one quest for a Coal Gear Ornament 1 mio and 50 mio, because I didn't want to sacrifice my single own one.
Otherwise reasonably priced items or I took some higher priced from my stash to compensate 60 and 70k expenses for others. That way I came out pretty even.
46 crystals for 9 quests also was a better turnout than yesterday's 20 for 6.
Still I suppose its all very luck based and you are on the worse end, if you don't have a huge hoard of items to fall back on.

(Also going to reiterate what someone else mentioned: quitting a quest doesn't count towards the achievements... I sure hope it's lenient + gives us enough time to get actually all the achievements / doesn't require you to have to complete EVERY quest. ;w; Some of these items are just way too expensive to splurge on like that!)

Figured I'd give it another go, got asked to find Green Ouch Sticker, not so bad at 14.5k. The other item was 
where i could either play 15mil or 25mil...so I just noped out, and prolly won't try for another bunch of crystals and morty card. Sure, I could hope this and other high priced ornaments drops from an Old Box of Ornaments but the chances of that happening are pretty darn minimal.

Just finished my second round of these quests and the improvements so far are phenomenal tbh. Averaged about 6-7 crystals per quest, only a couple items were super expensive, and Ian was paying out a much more reasonable amount (usually 40-50k). Still lost money overall, but it wasn't nearly as much as yesterday.

Luminaire itself can be an SP sink buying prezzies (NOT complaining as this is what I opt to do with my SPs this time of year ) plus I can only be on an hour RL stuff but interesting

The sp needs to be higher for these quests, most of the ornaments are 25k+ and it evens out to 50k+ please increase the sp so not every time you're losing moniesssss. I love this btw. I loved this plot.

I think the rarity of the toys/stickers which is being asked is still too high, a lot of the higher rarity toys/stickers are at 100k now example the mystical cadogres

I lost money, but then I did Saggi's quests and came out ahead. It really boils down to how fast people want to get the achievements. If you skip a lot, you should be able to make profit. If you're more concerned with farming crystals and getting to the achievements quickly, you'll end up behind in sP.

Well, I only had to quit two of the quests, but most, if not all of the other quests I could complete had 50k and below items, so I'm happy about that, though I still lost some money, but I have the regular quests to finish, so I'll just make that back as long as none of the other quest givers that I usually do don't ask for something nearly that expensive. :P

I definitely lost sP doing these but I'm not even mad. I'm just happy about getting to interact more with Ian, helping the Dungarde, earning new achievements, and having another way to get those much-needed crystals without fragging (I hate fragging). Thanks so much for this! :D

I LOVE this - it's such a great thing to tie into the holiday season with a follow-up to Jaxon and Ian. (Also I thought it was really sweet that Jaxon literally already has everything he could ever want. Aww.) But gosh, gotta concur with some other people, I got asked to get an ornament that was worth 5 mil sP (which I only just barely had because I'm broke as heck on here), and since I don't know how long we'll have to get all the achievements I dished out the moolah for it. I am NOT gonna be able to do that if he asks for something that expensive tomorrow... ;w; I think I lost money on all the quests but honestly oh well. x'D Worth it for some good Dungarde decorating fun lmao. The Dungarde had better be prepared to be avalanched in ornaments to be quite honest...

I'm making 28x my original investment buying Old Box of Ornaments every chance I got this Luminaire so far, but if opening that many boxes gets me none of the ones folks are paying the Earth for, then the RNG is seriously. screwed. up.

I mean, the payout is just really bad :( most of the ornaments I'm being asked are around 15-40k, and Ian askes multiples, and he gives me back around 25k :/ I know it's not the spirit of the thing, which is why I'm still doing it, but... It would be nice if at least I made it even?

with the tweaks to the item pool, i'm really loving these!! all but one of them were doable (items from ~1k - 20k, with two outliers at 37k & 40k) and from 14 quests i made 86 crystals which is *awesome* because i am very bad at fragging so this is great for me!

Thanks for the reset. Tried again and this time he was asking for items 50-130K. But since he only gives back 10-20K I lost a lot. Not sure if it's worthwhile even with the lower cost items but will try again tomorrow.

I'm fine with having occasional quests that we have to choose to quit, I do it with Library quests all the time. Same thing with quests not always being profitable (see: Quentin). Alls I wants is that tree topper at the end! :D

Also, I've had a test with 5 quests and all were under 20k per item apart from one 70k item (and a lot of items were under 5k) - so hopefully this is fixed, and we can all spend tonight filling up our shops with the ornaments we don't need from Melody :D

I love the idea of this, but wow the item pool needs to be tweaked like crazy! Out of ten quests, he asked me for a Dotted Pram four or five times, and two other quests he asked for items that flat-out aren't available in shops at all (the Marsh Fester Hand Puppet that someone else mentioned, and some Chai item iirc). Ok, so there MAY have been a typo that made you all get the same quest...so it may not be somebody being a grinch, but just a lot of you all buying up the same item to give to Ian. You are all truly angels.
That said, we've adjusted again, should only ask for items UNDER R88 now, and we'll reset quests again. Keep on with the feedback, we appreciate it!

that's because those are in legacy shops... shops that can't have items added or repriced. So they're being bought up but not added to shops for millions which is kinda a plus?

I'm glad they're working on tweaking the quests to be more reasonable, because I just had to forfeit almost half my allotted quests for the day because the stuff he asked for was WAY too expensive. First time I've forfeited a quest in years :flushed:

This is a nice idea to get some extra crystals, but he needs to be tweaked to ask for more different items. Otherwise nobody's going to be able to complete these quests because prices on normal items inflate like crazy.

I was only able to complete 3 quests out of 15 because he keeps asking for the same 5 & 25 million items plus the same unbuyable he wanted 6 times. Sorry, ridiculous.

Cute idea, but not at all worthwhile. 20k sP and 2 crystals for over 50k in items. And most items are unbuyable or 70k and up.

Oh, glad it'll be adjusted. The quests are highly unprofitable from the beginning since you usually spend 50k+ and get less than 20k and a few crystals :P

We're adjusting the quests to remove the Dungarde Tree Topper and the Cash Shop items (and we'll put a max limit on the price of things asked for)! Sorry about that, we'll reset quest totals once we're done :)

Not too bad, got a fleeping bunch of power crystals, two achievements, and a Morty Card. Ian didn't ask for anything over 56,000K, which I had in my Ornament Inventory.

I think I only completed four or five quests since the total was under ~40k... Ian, maybe you should've asked Saggitarius for shopping assistance instead.

Think they're gonna modify it. They probably just used everything with the Ornament class, which is unfortunate because some are very rare/expensive (as we now know). It's a brand new quest so give em time, boys. I appreciate the fact we have new stuff to do now.

This is super cool except the payout for most of these is not worth the price of the items. I even had to quit two because he was asking for an item over 400k for one and then over 1mil for another, with the payout being 10-20k and a few frag crystals :/ So out of the 8 quests I completed I ended up with 51 crystals and I'm down by a couple hundred thousand sp.
