thank you for the tribute ^^! I remember being driven past this, I'd love to revisit once its restored.

Thanks for the free gift.. Love it.
1

Katts

Thank you for this
2

Rocketlauncher

Now you know, even if you don't want to.
Achievement Unlocked! "You kept up with the news!" *thumbs up*
7

crashingnightingales

Lovely art, what a beautiful tribute to the Notre Dame! I was horrified seeing the news posts about the fire yesterday, what a tragic loss for France! Hopefully, they are able to rebuild soon.
4

SaboKat

FM is making a mess out of something sad and putting more energy into being upset so i dunno man

Lovely item anyhow
7

Puncture

WHY THE FUCK YOU GONNA CAUSE DRAMA OVER SOMETHING TRAGIC? SAVE THAT SHIT.
13

Lunealle

Lovely art! Thanks for this!
1

Annet

Vive la France!
2

Bro

It's sad we can't even get a thoughtful tribute item without users trying to instigate arguments in the comments. *Checks 'Average Age' poll statistics* Lmfao. The background is beautiful and thoughtful, and much appreciated. Vive la France. Our Lady still stands.
13

stars_water

I'll clarify why I say that.
My initial comment didn't have anything wrong with it. I wasn't hurting anyone, and if you or anyone else took it as being rude that's not my fault. I cannot and will not concern myself with worrying about what every single person on the planet might think about what I've said and try to cater it to strangers - I've played that game for years and the only thing it gets me is stress and low self-worth. I spoke my side of things in my first comment and it wasn't intended to hurt anyone, but I can't say the same for the response I got from it.
5

stars_water

@SaboKat
Now you're being unreasonable.
3

Mightyena

No it didn’t burn to the ground.

@PetiteUnikin
3

Jess

Notre Dame didn’t burn to the ground, but the roof was completely destroyed and the interior ceiling caved in in a few places. The church looks to be in decent shape inside from photos, I’m sure they will be successful in restoring it.
3

PetiteUnikin

Thanks for making this!

I love the memorial items you come up with!

@!Sprinter137

Notre Dame Cathedral burned to the ground....

Woodland

This means a lot, thank you so much!!
1

haphazard

thanks so much for this wonderful tribute, staff!
1

Cardamom

One of the prettiest tributes yet. One of my besties rings bells at the National Cathedral here in the US, and he's so distraught over the fire, but happy they saved the bells.
5

Thank you! <3

@Bliss
I like your comment and what you said to your brother.

Of course it will be a waste of money... but I have the feeling that our old stones are more important for us as inheritors of historical heritage than something quite so banal and insubstantial is money.
As you replied to your brother, Notre Dame is iconic, not only for France but also world wide... so I realy hope my country will "waste" a lot of money to save it and make it shine again. o/

I think She is something worthing us to spend money for.
Amen.
11

Penemuel

Thank you for this beautiful tribute. I’ve never been to Notre Dame and am not religious, but it breaks my heart to see any archaeological or historical site damaged or destroyed. I’m so glad to learn that the main structure is intact and the rose windows are mostly unscathed.
8

jukebox

Beautiful tribute, thank you for this.
3

Desilyna

Thank you for this lovely tribute. It made me tear up. I know that they will rebuild, but this was such a tragedy and so sad.
4

wyrm

;;;u;;;; Thank you.
1

Bliss

It’s such a shame what happened to the Cathedral.

France has stated they want to rebuild, but it was costing them 5million a year in maintenance. My brother said “No one or no other country will chip in because rebuilding it is a waste of money” I said “Yes! They will rebuild because it’s iconic”.
5

fallenkitsune

This is a fitting tribute, thank you! Now i must listen to the soundtrack from the hunchback of notre dame for a while.
1

Jeno

Thank you for this.
2

Rakumel

Just wanted to reiterate how beautiful this item is, in every way. Thank you so much. <3
2

Bohicon

Very nice. Thank you Subeta
2

Soleta

This made me tear up. The Notre Dame cathedral is the first place I visited in Paris. I have fond memories. Thank you for this lovely keepsake and tribute. I hope it can be rebuilt.
7

SpiritImmortal

What happened is a tragedy. Hopefully the restoration process can go swiftly.
Thank you for the beautiful tribute.
6

SaboKat

@FairestMoss You could have just said that this is a nice item and not said the other part, instead of letting off an air of rude ignorance in your first comment. NOW we know you have your reasons, but you brought it up in the first place.

Historiography

My last year of undergrad, I remember going to Paris on a family vacation to Europe during my winter break and being awe inspired walking into Notre Dame. The church was having a special service ( this was after Christmas right before the new year so I unfortunately didn’t take pictures, at the time it felt rude to act like a tourist while a full church service was going on but Notre Dame is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, and it’s in my memories which is enough.)

This is a beautiful tribute so thank you subeta for it.
5

Sap

Wow, this is so sweet. I love it.

The poor Notre Dame.
4

Pluma

wow, subeta. thank you so much for this tribute. it is absolutely thoughtful and beautiful. <3
3

Gyz

,,thank you. <3
3

ChibiStraws

I had to read the comments to find out what happened. I never watch the news because I have panic attacks every time I try.
I hate that so many tribute items have had to go out lately, and love you guys for making every single one
13

Dracona

Beautiful! Thank you so much for these tributes. ♥ I was at Notre Dame in 2010 and lit a candle for my mother. Not sure whether to put the bell in my wardrobe or mums memorial pets treasure yet. But it's a wonderful gift. Thank you.
4

Morticia

I was horrified. Especially when I saw that the whole building was on fire. They did manage to save a part of it. According to the current news, 30 percent of the relics survived the fire. The frame is still standing. The only worry is about the sandstones walls. Sandstone can't handle heat very well. I hope the firedepertment managed to keep them cool enough.

Thank you for the Tribute

I've never been to the Cathedral nor am I religious, but still I cried watching the live updates roll in last night. My heart breaks for France. The World will help you rebuild.

beautiful tribute!
my heart goes out to notre dame & the people of france; i was watching a news feed of it from a world away and it was heartbreaking to witness
i was so glad to hear that it can be rebuilt
3

Thank you so much. I hope that Notre Dame can come back and be just as beautiful again.

Oops, pardon my ignorance. I don't follow the news.

beinagrind

this is gorgeous
2

Oasis

Thank you for this beautiful tribute. It was such a terrible thing to have happened.
3

Bren

Subeta- Thank you for the beautiful tribute. Not ashamed to admit this brought tears to my eyes. Watching the tower burn on the news last night and seeing the devastation caused by the fire was heartbreaking.
@Mackenzi - so well said! :two_hearts:

I sing the lyrics of Highway to Hell, to the tune of Hells Bells.

OCDC.
1

surutyo

Thank you a lot for this tribute. <3
3

Yuzu

What a beautiful tribute! Thank you so much.

Now I'm off to watch the Hunchback of Notre Dame and then play the opening song on endless repeat until I pass out.....
5

Julie

What a lovely tribute for this historical structure. Thank you.
2

Hunger

Beautiful tribute, thank you! <3
2

SongSparra

This is truly beautiful in all aspects!
4

Journey

I spent way too much time watching the livestream yesterday and obsessively keeping up with the news. I'm glad that so much was recovered, and they can rebuild it.
5

ChaosEmpress

My heart goes out to France, the cathedral is a symbol of hope and faith. I wish you all well. But I'm also glad no one was killed. Unless I'm wrong and I missed that, then I apologize.
11

InkSpell

This was a truly devastating thing that has happened. But like it's home country, France and Notre Dame will come together and rebuild again.

Thank you staff for this tribute.
8

Necropolis

@FashPuma If she wants to bury her head in the sand and ignore the world, let her. You can't ever change the mindset of a person like that. Good on you for trying, though.
15

Bathory

On a really cool note they are going to use 3d Renderings from Assassins Creed Unity and a researcher named Tallon who died a year ago to rebuild the Cathedral!
14

youngexplorer

Vive La France!
3

Absurde

As a French person... Thank you.
5

nezgirgerluvr

It was so sad that the building burnt down, but if it didn't we would not get this beautiful item, so I would want it no other way.
2

StarShadow

Wonderful. Thank you.
3

Austria

Fire is one of my greatest fears. Things were lost, but things were saved too. Thank you for this tribute.
5

Pinocchio

I hope there'll be enough followup news to see how it keeps doing reconstruction-wise after this. I've never been to Notre Dame but I hope I'll get to see it in November when I go to France for the first time.
I'm so glad it's still standing after everything. <3
6

stardust

beautiful. ♥
3

arixen

I would like to thank the artist and Subeta staff for this lovely tribute item. I have been lucky enough to visit Notre Dame and found it to be a truly spiritual place and hope that it can be fully restored.
7

Kismet

This is a beautiful tribute.
4

Galadriel

@Mackenzi Well said! I didn't even really think about it, but now that you mention those footnotes, it really registers. It's so devastating to experience first-hand, but when you read it in a history book, you don't really think twice about it. Guess I'll be paying more attention to those throwaway sentences now....
6

Owlwing

As someone who only dreamed of Notre Dame in real life and devastated by the news of what had happened, I was shocked. But like many other users have said before me, this is a lovely tribute. All I can say is "Vive la France!" (To all the french users, I apologize for my use of the language (especially if it is wrong). It has been at least 6 years (7 in May) since I took a French lesson).
6

Mackenzi

Nobody died, even so close to Easter, and so much was saved. I am in amazement such a terrible fire did not claim a single life. The videos are hard to watch, heartbreaking, but it is part of the Cathedral's history now.

Isn't it strange- we read notes like this when learning history, so many old buildings and places have footnotes "much was lost in a fire in 1823 and was rebuilt in 1890" and we barely register the event in our minds. Seeing it happen was devastating and puts those lil notes into a startling context. Someday this will be a footnote in some text about Paris history with someone's before and after Twitter photos, and they will look at their rebuilt church with wonder at how these things humans make can still survive through centuries.
60

stars_water

@Fouguri_947
Thank you, and you too.
3

CynicalCrow

This is absolutely beautiful; thank you so much! <3
3

MarchOnOff

Thank you, impressive and emotional tribute

@FashPuma

If someone doesn't want to know the news, try not to impose it on them, maybe it hurts more knowing then not.
14

Fouguri_947

@FairestMoss
As someone who almost never look at news because that's affecting to much my mental health... I totaly understand your reaction toward their ping.
I am sure they didn't wanted to hurt you, but you especialy said you didn't wanted to know, and I think it's VERY rude and unrespectfull that they pinged back you here to let you know what happened in Paris.

That's your choice if you don't wan't to know, and nobody should had something to say about that because, as individual human beings we don't have to embrace all of the world's tragedies and bad news, (especialy when we come on a web game).
And it's okay to live our life at our own scale.... :)

(I don't usualy go to such discutions, but I though it was important to let you know that I felt bad when I saw they pinged you back. Have a good day/night <3 )
23

stars_water

@Bathory
Yeah, and my reasons include severe anxiety caused by PTSD. Maybe people should respect when someone doesn't want to know something instead of trying to force it on them.
18

Senti

How wonderful! Thank you :)
3

Chef

Wonderful tribute. Thank you.
3

Feya

Thank you for this beautiful tribute. <3 It was really terrifying sight, even only on the stream. Luckily, many of the relics and artpieces have survived the tragedy! It gives me hope in restoring the cathedral.
4

rellieee

This is an amazing tribute <3 thank you staff! <3
3

Galadriel

Thank you, staff, for this awesome tribute. You guys are truly incredible when it comes to keeping up with the times and whipping out a new item when something like this occurs. These bells are the best way to pay a tribute to the lovely Notre Dame as it was before (and the movie, haha), and to ring out the coming of a revival for this stunning piece of architecture. Also, a huge thank you to all the firefighters of France who saved almost everything! What incredible people to have risked their lives and lost their sleep for all of this.
14

EmCee

This is a beautiful tribute to a place I admire very much. <3
I was so relieved to find out that the relics inside were saved in case the fire could not be contained.
5

Bathory

@Fairestmoss your reasons for not wanting to know are yours but there was no need to say screw you. Have a good night!
29

Raggy

Thank you for the lovely thoughtful tribute, I visited the Cathedral in the 80's with my sister, it really is a massive place, and built on a hill so it overlooks all of Paris, [lots of steps] They will rebuild it, just like York Minster was rebuilt when it too had an enormous fire.
3

Wesker

I am still in shock.

Also this should go without saying, but fighting and snark in a tribute post is just disrespectful.
26

Diana

Such a beautiful Backdrop!! Thank you!!
3

Sovereign

What a gorgeous tribute.
3

Marlboro

Beautiful thank you
3

Metaphor

Wow, this is stunning. Thank you!
3

NeonDinosaur

I read the comments to see what this is about. I don’t really follow news...
It really sucks about the fire. Cathedrals are so beautiful and so important to many different groups. I’m not European or religious but I have high respect for old historical things and art. They can re build the church but it won’t be the same :( my heart goes out to them
10

Disasters

Such a beautiful touching tribute. Not ashamed to admit it made me cry. Glad I'm not the only one!
4

Jules

Crying. Beautiful. Thank you.
3

stars_water

@Bathory
Dude, FashPuma is the one who pinged me to offer up information after I explicitly stated that I didn't want to know.
13

fizz

Such a lovely tribute for such a distressing time. We've lost one of the greatest sights on planet earth.
3

Lovely

Thank you so much to whoever made this and also for making it a free gift. This almost brought me to tears. Having only visited and remembering standing in front of the bells and hearing that they survived the fire brought such relief. I can only imagine the heartache and relief for Parisians to have the fire finally out.
8

Bathory

@FashPuma thank you for that just ignore her don't let it get to you.
14

Thank you for this gorgeous tribute.. time to rebuild. <3

How cute. ;-; Thank you <3
3

Yuzuru

Thank you ♥️
3

Silverfish

Well, that was fast.
This had been hard to watch last night, I'm very relieved the main body of the structure is left standing and at least some of the art was carried out. For a while there it looked like the entire thing may come down, which would have been a devastating loss :(
11

Holy

I cried when I heard the news, walked by that cathedral almost daily when I lived in Paris. Thank you so much for this tribute
5

Opundo

This is gorgeous, and I'm very touched by the tribute.
3

Caths

Thank you a million times for this!
3

Fouguri_947

As a French User I am.... very touch of this attention and tribute.
I hope we will rebuilt it and that all the visitor could see it again! <3

(And I think I need two of that... because both my Charlie's TC and my HA)
19

FashPuma

@FairestMoss
"A massive blaze at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris devastated large parts of the 850-year-old church. The fire is now out, but the cathedral's iconic spire fell during the hours it took to battle the blaze. French President Emmanuel Macron, in an address to the nation, promised Parisians that they will 'rebuild this cathedral together.' "

It's international news. It's important to know what's happening in the world around you.
64

Xezvi

Beautiful item. I had Jonathan Young's cover of the Bells of Notre Dame stuck in my head all yesterday.
3

Idiot

Thank you so much. I don’t know why, but somehow the fire hit me really hard when I heard of it, considering all the memories I have associated with the Notre Dame.
3

Kallistrat

This background is adorably pretty... I love this sensation of serenity it brings out! Thank you for this delicate tribute in which any religious, non religious, French player like me or any other person thrilling with history could rely on! <3
10

Faizh

Super. I loved this background.
1

stars_water

I don't know and I don't want to. I make a point to not keep up with the news for a reason. This background is beautiful though. Thank you!
8

Sigilmancy

Thank you guys so much for this. I was crying last night watching the videos, as I had the chance to visit Notre Dame in 2012 with my mother and like many others have fond memories of it. Thankfully the damage can be repaired and no lives were lost, and the cathedral will rise again from its ashes.
6

Targaryen

A very beautiful tribute to the Notre Dame Cathedral fire! Thank you so much.
4

teacup132

Thanks for the lovely tribute. I was holding back tears watching the news... so much history; however, it's not the first time it's been damaged and it will rise again!
13

MerlinPendragon

Cries hard, thank you Subeta.

I was hoping for something like this.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou. Really.
9

10

Evy

Nice tribute! I was so sad seeing it unfold last night.
4

o0SnowyOwl0o

@Sprinter137

No one died, at least as far as the news goes.

The Notre Dame cathedral just had a fire that caused parts of it to burn. People are concerned about it and hope that it can be repaired is all. It is an important historical site in France for both religious and non-religious alike.
10

jersey

This is beautiful. Truly.
9

ShesUniique

Holy shit and i read the kids The Hunchback of Notre Dame last night :O
4

@Sprinter137 I'm thinking it's in reference to notre dame cathedral's fire
