Anyhaps, th' crew are back fer our yearly trade, this time we're anchorin' 'til th' end o' th' month, so nigh 11 days! We 'ave a fresh bounty plundered from far 'n nigh ready t' tempt ye. Carl be prolly still lazin' around 'n piratin' from us pirates, jus' don't give 'im any caffeine, if he's goin' t' hand out our booty in his quests we'd at least prefer he did it slow, like.
Anyway, the crew are back for our yearly trade, this time we're anchoring until the end of the month, so nearer 11 days! We have a delightful new selection of goods collected completely legally from all over the world and ready for your perusal! Carl is again being helpful and giving out our items in his quests, we just ask that you refrain from giving him any caffeine as we're concerned for the poor man's health. We do like it when he gets his rest.

ah, this holiday isn't as fun as i assumed it would be... ? not great when you're computer's a bit slow and you've only been able to grab like 2 items since the event started
Augh i used to like this holiday when i had decent internet, now i feel like the person flailing on the floor as the black friday stampede fights for scraps
I looove this holiday. i don’t get people who say this shop is never stocked. yes the items go fast, that’s the fun of it! it restocks every 5-15 minutes it seems. every so often i will sit and constantly refresh, i’ve already gotten quite a few items.
My dislike for this holiday knows no bounds...sitting there just waiting for the new items to appear only for them to vanish in 0.5 seconds is mind-numbing
aw man, i'd really love to get that "Midnight Mermaid Treasure" hairstyle. i can't afford it ??
I don't want our one restocking holiday to be taken away, tbh. It's the only holiday I REALLY look forward to participating in because it's different from just clicking floaties and posting "claimed" on the dance/flower boards. I see why it's frustrating; however, the fact that you have the chance to get items from Carl is more than fair. Not to mention, most things come down significantly in price within a couple days.

Going to try my best to RS, but I've never seen an item in this shop lol. I hope I get some cool stuff from Carl.
@Diprosopus I've also wondered that, but I assume they don't do it because it'd be too easy for people to grab things instead of relying on luck, probably even more so in the Freyalise because we're all trying to grab the recent and rare items. There would be more competition between the people who have the same boxes highlighted (as wishlist items) and the item would disappear faster as the time it takes to hunt and click is eliminated.

JaiI don't begrudge anyone with the time or speedy internet connection to sit and click and restock from the pirate shop. I do, however, object to 30+ minutes between restocks. At least have the shop restock more items, more frequently, especially since the shop is only open for 11 days.

I vended 700 tokens at Ocean Depths and got 3 pirate items, only one of them new. Odds aren't great for non-restockers.
I managed to snag a hermit crab plushie...I own a pet hermit crab so this was perfect for me LOL

It's tough, but I've managed to catch a few restocks. There's barely any time to search and choose items. You have to click click click! I've seen it go up to 13 minutes until a new restock. I'm guessing it usually restocks again after 5-10 minutes of stocking.

However the primary point of my comment is that calling people names because they don't like not being able to get things that other people are able to get much more easily is kind of a dick move. And that still stands!

@Solsticesprite I can confirm it's possible to get both a retired + currently stocking item from Carl.
That said, I also am pretty sure I got double retired prizes from other quest givers a couple times today so I don't know if that's just a normal chance or if it has to do with the two celebrations running at the same time

@Valiska something is only a sP-sink if it removes the sP from the site. Keelhauliday doesn't do that by much and to the degree it does nobody is complaining. What Keelhauliday does is sP-redistribution from the slow users with slow connections to the fast users with a fast connection. That sP that is transferred from one player to another, this still exists, While anyone might complain about not having it themselves anymore (and they do!), that sP isn't sunk.

@Lighthouse Nope, it just sells out THAT fast. Also helpful to know if you didn't is that the "Restocked now!" message stays up for a full minute. I can confirm it's definitely stocking though because I just snagged a couple things

Yay pirate items... wish they'd program this shop to stock more frequently/higher quantity of the items. Seems like it all sells out within 30 secs of RSing!

I always love the new pirate stuff but I hate hate hate that stupid shop that never has anything good in it so I have to put it all on my WL. Sure wish they'd stock more.
I know a lot of people don't like it, but I love the restocking holiday shop. We only get one holiday a year where this happens and maybe I'm just nostalgic but I miss the good ol' days of Subeta when restocking was practically a competitive sport. The excitement of getting a new item and the joy that comes from beating someone else to it!
I do enjoy that most of the holiday shops are just buy whatever, whenever but I do hope that keel stays the way it is.

But I'm disappointed that yet again there's always someone who has to call people babies and whiners when they complain because Keelhauliday is a huge SP sink for anyone without a superfast connection, a lot of free time, and good reflexes, and they don't want to line the pockets of the users with the most free time and fastest internet.
Give it time. In a few days the prices will drop. They'll drop faster if people stop willingly paying over 1-10M SP for items that won't be worth 500K by the end of next week or 100K by next summer. A few items will remain over 1M, but most will not.
And don't let the name callers get you down.

I like the new items but once more, as with this year's Steamworks lineup, I'm wondering where all the frills and obnoxious gaudy ornamentation I live for went. And it's not that I'm unsympathetic to the more masculine presentation styles, but rather that in the eras we think of when we think of pirates and steampunk, people presenting as masculine didn't HAVE to wear streamlined garments free of frills and gold braid. I like the skirts lots but every single one of those tops could be worn in an office without attracting undue attention. Some of the colours might be a bit much for a bank, a stockbroker's office or a corporate law office, but I've seen tops similar to these at Modcloth and even at Target?

Tip for anyone struggling with restocking (on pc, can't help you with mobile LOL): put the shop on your bookmarks toolbar so you can randomly click it as you're browsing other pages/doing other things. It helps keep the shop on your mind too, since it's very visible!
Can you fix the programming that has the Wizard asking for this year's Keelhauliday items? Twice. In a row. Costing me two quests. Three if you count that I'm there for Shinwa's bracelet quest.

It's sad for me- I just seem to have the worst luck! No matter how I refresh, I've literally never seen an item in the Freyalise. It's just always empty when I try to even see what's up. umu Maybe someday I'll actually get something ahaha

The problem remains that there's always that handful who think they need everything handed to them and don't want to work for it. Is it hard to rs stuff? Yes. Are there other ways given to get the items? Yes. I feel it is fair.
Well, my internet is slowly as hell. As always. Whatever, I give up. Maybe I'm gonna buy some of the items next year, as I always do. LOL
