Name winners, by the way:
Lake: Death Roe
Metal: Metalmorphosis
Ice: Cryomorph
Smoke: Eau de Ceased
As for how long it was open for - stages are short in general, so the naming was up for half of stage 6 and all of stage 7. But they needed to be closed to get the strains into the wardrobe.
Having them open for 20 hours is better than it being a forum only poll that most people didn't even hear about!
Thank you again for letting us host our polls on the site!

Ahhhh... I was out of town overnight and missed it! Was following the thread though and hoping some of my favourites won! *crosses fingers* when will the winners be announced?

Wow Ice is looking incredible and I like the front runner name for it. Anxious to see what Metal looks like, will try for that next.

Come on, Cadaviar you can do it, I mean I'll call you that anyway, but come on you can win!

When you announce the winning names, are you going to reveal which companies sponsored them? I'm asking mainly cause I have no idea which land Smoke is supposed to be based on.

Even though none of the names I picked are winning, I have to say all of them are original and fitting for the viruses. It is nice to see such an involved and artistic userbase. :)
Well done players!

@siellby ich is nickname for a common tropical fish disease in the aquarium hobby and ichor is a name for demon blood, tamago is japanese for egg (I think it's not specific to chickens, so it's not like in english where the specific word for a fish's egg is roe). Those are my guesses I only skimmed the strains naming thread it's pretty long.

Thanks for including my idea for Smoke: Frankencense x (unless someone else actually submitted that before I did, but assuming it’s mine)

okay I get the "ick" and "ghoul" parts of "ickura" and "tamaghoul" but otherwise I have no idea what those names mean?

@Skrett
I think this is only the second year that we've had official on-site polls, but the names are all things that came from users posting on the forums, with suggestions for names starting as early as the first stage lol. Of course the frontrunners can change a bit over time depending on how the development goes, but generally the names tend to kind of reflect how the strain started out, even if it takes a different turn somewhere in the middle.
Lobster Face is a classic example of this, since it started out with just red puffiness on the HA before it turned into the rose by the end.

Love the official polls! Every single name I voted for is currently in second place. Hopefully a few pull forward after more users vote :P *wishful thinking*

Thank you so much to staff for helping us out with these polls!
Full disclosure - all names are user submitted and have been hot topics of conversation over on the Strain Tracking Threads. Staff wasn't responsible for any of these names. Feel free to join us over on the boards!

Thanks for the easy to understand polls :) these make naming strains so much more streamlined than just throwing out our votes in a forum post

Oh no, I just thought of a name for Metal, too. Ghast in the Machine. Probably too wordy, though. I'm liking these options!

Yeah, I enjoyed most of the names this year as well. I like some more than others, but I won't be particularly upset if the ones I voted for don't win. They're all pretty good!

As much I enjoy being able to vote, I really dislike one of the options of lake due to the political connotations to a particularly controversial subject and feel like it should have been omitted.

Such creative names. I don't even care if the ones I voted for end up being picked because there were so many that I honestly wanted to vote for more than one.

Umm... I don't understand the 'Old' vs 'New' site art poll? Hasn't the art on here always been changing? Which art is it asking about? :/
