Thank you everyone! Yes the gorgeous overlay (but not the story) is based on Arcanine. "Physiology. Arcanine in the anime Arcanine is a large, bulky canine Pokémon that also possesses traits of tigers and lions. It has a distinct long dog-like muzzle with a large round black nose. Its eyes are triangular in shape, with black pupils." I always thought Arcanine was beautiful, esp some artist's renditions away from the actual Pokemon. I never played but my son did. lol
