Kinda mad that I missed the book free item for this.

I'd rather see a free gift for Orange Shirt Day.

Thank you for this. I was hoping you would do something for the Queen. ❤️

Marcus

I deleted mine. It's what she would have wanted. 😔
9

CassKeogh

British but not a real royalist, but its undeniable that she was a huge part of our culture. 13 US presidents and 15 UK prime ministers, change on a large scale.
She will be missed.
14

antheraea

Not into the monarchy at all, but I empathize with people who are a bit shocked by it.

Consider the time abyss:
Her reign started 16 years before *my mother* was born.
She outlived my mom's mom.
She also outlived my mom's mom's mom (my great-grandmother).

Any time a constant leaves, the world stage's cast changes, it brings anxiety and shock, and I think those are 100% valid emotions. Just because people react to it with unease, shock, even a kind of grief at how the world continues its terrifying march towards change, doesn't mean that they're erasing the terrible shit the monarchy oversaw. People are allowed to feel things and express those things without being told they're invalid or (god forbid, I saw this in the wild) a white supremacist.

Anyway, the gift is super cute. More doggos on the site is good for me.

ChatLunatique

I have never known a world without Queen Elisabeth. This will be a strange transition, if only to see a male face on British coinage. Regardless of anything else though, I will always adore a new corgi item.
Thank you.
10

springjoy

I think I thought she would live forever. Part of me thought she just had to...something steady and the same in a world that changes too fast and in too many ways for me. May she rest in peace, and may all who loved her be comforted in the love and respect much of this world held for The Queen that was not even their own. <3
14

Hollieangel

Thank you for this. It's such a strange time and many different feelings are floating around (all valid), but the sentiment is very much appreciated from this side of the pond.
10

Plague

All I know is the death of this immortal being is surely the final sign the apocalypse is upon us.
10

Amber

@Truffula @SeussMD @Drathir @Sneaky The last free gift wasn't new, it was an old one brought back! Just like any free gift that has hit insane prices, it will likely make another appearance in the future.
10

kaliope

I'm neither British nor a monarchist so I'm surprised by how sad I am about the passing away of the Queen. Maybe it's because about a year ago my granny died at almost the same age. Or maybe it's because the world lost a constant in times where nothing is sure and everything is changing. She reigned for so many years, one was tempted to think she'll be there forever.
15

Jen

This is perfect [perfect]
2

Azzie

This tribute item made me almost start bawling. I don't know what to feel, but- just, there's so much understanding and kindness in this whole post.
10

Sneaky

I'm kind of annoyed that the window between this and the previous Free Gift was very small, you couldn't have waited another day or two? I did manage to get the book myself, I'm just thinking about other people who missed their chance.
10

Jesus

"if you have a different opinion keep it to yourself" is THE funniest thing ive read all day
49

Hound

She will be missed... She was a monarch to look up to. Being from Belgium, we can only laugh at our royalty...
7

Caliban

Thank you for this.
It's been such a surreal day today. I'm not a Royalist, but I did like the Queen. She was an amazing person who accomplished so much and was adored by countless people.
8

Misnome

Oh for goodness sakes; do people here even realize that by the time Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne, the monarchy had lost almost much all of its actual political and military power? (the royal family has been nothing more than figureheads and tourist attractions for quite some time)

Yet some are blaming Elizabeth II for things she didn't even do herself (I think everyone should be judged for their own actions, not those of their ancestors).
48

VINYL

I really am discomforted by this item, so if anyone else wants it, I'll give it to u for free.
12

NeoPokeTa

I'm definitely not a fan of the monarchy, and I have mixed feelings on Queen Elizabeth herself because while I've heard that she was dedicated to the UK and its people (which would include my many British friends), she presided over the empire in times where it caused so much suffering to others (especially Indigenous people, as mentioned above). Still, I found myself really depressed over her passing (still am) simply because it reminds me of when my great-grandmother passed (as she and the Queen died at very similar ages). So, thank you for providing us comfort in the form of a puppy.
9

Mandy

I am surprised by how saddened I was by this news.

(If anyone missed the book and needs it for a pet let me know, I'm happy to give you mine)
2

Julia

Monarchy is a concept that should've been left in the distant past and the cruelty of colonialism still impacts many people worldwide. I would be glad to see a day where everyone has the same rights, freedoms and opportunities. That being said, this is still a major world event and people have a lot of complicated feelings about this. I'm glad this was handled diplomatically and I'm also glad that people have been free to voice their opinions that in other places are called "too soon" to express.

Personally, this just feels surreal because she was 96 years old and such a big part of history. It'll be weird to see changes to my country's currency. Would be cool if we didn't have a monarchical figure on it at all but it's probably too much of a hassle to make that change.

Rumi

This site has the most lovely tribute items! What a cute doggo <3 TY!

she terk mer free gift!!!

(i really missed it. )
2

lull

Ditto @Darkrai, I was just about to say the same ;)
3

Darkrai

The previous free gift was already a rerelease. It's not prohibitively expensive in shops and will likely be back in the future anyway since it's consumable
29

stardust

cute tribute, hope the little book will come back soon for those who missed it.
1

Drathir

yeah about the free gift, i feel like if one is going to come out only a day after another (granted, i know people can't predict when someone will die and get a tribute item), there needs to be some kind of system where the previous free gift is still available for like idk... at least 48 hours more so you can receive both? i'm glad i got the book before this one came out or else i'd have been upset personally.
22

SeussMD

This is a tasteful tribute item, well done.

I do hope the Understanding the Universe item will be back at some point, since it was only available for a like a day.
18

Truffula

Seems a little too soon since the previous free gift wasn't much more than a day earlier? I hope everyone got that one who wanted it.
8

vertiroo

Good day to be Irish

Good luck Prince....I mean King Charles. You have some big and yet dainty shoes to fill. It's going to be different indeed without the Queen.
Thank you for the item.
7

I missed the last Free Gift by a few hours, sad. I don't like this one as much.
7

Raven

Beautiful tribute. I still find it surreal that the Queen had passed.
12

Moonbeam

My first thought after hearing the news was that she'd get to be with Margaret & all the Corgis again! This is precious. May Her Majesty rest easy.
11

Tiobe

I’m with @Quo on this one.
comfort to her family, of course. and hoping her successor will be more radically kind and inclusive.

Someone

Willow was such an adorable pupper. Miss seeing that mess of corgis with the Queen. Looked like heaven 😍
2

Kinky

Oh gosh. What a lovely minion for such a legacy.
5

Madeleine

Although people are speaking up about the past, I'm more anxious about what this means for the world as a whole going forward, tbh. Parliament is going to be in disrepair during a vital time on the world stage ;A;
12

Haswari

I love how many people are excited that there's a new dog on site and I'm just happy about the name. 😅
3

Amber

@Taarna I was also confused by your statement, haha! I was like "wait what also wait why is it named willow at all". Def didn't take it as negative!

Also, just a reminder to everyone, while it's completely valid to be upset with what the monarchy has done (just like people have been upset with horrible things America has done or other countries), please don't take it out on other users. Like Rah said, there are a lot of complicated feelings with this death.
59

Schneizel

People need to stop blaming her for things she wasn’t responsible for.
34

Taarna

@Amber Yeah unfortunately it was my first thought since the new one is coming out but reading through the comments, I put them together as I remember reading about her doggos.
Glad you understood me as it wasn't meant as anything negative.
5

Tinkerbabe

What a lovely tribute! Thank you!
2

penelope

Queen Elizabeth was the Supreme Governor and head of the Church of England, which operated approximately three dozen residential schools in Canada between 1820 and 1969, second only to the Roman Catholic Church.
The remains of THOUSANDS of indigenous children have been found buried under these buildings.

I'll be mourning for them instead.
98

Amber

@Taarna I was also confused by the name, but according to the artist (who is British) "It was the name of one of her fave corgis and the whole weeping willow thing".
30

Trubble

Thank you for the lovely tribute.
3

Lucifer

38

WinterMoon

May the Queen rest in peace. Thank you for this cute little minion!
2

Vars

thank you so much for this tribute being very tasteful ♥
she was an extremely important figure to many people and beloved by them, and yet there are a lot of countries and people that were not positively impacted by the monarchy under her rule. there are a lot of split & justified feelings for everyone on all sides of her passing and having something neutral and cute and uplifting is super appreciated.
54

Eivor

Oh, I just...

"if I wore beige, nobody would know who I am" -Her Majesty & from what I can gather, the colour of the crown item is #ac56e4, like a light shade of blue-magenta RGB colour model is comprised of 67.45% red~, 33.73% green~ and 89.41% blue~ I love dog. such a sweet c/dorgi item
Thank You for Everything Queen :crown: <3
