Agoge, Inc. is seeking a part-time PHP developer to work on one of our websites, http://subeta.net.
Responsibilities include maintaining existing code, including fixing bugs, making upgrades, and implementing new features and content, as well as supporting our User Administrators when they need programming assistance.
Qualifications (what we're looking for):
* Knowledge of PHP, Javascript, and MySQL - we're not looking for concrete experience in a past PHP job necessarily, but demonstratable skills doing LAMP web programming.
* Responsibility, self-motivation and a willingness to learn are essential - you should be comfortable being handed a project and attacking it on your own, asking questions as needed.
* Willingness to follow web standards and coding guidelines.
* Personality and sense of humor mandatory!
* Experience with Linux, SSH, or Subversion is a plus.
* Experience with web scalability problems a definite bonus.
* Located in the US.
Benefits (what we can offer):
* Work where you choose - collaborate online with the other coders and staff members.
* Work when you choose - set your own schedule, work around classes and homework.
* Earn real-world experience working on a dynamic website and the problems involved
* Have your code used by thousands of users daily.
* And of course, make some spending money!
How to apply:
* Email jobs@subeta.net, and attach your resume.
* Include links to projects and examples of your work (or attach source code).
* Let us know when you can interview.
* While you wait to hear from us, learn to use IRC - it's how we collaborate.

I'd be up for it, but the US location requirement nixes me. Shame that. I could use the cash, and the reference (plenty of experience, but references from small Chinese companies tend to draw strange looks, and awkward questions).

Instead of reposting this notice in the news (to keep it at the top of the page, I assume), I think it would be more efficient to post a site-wide notice like you've done in the past with new Keith Answers and WoW recruitments.
Anyway, good luck to everyone applying!

Ack. I wish I could apply. I'm learning all this in college right now. Wouldn't be ready for it though.

If I had to guess, I'd assume the reason it has to be in the US is because Agoge Inc/Subeta is a US-based company, and I'm sure figuring out the taxes and laws what not for everyone from other countries is a pain in the ass xD Of course, there are already a few non-US citizens hired by Subeta, but it's probably a going forward thing. I could be wrong but hey xD

Is this open to US people only? I've got a friend who's just finished computing at Degree level and could possibly do this.. Only catch is he lives in the UK.. Wasn't sure if it'd matter much if its online work.
