Efren's Tale

One day young Efren fell asleep on his bed
while his classical old record, how lovely it did spin
instead of charming dreams of Chopin,
a nightmare Efren did have
a mighty fire, a flutter of wings, a crackle of bones, or a ferocious roar of the undead?
when he finally awoke, drenched head to toe in sweatit appeared to be nighttime,
..but quite the opposite instead!
Its seems as young Efren slept, a bad nightmare it must have been
as sulfur, smoke and sadness seemed to have leaked out from his head!
it followed him everywhere, be it night or be it day
no matter how hard young Efren tried, everywhere it did chase!
a week from that faithful day, he had yet not to sleep
the rare few times he did try, he tossed and turned like the mighty sea
he sat upon his bedroom floor
and with salt drew 'round him a circle and began to read
desperate to find antidotes for his illness he did seek
as a the weeks turned to months, and thus to years,
young Efren amassed quite an ammount of paraphernalia to hopefully keep at bay his fears
shells and candles, even a lucky rabbits foot
around him still flowed his whirl of soot
he swore quietly to himself that night (even if he did go mad)
he'd find the remedy to the darkness that still crept
he has not slept a day, now, not even a blink
do you think perhaps he'll find it yet?
