There was something beyond comforting as he curled up closer, large heavy arms enveloping him.The man chuckled, his soft baritone voice muttering, "Okaaayyy, one more time and then it's off to bed, kiddo. Agreed?"
"Yup. Agreed!" Piped in the child as he linked his pinky with the older man's. Sitting back they both started to sing quietly.

"Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.

The child lifted up his hand, bracelets jingling with each movement. A small sphere of liquid appeared, growing from the size of a marble to a tennis ball. The sphere slowly spun before gaining momentum, until wispy tendrils started to peel from around the orb. As if by some unknown force the water started to move in a wave like manner mimicking a stream. The boy picked up a little yellow toy boat and placed it ontop of the floating fluid.

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.

The man smiled and in the blink of an eye the room filled with a menagerie of liquid creatures, cantering horses, swimming blue whales, soaring eagles. Each watery creation dancing around the room to the tune of their master. Circling the father and son. Listening to the mans silent commands. The boys eyes filled with awe, he lifted up a finger and giggled as a little water snail glided over his hand whilst two blackbirds bobbed about his feet.

Life is but a dream.

As the creatures waltzed around, the odd tail or flipper would catch the bedside nightlight and what reflected against the wall was a dazzling underwater spectrum. "Dad, they're beautiful!"
