Here Goes

You know, if I hadn't been snatched for dinner by Ainhoa’s grandmother I wouldn't have lived through all of these adventures.

I'd been climbing up the wall so I can run off into the fields in search of food. Just carelessly going about and forgetting to keep myself hidden on the grass. Out of nowhere I had fingers wrapped around me so fast, I was too stunned to react. As I was carried away all I saw was this fire coming closer to me, I trashed, whipped my tail, anything to get away, but the old woman was stronger than me.

When we reached the fire pit, the old woman pulled out a pan and poured oil on it, I nearly went limp right then and there. I kept thinking I'd never get to catch another cricket, dig for worms, bask on a rock with the sun on my back. All the things I wanted to do I'd never get to do kept running through my head until I heard this voice shout NO!! Trying to turn as much as I could I saw this young girl coming towards me. Her skin was so fair, she looked so sad seeing me struggling to get free, that as soon as she got to me she took me from her grandmother's hand and walked back to the wall I'd been trying to climb.

As she put me back on the wall and watched me reach the top she called out, but all I heard from her lips was ‘Ferka’ and since then I've kept the name for myself. I kept out of sight shortly after, but soon craved for something more than how I was living so I set out and now I'm living the adventures I never thought I would.

The best part of being on board the Rawnie Strazhno are the stowaways we've picked up along the way. All of the new friends I've made and the lizards/geckos that have joined our little crew. I keep them in line for the Captain. Make sure we are in tip top shape for the next job. I'm no handsome fellow, but I've seen the ladies looking my way. Just don't let my appearance fool you, I might seem nice, charming, even witty (so they tell me) but I can be vicious.

You would've been my next meal, but since you helped me escaped I spared you. Now all I hear is your cricket-y sounds, but it helps me sleep. You brought me luck so I call you Baxtalo meaning Lucky.
