"Five days ago a butterfly landed on a branch in front of me. It fluttered for a moment... then it froze, and turned into this." Duskfeather held out a small amulet in the form of a blue butterfly. "I was hoping you could tell me what it was."

Mistryl considered the amulet for a moment, then returned it to Duskfeather. "This is a rare and precious gift. Though I serve the Powers and can call upon them at need, the ability to summon the avatars has not been given me. Clearly you are destined for great things, Duskfeather."

"Great things? Avatars? I don't understand. I don't know how to call the Powers! That's a shaman's place. I don't even know what Powers I would call on."

Mistryl smiled. "It is indeed a shaman's place to call the Powers. I myself usually call upon the powers of light and earth. But you -- you I think are a creature of wind and fire."
