Charien led a very sheltered and nomadic life when she was with her tribe. It was quite an odd life for her as she had always felt the need to explore and learn new things. Through a series of coincidences this led to her rambling too far from home and being drawn into witchcraft and dark magic. She has been quite naive in her actions and does not realise that she is being manipulated, not only by Galazore, her teacher, but also by Aspen. Even when she left home she could not completely leave behind the girl that she had been.

Even though her body is changing as the dark magic alters her soul, Charien still dresses in a hippyish fashion to remind her of the beaches on which her childhood was built.
