"I was supposed to evolve with all of the other Ivysaurs and Bulbsaurs in a ceremony held by a wise, old Venusaur that rarely passes through our town...but I couldn't. All of the Ivysaurs, became the great, towering Venusaurs that protect this town from Team Rocket and the other bad guys. No matter how hard I tried, I didn't evolve, I couldn't. But, for some strange reason my trainer wasn't upset with me, neither were Ghibli and Mudbray, I don't know why...I was so angry with myself, why didn't they feel the same way?" He reaches towards his bow and brings out a small stone from behind it. The stone is unfamiliar to you, but you can't help but feel like you've seen it before. "It's a mega stone," Springroll says softly, wiping off the dirt with one of his vines "my trainer bought it for me as a gift for evolving into a Venusaur, but it never happened, even after all of the countless battles, Pokecenter visits, hours of training, and even league championship victories. I've seen my trainer with other pokemon from every region we've visited, battling, training, and becoming close friends. And every single one of those pokemon has evolved, at least those that can. Why can't I?" Springroll's voice begins to sound resentful and angry and his grip on the stone seems like it's going to break it.

One of Springroll's vines wraps tightly around your wrist, while the other clutches the stone. You begin to sympathize with the poor Ivysaur, but before you could say anything you hear someone's voice calling for Springroll and quickly he runs off with you towards the voice, one vine still wrapped around your wrist, while the other wipes away the tears and tucks the mega stone away into his bow. 'Could it be his trainer?'

After meeting with Springroll's trainer and the other two pokemon, a Mudbray and Gible, you continue on your own path to raise your own team. As you leave, you think about Springroll and the promise you made to see him at the league.

"Hey!" You hear a familiar voice yell out to you and turn around to see the Ivysaur you met on your path to the league. Something's different though, his eyes are brighter than the last time you saw him. "Hello again trainer, it's me, Springroll!" He jumps into your arms and your legs buckle under his weight, but Springroll holds you two up with his vines. Even though you told him your name when you first met, he still insists on calling you trainer. "I'm here to battle the league with my trainer and friends," Behind Springroll you see a team of pokemon practicing their moves and telling each other what moves and strategies need polishing. You recognize the Mudsdale and Garchomp, but the other 3 are unfamiliar "are you going to battle as well?" He brings out his mega stone again "This time, I'll get to use it. I can tell." You assure him that he will and tell him to imagine what he will look like as a Venusaur so that he can continue to stay motivated. You imagine it as well, he's grown on you.

Springroll runs off to his evolved friends to continue sharpening his strategies after wishing you luck. You take a break from your own training to watch his team. He moves around the others with surprisingly great agility for an Ivysaur, but then again he's spent his life honing his skills so that he too could join the ranks of evolved pokemon. You've never actually seen him battle though and you look forward to it, you look forward to battling Springroll, but you can't wait until he evolves and uses his precious mega stone.

Moveset: Sunny Day, Sludge Bomb, Giga Drain, Earthquake

'What timing.' You may not be his trainer, but you feel just as proud for the behemoth that was once a misty eyed Ivysaur. Just as you remember the mega stone, Springroll begins glowing once again, but it's different this time, it looks more like waves of light and fire are emanating from his stone, body, and trainer.

You stare at him in awe as you watch the battle and cross your fingers, hoping he can defeat the league.

"Venusaur, use sludge bomb!"
