Straight-laced, stuffy, stilted in speaking, and socially awkward, Yinglong - aka Prince He Who Calls With A Voice Of Thunder And The Clouds Answer, Prince-In-Exile of the Storm Dragon Courts - makes an unlikely police officer. And an even more unlikely candidate for head of the IIA, the Empress of New Albion's personal police force and spy network. But behind the shiny shoes and scaly skin is a man blessed with a quick mind and nerves of steel; few would deny that Yinglong is courageous, loyal, compassionate, and devoted to his duty to protect his Empress and country. He has a deep passion for justice and following the rules, though often finds the former often clashes with the latter.
His other interests include drinking lots of tea, reading crime fiction, cleaning his flat, opera, geology, collecting fossils, crosswords, and amateur necromancy. Despite his boring reputation leading one to believe that he would also prefer bland foods, Yinglong enjoys cracked black pepper and candied lime zest on his porridge, flavours his coffee with cinnamon and ginger, and will happily eat his bodyweight heavily spiced yeti meat dumplings.

After losing his right arm in an assassination attempt that he was unable to prevent, Yinglong stepped down from his post and spent a year in a depression not even his family and closest friends could shift him from. But his best friend Robin applying for a private detective's licence, swiftly another attempt on the Empress' life - on the day of 20th Annual Liberation Day Festivals no less - found Yinglong stepping back into the world of crime and danger. Little did he know that he would soon take on a case that would not only decide the future of New Albion, but of two worlds: Earth and the Borderlands.
