Venge: an obsolete or poetic verb meaning "to avenge" or "to take vengeance." Its name meaning is deeply tied to the concept of inflicting retribution or punishment for a wrong.
Avenge: a verb focused on seeking justice or righting a wrong for someone else, often with honorable intent.
Revenge: a noun (but can be a verb) describing a personal, often vengeful, act of retaliation for harm done to oneself, driven more by personal grievance than pure justice.
Vengeance: a noun focused on a calculated, broader, or even righteous retribution, sometimes on behalf of others, with a stronger sense of justice or duty.
Scavenger: an organism that feeds on dead animals, decaying plant matter, or waste. In broader terms, it refers to a person who searches through refuse or discarded items to collect useful things.
A scavenger monster from the cursed forest is a terrifying creature mutated by dark magic. It silently tracks travelers, feasts on carrion, and repurposes the gear of lost adventurers. These creatures rely on the rotting vegetation, carrion, and misfortune born from magical corruption to survive. These beasts often have features made of twisted wood, decaying animal parts, and glowing, hollow eyes.
They are highly adapted to locate and consume decaying meat, Many of these monsters scavenge armor, weapons, and magical items off of previous victims . They may attach these metal bits to their own bodies as primitive armor or use them in traps. Instead of running down prey, they hide among shifting trees, blending in perfectly with the rotting foliage and eerie forest fog to drag unsuspecting travelers into the shadows.

Appearance:
Habitat: The deepest, most suffocating portions of a cursed, blighted woodland, often near hangman trees or petrified timber.
Abilities: This creature has a paralyzing screech and leaves behind a sticky, necrotic residue. It is known to stitch together the bones and armor of past victims to create a terrifying, camouflaged exoskeleton.
Combat Style: It avoids direct combat when possible, preferring to scavenge from the fallen. If cornered, it hurls decaying, cursed bone shards or uses its barbed limbs to ensnare foes, dragging them deep into the shadows.
a big bird, like a condor, a big dead bird, dead and falling apart, rotting, with a bone head.
here is now a shadow in one of the blurs of light, a shadow like a bird’s head on a long, snaky neck, swiveling. There is a patch of light in the shadow where an eye would be. Val bites her lip hard to try to wake herself up, but she’s already awake. She reaches out for the shadow, and it feels strangely cold on her hand, even though she knows that streetlights don’t throw enough heat for her to be able to feel a temperature difference between light and shadow.
As she starts to close the window, a great black shape attaches itself to the window screen and starts to ooze through.

she notices that this movie has an extra figure in the background. It’s the same guy as before, and he stays in the background all through the commercials, too; he’s staring at the camera and getting closer, though he’s not yet close enough for her to make out his features.
smells like “leaf mold and mushrooms and the wet places near seeps in the woods.”
it is terribly, bitterly cold
a big, bird-shape flashes across the sun, and then disappears.
a dull, squishy thumb like a “slap from a glove full of Vaseline.”
grabs its bare skull and crushes it. The head comes away from the body, maggots and rot sliming down her hand as the bone gives way, and the body collapses at her feet in a pile of dirty feathers and stinking flesh.
It silently shadows parties through the fog, waiting for someone to become unconscious or separated before sweeping them into its bag to be scavenged later.
