Love Has It's Ways...

bold italic underline

My vision surely had to be deceiving me, for such beauty could not be encompassed into one single being!
But, alas, while I felt my heart thumping so heavily in my chest, I blinked and she had all but disappeared, instead only a bird fleeing into the skies was left.
What had caught my eye was not her supple body, nor her shining hair and delicate clothing, but as she turned from the messenger she had been speaking with, her eyes danced with a burning passion not even the blind could miss. Her outer beauty was exquisite, yes, but the innermost elegance had caused my heart to beat faster, harder, leaving my blood running both hot and cold all at once.

These feelings were not unfamiliar, yet they were as I watched the bird disappear into the distance; my mortal love, no matter how often I thought of her smile and tender touches, held no beauty to the woman that I had just seen. No twinge of guilt could rid me of this feeling of infatuation, for the love that once belonged to Oriantha had long since became cold, what with my being unable to return to her in favor of serving the great God's and Goddesses who returned to me my vision so as to see my beloved had only been a fraud.
But this woman, who certainly could not be alone and without a man to cherish her, she radiated beauty and poise I had never before seen in a woman. Before more thoughts on her could muster up into my every thought, I felt my companion, Mirzel, gently peck into my hand and pull me from my thoughts.
His feathers ruffled in worry as I looked down at him, then spotted the rope and other supplies I had been carrying strewn across the ground where I had dropped it. "All is well, Mirzel, my attention was pulled away. I apologize. Come, my friend, we should return before it becomes too dark to see where we place our feet!"
I cast one last glance back to where the woman, turned bird, had disappeared amongst the rays of the sleeping sun, and smiled to myself before beginning the voyage to where my Lady, the Goddess Lilith, awaited our return with news of the crops to be harvested.

'You must be careful of that one, my Lord Iflinoch. She is the Lady Serris, Goddess of Life and the Lost. Our Lady Lilith would not hold punishment should she find out of your infatuation with her younger sister, I fear.' Mirzel's voice, calm and soothing, reverberated in my head gently, taking me by surprise that such a woman was the younger sister of the Goddess I had been asked to serve under.
But still, my heart thumped impatiently within my chest as I thought of this Lady Serris. Keeping quiet was all I could do with these feelings of mine, and so I would. A demi-God could not instigate a relationship with a Goddess, nor could it become known in the reverse manner. Yes, it would be best to avoid this woman for now, as certain trouble would arise that neither God's or demi-God's would wish to hear of.

Lady Serris
Lady Serris, your beauty is beyond exsquisite; it is a shame our ending came too soon.
