The Regrets of a Goddess

bold italic underline

To be loved by a Goddess takes little effort.
To love a Goddess takes effort on part of the deity.
For a Goddess to fall in love means secrets must be kept.
For the lover to be a lesser Lord, a servant, of your highest sister means those secrets must never be leaked.

But when such secrets come out, it means someone will pay dearly.
The anger of a God or Goddess is...indescribable, in many ways.
And when the anger is directed at a younger sister, mistakes are made and blame is placed upon the younger.
That is when the love of anothers life is taken and sealed away forever, their life source taken by the higher deity and the blame placed upon the lower deity.

Those who said that nothing is fair in love and war were far from wrong, but neither were they right.
And my penance was and will forever be, by far, the worst ever recorded amongst my siblings and those who serve us.
But all I can do is accept my punishment for crimes I did not commit.

Lady Serris, Goddess of Earth, Protector of Light, Lover and Betrayer of Lord Iflinoch, Former Goddess of Life, Former Protector of the Lost

A Love Long Forgotten

Smiles were frequent on her face, despite her job of helping those in need out of positions where they could not escape on their own. Often, she was troubled by what she had to witness those lost souls endure, and often tears came when she was forced to watch their life drain away and fall into the hands of her brother; he reassured her though, as the merchant of Death was far kinder than most of her siblings. He made her smile when she lost her cherished souls to him.

And he once told me, as he was the only other soul to know of our companionship, that should I ever chose to harm her, body, mind or spirit, that I will be thrust from this world without so much as a sign of anger. In turn I told him that should I ever decide to do such a thing, I would forfeit my own soul to him willingly. And that made the two of us much closer, indeed. Our secret was kept by Chernobog, because he knew that Lady Serris and I should have either been mortals to live and grow old together, or both should had been demi-god and demi-goddess so we may not keep our love for each other quiet.

Of course, I truly did not mind that we were to keep quiet of such things. Love was fickle, after all. Nothing can change the facts that love is felt for another, or not in many cases. The way we would hold hands when in her realm of beauty, of how she smelled so serenely of tropical flowers blooming, and ocean water, the touch of her skin against my hands, the way her eyes would always twinkle when she spied me. She was everything I could have ever wished to have and hold, and nothing could change those feelings.

She would forever be mine, and I would forever be hers. No consequences of our love could change my undying love for the Lady Serris.

Written Words of Lord Iflin, Overseer of the Crops, Lord under the Goddess Lilith, Caretaker and Guide for Souls Embarked

Betrayer Unnoticed

The day had been quite eventful for the two, not that it mattered as their love for each other continued on strongly, despite the position such a fact would, should it be made known to the other Gods and Goddesses, that their sister Goddess, the Lady Serris, had fallen for the lower Lord Iflinoch, Overseer of the Crops and Caretaker of Embarked Souls. Such a thing between the two was highly forbidden amongst their kind, as it led to dangerous happenings should siblings become jealous or angered. But they feared it not, for now at least. Lady Serris' brother and friend, the caller of the dead, promised he would forever keep their secret, and he relished in the fact that his younger sister felt such happiness where she had not before in times of strife; being Protector of the Lost was not an easy task for her and her gentle nature. The brutality of some cases where she was needed very often caused her heart to cry out in agony for the humans strife and tribulations, no matter if they brought such things upon themselves.

But this day, on the eve of the Hallows, not a voice beckoned for her, not a cry for help called to be lifted up and lent aid; she was not needed on this day, and so she had set out with her secret lover for a time where they could simply enjoy each others' company. Mirzel, Lord Iflinoch's companion and shape shifting familiar, had been brought along after informing his Lord that he could act as a tool to watch the Goddess Lilith, whom he was assigned to serve, as well as being an elder sister to Lady Serris; Lady Lilith was not a Goddess to cross, for she would bring down all of the hells upon whosoever she became angry with. She was not unkind, but her heart was still cold and jaded with her own duties to uphold the prosperity of the balance of Life and Death. Her jealousy towards Lady Serris was already a well known fact, and all she would need was the leverage to bring Lady Serris' happiness to a close. And so the two lovers allowed for Mirzel to accompany them. In the passing daylight, the two took turns in their shots of arrows toward the target that had been set up some yards away, all smiles and laughter as they exchanged friendly banter, Mirzel watching from the shade of an aging Elm tree, listening with a heavy heart and even heavier weight upon his shoulders.

Little did the two lovers know that this day would be their last together, that this would be the end note to their exquisite song, and much too late did they come to realize that a spy was in their midst, sent by the Lady Lilith in her contempt she felt for her younger sister. Lady Serris would soon become as jaded and angry as Lilith, as the Goddess of Balance would tilt the scales far to the side of death, taking Lord Iflinoch from the realms for all eternity so as to relish in the pain she would cause her sister. And soon, a war amongst the God's would begin to make such a clamor that all would know of the wrongdoings and choices made by two sisters, one in love with a man she was not to feel for, the other filled with a hatred and jealousy for a sister that was given what she was denied. But for now, they would remain unawares of the spy, all smiles and laughter until the Hallows would come to leave despair locking around them like shackles to a wall of stone.
