Everything I have done, every order I have ever given was always for the Greater Good.

The Darkness... it's evil. Everyone who is anyone knows that it is dangerous... insidious. All the greatest deceivers and murderers use Darkness in one way or another. Even those of other elements have been infected with Darkness. So I did what was necessary.

The old system treated Darkness as an equal... as something that deserved rights. I knew that it had to stop. You do not offer a disease or a parasite civil rights. You stamp it out. You crush it under your boot. You make sure it cannot spread to others. And if you catch someone helping it; spreading it; you deal with them the same way that you deal with the disease.

Does that make you a bad person, when you stop someone from deliberately spreading disease? Does that make you a bad person to imprison them, or give them the death penalty? Does it make you a bad person to force them to face the consequences for their actions?

Why would it?

We have always extracted confessions of evil deeds from every Dark Magic user we have ever interrogated. They resist at first, but in the end, they always tell us the truly evil things they have done. Everyone confesses. That's how torture works. They'll always confess if they want the torture to stop. Once they do... well, it's just a matter of ensuring that their magic is neutered and the rest of their days are spent carefully supervised and under the direct control of a diligent and attentive supervisor.

It's necessary. After all, a confessed evil person cannot be allowed to walk unsupervised among the public now, can they? So, you torture them until they confess, then put them to death as a confessed criminal. Very neat. Very tidy. I am the Inquisitor, and everything I do is in the name of Justice.

I ask you, why should a Dark Magic user have rights or equality? Oh sure, they claim to have done no harm. They'll even claim that they've done good things. They'll cite the time they found a child in a pitch black hole in the ground, or the time they safely removed a brain tumor from a dying mother when all other medical attempts failed.

But let me tell you something, those people they "saved" are tainted now. Evil is like a seed. By allowing them close and by sympathizing with them, that seed has been placed within them. In time, they'll show support for them; allow them to live among us. I cannot allow that risk to exist. All evil, even potential evil, must be eradicated. That child? Tainted. That mother? Tainted.

So if that means I have to ensure that the seeds of evil are prevented from surviving within them, then that is what is necessary for the Greater Good. It doesn't matter if they are adult or child. If I must execute children to prevent the evil planted within them from their... "rescue" to grow, what of society? What harm could that infected child do as they grew? I say the risk is too great.

And of course, there's always the bleeding hearts, the ones corrupted by Darkness to support them. They insist that Dark Mages should have the same rights as any other good citizen. They say it's wrong to strike out at those who show kindness and compassion for Darkness. They mean well, I suppose, but in the end, it's still just another infection of Darkness to allow it to fester among the people.

We've had to gather those up too, and teach them a public lesson about supporting evil. A few public Examples made, and then everyone understands how necessary it is to keep Darkness out of their hearts. The damage is really quite minimal, overall.

It's sad that damage has to be done at all. Truly, it's tragic. But in the end, the Darkness will be rubbed out, and a clean, wholesome community will be born. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, and that's all I have been doing.

Well well well... Some of those eggs are trying to break into my Sanctum. This I cannot allow. They say that I am wrong, that I must be stopped, as if I were a Dark Mage myself! They dare to judge me! ME!

How dare they judge me?! I am Tahrovin! I am the Inquisitor! They are the corrupted ones!

But first I must calm down. I must be calm... calm in all things. What better way to destroy all their 'righteous' anger than by calmly and rationally ending their little insurrection with the proper show of force?

Yes. That is what I will do.

I must simply meditate on the motto; "Obedience, purity, and the proper amount of force."

Today, the proper amount of force will break enough eggs to make an omelet fit for a feast.
