it's not just black and white

Despite the pouting expression that he usually sports, Cobalt is actually an emotional and affectionate person that goes out of his way to care for others. Make no mistake though; he's not clingy nor desperate for the attention and is more than willing to use his tail to smack anyone deserving of a reality check.

BACKSTORY
Born into one of the largest orca merfolk pods on record, Cobalt was raised by his grandmothers and taught to be a very loving, forgiving, and understanding person. He and his siblings lived in a healthy, happy environment for years and it looked like his idyllic life would go on forever. Unfortunately, tragedy struck he and one of his brothers.
Royal and Cobalt were forcefully removed from their pod by black market poachers who cornered them in a bay. Devastated by their situation the two fought hard to escape but eventually were sold to an aquarium. They were made to perform against their will, spurred on by constant verbal and emotional abuse, threatened daily and intimidated by unethical means of "encouragement".
Gradually the two began to lose hope that they would be freed. Royal, being the younger and more vulnerable of the two, had had enough one night and while Cobalt slept, he chose to do the irreversible. Cobalt found him the next morning and ever since, he has never been the same.
It was only a few days later that the police were alerted by a whistleblower of what was happening. Cobalt was taken from the aquarium and brought to Eden Marina where he could receive the therapy and assistance he needed. His pod is able to visit him whenever they'd like and so they often do, but sadly Cobalt will never be able to return to the sea with them after the pain and trauma he faced in captivity.
Nowadays Cobalt has become an iconic advocate for the fight against trafficking of mythical beings, particularly those forced to become performers or trophies. He always shares Royal's story, speaking out against the injustices against his baby brother, and will continue to do so until he exhales his last breath.
