A bright giggle sang through the apartment, the smells of baking bread mingled with the laugh. A young man working in the kitchen next to an even younger girl that stood on a stool next to him. "Mix slowly, just like I showed you." A proud smile and gentle hand on the back. "That's right. You've got it. Almost mixed." The girl giggled again as she moved the spatula in the bowl under her father's relaxed gaze. "Alright that's all done. Now let's pour it into the pan." He said as he lifted the bowl over the baking dish, holding it for her to move the spatula around and clean out the bowl. Once it was done he put the bowl down on the counter, gave the pan a gentle shake to level out the batter. Turning a little he opened up one of the double ovens to slide the pan into the heated confines. "Now we just have to let it bake." He said beaming at his daughter that beamed right back.

It was picturesque to watch the tall, slender young man that had pale blue hair that was almost messy in its cut, watch over the little girl that wasn't much older then perhaps seven or eight. One could see how they were related, she looked much like him in many ways. And the love that shown in his eyes for the little girl was clear. No ring bound his finger, no necklace bore a ring. Only metal he had on his person was in his upper ears. Only a photograph that hung on the wall among all the others of them spoke of a woman that could be her mother. But there seemed to be no sadness in this life, only joy, laughter and a love of baking by both of them.
