Yoko Kurama was one of the most infamous thieves of the spirit world, that was until he was wounded by a bounty hunter and forced into hiding, however his hiding place was not in some remote location but instead inside an earth womans womb and became her unborn son Shuichi. He planed on only staying on Earth long enough for his body to heal and his powers to return but there was one thing he didnt plan on...
While on Earth he began to learn emotions, such as love, this was strange to the kitsune for he had never gotten love or kindness from anyone, over time Kurama began to accept his role as Shuichi and began to love his Earth mother as if she were his own.
After fifth teen years Shuichis mother became gravely ill and had to be hospitalized, not wanting to see the woman he had caused so much trouble die, Kurama teamed up with Hiei Jaganshi and Gouki with intentions of retrieving the mystical item known as the Forlorn Hope which was a mirror like item which would grant reflect the users greatest desire on the night of a full moon.
The item was stolen just days after Yusuke Yurameshi became the new spirit detective and Kurama left the group to use the Forlorn Hope, he had hoped he would be able to return it to Yusuke once he had fulfilled his wish. However the Forlorn Hope price was rather large: in exchange for his mothers life Kurama must give his own. Yusuke knowing what a mother is like after she has lost her only son, jumped in and told the Forlorn Hope to take his own life instead. The Forlorn Hope acknowleged Yusukes noble deed and granted Kuramas wish without taking anyones life, now Kurama feeling respect towards Yusuke has joined the Spirit detective in his adventures.Pet Treasure
