THEY SAY that souls are always present, waiting to find a living shell to call home. They move quickly, in the cycle of life and death. There is no rules to where a soul will end up after it leaves it's current shell, but everyone knows that their destination is fate. However, nothing is perfect, not even the universe. Sometimes, the wires get crossed and souls end up in places they aren't supposed to be, leave at times they aren't supposed to leave.

Ivy was not meant to be here.

She was still there.

She had felt parts of it, her shell. Her body.

She felt her limbs. Slender. Delicate. Damaged. Her hair flowing down her back. Cold hands, bright lights, a rhythmic beep in the background. Voices. Was that crying? She goes to open her eyes.

And then it as quickly as she was there, she was gone.

IT IS MIDDAY in the city, and Ivy is sauntering down the busy sidewalk, avoiding the constant throngs of people with ease. She pulls her iPhone out of her white handbag, and checks the time. She is late. She steps haphazardly off the sidewalk, lithe arm raised in the air. A yellow figure in the distance gets bigger with time, and with a sharp motion pulls off to the side. She opens the door and gets in.

She motions to the building out the driver side window a short time later, handing the driver a handful of crumpled bills. Head down, she daintily ducks out of the cab, and takes a step forward.

She didn't even have time to scream before the metal met her bones.
