When I was young, I learned to read rather quickly. I loved books and submerging into other worlds, other lives, other realities. My life was either boring or traumatic. There was no real halfway point. Books always gave a nice ending. All rounded and happily ever after. No matter what the main protagonist had happen, it would work out in the end. 
Well of course I did.Credits:
A lot of the time, reading was far more interesting than anything in 'real life'. The bad times, like my parents yelling, or when dad left, meant my books were my only friends. I could feel the pain the characters felt and know they knew what I was going through. I could cry for them when I wasn't allowed to cry for me.
I would read after lights out with my little torch under the bedcovers. Occasionally mum would find it and scold me. But not too much, and she'd often leave it in the same drawer for me to find. My mum also loved to read, and I like to think she understood how much it helped.
I love books, I love reading. Now, if you don't mind, I'll get back to my book.
