Soleil means sun (and or blazing) in French.
He is an earth mage controlling lava, magma (under the ground), and solidified earth. He can exist in the state of all three, though he rarely turns himself into stone unless he is doing reconnaissance and needs to pretend to be a statue. He often exists as a black tiger with light grey stripes though water turns to steam when it hits him in this state. When he is angered his stripes begin to turn bright red until they looks like smoldering piles of debris.
In his more fluid state he can melt with lava or simply has his stripes melt off-through-around him as if he himself is lava. He can also swim through lava and enter the earths crust, at which point he would be come magma, able to withstand extremely dense pressure and high temperature variants.
