Bruse - Norwegian. The term "gruff" is a mistranslation of the Norwegian word "bruse," which refers to a tuft of hair on a goat's forehead, not a characteristic of their gruff personality.
Bruse Gruff is a stubborn old goat and a staple in Mornstead, and the oldest and most experienced troll hunter known. He helped to found the Hunters, and taught them everything he knew. Living in a cottage surrounded by a wide, grassy field, you can hear him and his two brothers trip, trap, trip, trap, trip, trap across a bridge every morning, on their way to gather supplies. They then begin their work at Hunters Headquarters, handcrafting weapons. Though elderly, they're hard-headed about retiring and have probably forgotten more about slaying trolls than you young whippersnappers have ever learned from your books and notes.
