A good boy

Nightmare. 1 : an evil spirit formerly thought to oppress people during sleep. 2 : a frightening dream that usually awakens the sleeper. 3 : something (as an experience, situation, or object) having the monstrous character of a nightmare or producing a feeling of anxiety or terror.

Once a long time ago the Sages decided to make the world, and so they made it, and humans and hybrids lived together. But evil exists, and it will keep on existing - when negative feelings started to prevail among the living, masses of negativity materialized from the unknown and took the shapes of all we dread, and so the nightmares were born.
Nightmares are insentient beings that form out of clustered negative feelings that come from living beings. They can be of any shape and size, and often take the form of that which scares them most. They feel no hunger or thirst, but are attracted to the ones who created them, and are able to possess and corrupt it. They aren't essentially evil, simply because they aren't sentient to know what evil means; they simply exist. When one living being creates more than one Nightmare, they are able to cluster together and form a new being, stronger than the ones before, and that's what makes them dangerous.
A corrupted being has no means of returning to what it was before - it mutates into something new and is no longer what it was. The Academy still looks for a way to try and bring corrupted beings back; so far, no attempts have been successful. Eyeless was the only one who as able to get some of its sentience and sanity back, although he retains little to no memory and concept of humanity; his human form will most likely never return.

It is unknown who Eyeless was as a living being - all it's know is that it used to be a male human child living somewhere among the desert. It is unknown what would have taken him to create so many Nightmares along his short life; after a lot of effort from the Academy, they were able to return to him some of his personality, speech and he was able to retain a constant physical form.
Eyeless has a calm and sweet personality and is able to form short, almost incomprehensible phrases; he now maintains the form of a medium-sized, canine-like creature, and is now a companion for Mies on his space adventures, a way he found to bring a bit of happiness to Eyeless' suffered life.
