the enthusiastic rookie

It's not easy being a teen.

I mean, most adults in my life keep saying that I should cherish my teenage years, and enjoy this period where I have little in the way of responsabilities and obligations.
Old enough to be taken seriously by them and yet, still unburdened by work, bills and other adulthood trials and tribulations.

As far as they know, I'm just a high school kid and I'm fine with that.

They have no idea what it's like to be a full-time high school student and a part-time volunteer superhero in this town.

I mean, nothing is more complicated than having to juggle with this double life.

Making sure that all of my coursework is done, and yet, also keeping an eye on evildoers around town - both agents of The Powers That Be, and independent villains that seek to cause trouble.

Getting A+ in calculus, being in the school band, making sure to be in time for debate club meetings, and also having spare time to hone my blooming florakinesis powers.

Preparing for college, and also trying my hardest to be recruited by an actual superhero team, rather than fending for myself in the streets!

Yeah, it really isn't easy being a teen and a superhero at the same time.

But when I think about it, I wouldn't wish on anyone to have a normal life, without heroics getting in the way. To just be stuck in school all day, with no city-saving activities on my schedule...that would just feel boring!
