Outer Star

Outer Star was a lonely star. He had no planets to orbit him, no moons to light up his nights, no comets to visit him once in a while. He was just a bright ball of gas in the vast emptiness of space, shining his light for no one to see.

He longed for companionship, for adventure, for something new and exciting. He wondered what it would be like to live on a planet, to feel the warmth of another star, to see the beauty of nature and life. He had heard stories from other stars, who had seen many wonders in their travels across the galaxy. But Outer Star was too far away from any other star, too isolated and remote.

One day, he saw a faint glimmer in the distance. He focused his attention and realized it was a spaceship, a metal contraption that carried living beings inside. He was curious and hopeful. Maybe they would come closer and talk to him, maybe they would invite him to join them, maybe they would show him their world.

He sent out a signal, a friendly hello in the universal language of light. He waited for a response, but none came. The spaceship kept moving, ignoring him completely. Outer Star felt a pang of disappointment and sadness. He wondered why they didn't notice him, why they didn't care.

He decided to follow them, to see where they were going. He used his gravity to propel himself forward, careful not to disturb the balance of the cosmos. He trailed behind the spaceship, keeping a safe distance. He hoped they wouldn't mind his curiosity, he hoped they wouldn't be angry.

As the ship propelled itself towards a planet, Outer Star realized he could not follow as the form he was. He transformed his body, using his light to shape and mold his matter. He reduced his size, his mass, his temperature. He changed his color, his texture, his features. He merged himself into the shape of a Yaherra. Plumage of blues and gold, with eyes upon stocks concealed by feathers. By the time he was done shifting his very own body, the spaceship had landed and thus, he was on the planet as well. Confused how neither the strange Tak or Starspun, a smaller Jollin noticed his presence.

Disembarking well after them, others around had merely assumed he was part of the crew and party. Well this would work out very well.

It was Tak who turned around, the central large eye wrapped around energy and tentacles that realized just what he was. "New" Tak warbled reaching for Outer Star.

Nervously, Outer Star nodded. "I am." His voice came out a haunting whisper, unlike the deep warble from Tak.

Starspun turned sharply. "How did you? Where -- " Confused he groaned. "I am not going back to the Rift." He declared. "Two new life forms from the Rift. Shadowcloud."

The serpent snaked his head around Starspun. "A Shape Shifter?" Shadowcloud asked his eyes brightening with curiosity and amazement.

"No, I can only do this once more." Outer Star clarified. "Hello."

"Hello." Shadowcloud greeted, waving his tail tip. After introducing everyone and the customary welcomes, he lead the way towards the observatory. "Friend?" Tak asked Outer Star.

"Friend." Outer Star beamed brightly. He was going to like it here he decided.
