Opo the Friendly Dolphin is what we called her, an orphaned young bottlenose dolphin from the small coastal town of Opononi, New Zealand. She visited the Opononi beach on the daily, gleefully interacting with the people in the shallows and playing with her favourite toy, a borrowed beach ball. She warmed the hearts of everyone who met her during her short summer of 1955.
