She had tasted death before. Experienced it. Not particularly enjoyable, if you ask her. She was never a lucky sort, but fortune smiled upon her when a budding necromancer did some experiments on her pilfered grave. Half-pulled back from the dead, she can experience all the vices of life with none of the consequences. A second chance at life-Er, semi-life, maybe? Of course, semi-life has its disadvantages. All your friends can, and in fact will, die of alcohol poisoning or old age, which is never fun.
The hot, muggy summer months are when booze tastes the best, and that night felt no different... It was vacation season, and Astaeria had decided to travel to a scenic oceanside settlement for a few weeks. Armed with a six-pack of beer, she was about to settle down into some late-night drinking on the beach—but it seems that someone, or something else had the same idea.
