Early morning in the castle had light shining through the linen curtains of a certain knight's room. The bed, however, was empty. Being the prince's bodyguard was a taxing job physically and sometimes mentally. One had to be ready to face the extreme challenges of the job and it wasn't for the faint of heart. Conditions were grueling at times and the physical reward was not often that great. It wasn't the money that kept her going but rather the sense of pride and accomplishment. She would puff her chest out a little further and stand a little taller at the acknowledgement she would receive from the prince and other royalty alike. She was commended by other knights for her abilities on and off the battle field. She was brave, loyal and steadfast. More importantly she was not just a protector but a friend. Someone you could go to for advice or a friendly joke.
Morgana took great pride in her duty. Some knights were silent around their charge and merely acted as statues. Morgana didn't believe in that. If she was going to spend her time hauling things for you and risking her life for your safety she was going to make conversation with you whether you liked it or not. Luckily, Prince Haegan was easy to talk to and get along with. He treated her like family and she likewise. Because of this friendship they had established, she had no qualms about getting up early with him even if more than half of the castle were still sleeping soundly in their beds. Most of the castle was comprised of royalty so they tended to sleep until they wished to get up. Morgana and even the prince had no such luxury however, especially after the recent events.
The prince's parents had been assassinated in their own bedroom a few days earlier and the only witness was Morgana's sister, Agnes.
