A strange little monster

Cheerios is a monster. More specifically, he was born to a race of monsters so terrifying and so feared in our world, that their presence among us is considered legendary. He is a Monster Under the Bed.

However, despite his outward appearance, Cheerios is a timid and gentle creature. Born under a standard size twin bed and named after an item frequently dropped underneath it, he was raised to be fearsome. His mother worked tirelessly to try to make him frightening. He had endless lessons on baring his teeth and growling. He learned how to make mysterious creaking sounds, and how to give off an eerie presence. But no matter how many lessons he had, his mother could never succeed in turning Cheerios into a true monster, for his heart was not filled with evil and spite like others of his kind. Instead, she ceased her lessons and encouraged Cheerios to simply be himself, accepting the fact that the child under who's bed they lived would never be haunted by a true Monster Under the Bed.

Older now, but still as gentle as ever, Cheerios has grown fond of the child who's room he occupies, and he spends his days collecting the small items that are occasionally dropped underneath the bed. Although unsure of what most things are, he treasures each item that finds its way to him.

His favorite item is a thimble, which he occasionally wears as a hat.
