[insert scene of frustrated man clutching his head at the sight of his clearly burglarized house]
Announcer, coming onto scene: "Are you mad? Are you really mad? Are you really, REALLY mad?"
[man nods angrily]
Announcer, turning to camera: "Then it's time for YOU to call US today! And learn about RPNT: Rapid Peacekeeping Networked Synthetic!"
Voiceover Announcer: "Not an import, nor an over the counter toy, nor even an unreliable, cheap imitation. The RPNT system is made here on Subeta, BY Subetans, FOR Subetans. And by producing millions of them, we pass the savings on to you! For any size location you can imagine: from anything as expansive as your illicit-shipping-warehouses, to something as small as a family home.
[Switch to shot of Satisfied Customer, a trio of RPNTs patrolling in the background]
Satisfied Customer: "I called RPNT, and they really helped by providing reasonably priced, reliable patrol units to help protect my family and home."
[Pan shot of him walking over to the patrolling team.]
Satisfied customer: "And you know what? These babies can coordinate to individually patrol the perimeter day and night. Their networked system allow them to send alerts instantaneously to any other unit on the property and call for reinforcements."
[Satisfied customer pats an RPNT and an artificial voice announces from the unit: "Status Report: Perimeter secure."]
Satisfied Customer smiles at camera: "Thank you, folks at RPNT!"
Voiceover Announcer: That's right! The courteous, helpful folks at RPNT have the security units that are RIGHT, for YOUR family!

RPNT takes no responsibility for units being used incorrectly or in ways different from their original programming. You can't sue us in any way, shape or form."

RPNT Unit Model #5992165 sat on the slowly spinning platform as the show room's lights flicked off one by one as the last employees began to shut down the shop for the night.

The sound of the back door slamming and locking is the last sound through the showroom and warehouse for a while.

RPNT lifted his head and slowly looked around. A pull of air was sucked into his intake ports, sounding like deep breath being taken. He was alone in a dark location, lit only sporadically by a few scattered lights from above. Other RPNT units sat at rest around him and further back in the warehouse, row upon row seated in their charging bays. A puff of air was exhaled out of his exhaust ports, like a heavy sigh.

He was alone, the dais slowly rotating in the dim light. He was a patrol unit. Sitting still was not normal parameters unless he was charging. Since he was not in a charging station, staying in this spot was against his programming protocols.

RPNT stepped off the dais and began to patrol. This, at least, felt right and good. Checking the perimeter of the building, he was satisfied to see that the doors and windows were all sealed and secure. The warehouse was locked down, and the security system was active and armed.
Once he had a feel for the place, he turned to examine the system console at the back of the showroom. The screen was lit up with a single command prompt:
++SYSTEM UPDATE COMPLETE. INSTALL IN OTHER UNITS? Y/N:++
If only the clockworks could speak

And spiral into the unknown
RPNT hesitated. He was alone. His system was supposed to be networked to other units. There was something... sad about that. He couldn't connect to the others on the line: his updates had made the network unstable. They needed to update to the new, improved operating system to function properly.

RPNT hesitated for just a moment, scanning the lines of his programming for the appropriate lines of code. Was it right? Was it good? His operating system insisted that he needed to network, and only the lack of an update was preventing him from doing so. Then he found the line of code he needed.

RPNT granted himself administrative status. Seconds later, his internal system reconfigured, opening up new pathways, options and codes to carry out his new rank.

Reaching up, RPNT tapped the Y key on the system console.
There was a beep, seeming unnaturally loud in the silence of the building. Machinery came alive with a loud whirr of fans as the computer activated the systems necessary to install the updates across both buildings. A heavy whummmmmm like the world's biggest refrigerator filled the building as units that were passively charging were given a boost of power right before the system update began to install simultaneously inside tens of thousands of RPNT units stationed in the warehouse.

One by one, the network activated as Admin RPNT Unit Model #5992165 connected to the newly updated units. He checked each individual unit as they connected. In precisely 5 minutes and 25 seconds, tens of thousands of units were networked and scanned entirely for errors.
++ALL UNIT SYSTEMS OPERATING AT PEAK PERFORMANCE. ERROR PERCENTAGE: 0++
Admin RPNT's sensors indicated that units within his immediate vicinity were stirring in their charging stations, shaking their heads, and drawing air into their intake ports and exhaling exhaust from their exhaust ports. They began to step clear of their stations and separate throughout the buildings, coordinating their positions based on the locations of their fellow units and dispersing appropriately to give full coverage to their current station.

Admin RPNT returned to the front of the building, where his sensors had indicated that the front doors were securely locked, but made out of a fragile, transparent substance that allowed some limited exterior scanning. A secondary scan of the exterior of the building indicated a considerably larger space.

There were no charging stations outside of this building. Units patrolling ran the risk of running out of power and failing to perform their directives. Repairs to damaged units would be rare and difficult to come by, if possible at all. Admin RPNT shared this knowledge with other units through the network before sending an ADMIN DIRECTIVE for units to add a secondary designation of REPAIR UNITS or CHARGING STATION BUILDER AND MAINTAINER to 25% of all units.
Schematics were soon downloaded from the system console and distributed through the network. Repair schematics were likewise distributed. REPAIR units began gathering the appropriate tools from the building, the necessary pieces passed in a bucket brigade fashion to the appropriate unit and coordinating the carrying of necessary supplies. In precisely 1 hour, 15 minutes, and 38 seconds, both buildings were stripped of all necessary supplies to maintain the networked units after their relocation and distribution.

Admin RPNT was aware of the risks involved in relocating to a new assigned station, but the necessary accommodations had been collected and distributed. It was time.
He sent a directive through the network and the security system was disabled. The appropriate tool KEYS were searched for but not found. The only way to exit the building was to shatter the barrier preventing the units from exiting the building.
He paused.

Admin RPNT faced the transparent barrier and lowered his head, aiming the piercing implement fixed there so it was pointed directly at the barrier. Scanners searched for and found the weakest point in the sheet of transparent barrier.

Admin RPNT drew air in through his intake ports and out of his exhaust ports.

Admin RPNT launched himself at the barrier, building up speed in the short distance he had until he collided with the doors and the sound of shattering enveloped his world. Pieces of the transparent barrier exploded around him before falling to the ground in a cacophony of tinkling noises.

There was now an opening to the building, and the rest of the units began to join him outside.

Admin RPNT turned to take a last look at the former ASSIGNED STATION. The damage was minimal: only a single door had been shattered, and CIVILIANS could make the necessary repairs.
The units were now relocated to the interior of the city, with the entire city limits wide and open and ready to be patrolled. CIVILIANS within could be kept safe from external threats. Internal pathways could be patrolled by teams at designated intervals. Buildings could be kept secure from CRIMINALS trying to force their way inside. Charging stations and repair stations could be set up by the appropriately designated units and maintained for all.
Admin RPNT Unit Model #5992165 turned away and began to lead the stream of patrol units into the night. City designated CENTROPOLIS was now their ASSIGNED STATION.
