𝓐 chipper fellow to be sure, Umi's slight frame consistently haunts the coastal reaches of Japan.
From the surfer-primed crests of Jodogahama, the picturesque white sands of Aka-jima Island, to the isolated tranquility of Shiroyama, this Shiba's experienced it all!

𝓗ailing from the city of Kyoto, Umi's inborn breed tenacity resulted in an unquenchable desire to explore.
Nobody knows exactly where he came from. Despite this, locals never wasted time in wondering too much. The city's historical significance- combined with its sacred aura- resulted in most silently agreeing the little dog is a symbolic gift of kaiun: luck and prosperity.

𝓢miles alight people's faces when Umi passes by, pawsteps light and dancing, leaving a trail of enchanted bubbles in his wake.
More oft than not, a tiny, ginger-coloured Cuttlefish nestles between his ears- a friend he made whilst swimming off the coast of Honshu.
Named Nami, which translates to wave, Umi's aquatic magic permits the cephalopod to live outside the ocean's dangerous depths. The two oddities are inseparable, consistently exploring together in search of inspiring sights and humbling stories.

𝓣hough intrepid travelers at heart, the pair also spend plenty of time appreciating homely comforts.
One of Umi's favourite activities include meditating at one of Kyoto's many Shinto shrines, sending prayers to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu Ōmikami. Giving thanks to the sun's warmth and life-giving rays is a paramount belief in his soul, so he always makes space to send his thoughts and thanks to the sky.
When feeling more playful, he's also frequently seen entertaining carp at many local koi ponds, utilising his water-based magic to create mythical bubble and wave displays. He also loves lounging in his backyard with his seal pillow, listening to the gentle taps of nearby shishi-odoshi*.

𝓚ind, soulful, empathetic, and cheerful, Umi No Shio's presence always reminds those that, though life can be an uphill struggle, sometimes the smallest of creatures can introduce a wealth of peace and contentedness.
