You want gossip? I've got gossip. I work at the Bathhouse, see, so I hear everrrrrythang. Want to know who's on Maleria's LIst? I know. She was just ranting to Ying about it, and also implying that she should be informed if said persons came for a bath. So she could, I don't know, curse the waters or something. Want to know who Saggitarious is currently showering in gifts? I saw who went in with him. (You would never guess! I can guarantee it!) Want to know the latest from the Blue Building? Look, I'm not one for business, but they practically had a conference while taking a Flower Bath so I could give you the gist of it.

And want to know what kind of muck Zvi just showed up covered in? Probably only Rakover would care to know, and he doesn't come here. I wouldn't want to get my girl in trouble anyway. We share all the juiciest tidbits - well not all of them. Sometimes she doesn't think my tidbits are very juicy. Gets bored easily, that one. Doesn't mind letting you know either. But you know what? I don't mind. I like to be played straight with. And she brings her own tidbits, so we swap stories while I scrub tubs. Makes the work go faster, and sometimes if we're slammed she even runs bath tags for us. She expects her dues at the end of the day, of course - or whenever it is that she decides to leave - and Ying always grumbles about not having remembered hiring her, but she always pays out. None of the clients have ever complained about her, after all. Zvi runs errands for lots of folk, she knows how to be civil when she needs to be. She'll make an ugly face behind your back, but she's civil to your face.

You know what else I'm really good at, besides scrubbing tubs, picking out the perfect scent combo to put you in just the right mood, and making sure the gossip mill runs smoothly all around me? Making playlists. Ohhhh gurl I can line up some tunes. I've got some of the top played lists on Specify, and I'm constantly building onto them, adding new sub-moods you hadn't even thought of naming but definitely felt, tasting all the new albums, searching out all the new and obscure artists... honey there isn't a thing I haven't heard.

Sometimes, when I can get some rare time off, my girl and I head to a concert. Zvi isn't actually super into music, she just goes for the Chaos, but since I work all the time I'm a bit low on friends, and at least she's always game to go, no matter who's playing. She's also definitely not old enough to get into some of these venues - no one knows exactly how old she is, but one can guess a range - but all she has to do is flash her Maleria pass and she's in. Working for the goddess has it's perks. Not many, but there are some. Don't go asking Zvi about Maleria though - she'll start going off on how Maleria can't possibly be a god, not by her standards, and this will probably get you into loads of trouble. Why doesn't Zvi ever get into trouble? Look. Our girl is awesome at inventing trouble and then narrowly not catching it. Any budding agents of chaos should be following her and taking notes. Seriously.

When I go home to my apartment - which is often late, and only to turn around and get up before dawn to hit the books again - let me tell you it is straight up Vibes. I wish I lived in Centropolis, in a highrise studio with views for days, but a girl's gotta make do with what she's got. I live above a Mochi shop that sits on the boardwalk along the river, and it's humble and it's tiny but it's mine, oh so mine. I've got hand embroidered cushions, crystals of all shapes and sizes placed in strategic places, tapestries swooped across the ceiling and down the walls, incense and candles, an envy inducing record collection, and a speaker set up that should have cost me my soul but didn't because I hit up the flea markets for months and I'm tight with an audio technician who does repairs in Ziara (I haven't always lived here, alright?) AND I'm really good at haggling. Like, scary good. Also, who can resist these eyes? Few, my friend, very very few. Which is also how I got my other prized possession: my vintage shag rug that I keep in immaculate condition. I sleep in a hammock I got during an exchange trip to the Sacred Lands, and this fur is glossy with all organic oils, washed in all locally sourced soaps, combed out to perfection. I don't live lightly.

Now, you might be thinking, hold on now, did she just say "exchange trip?" This girl has been to college and is still working dawn to dusk at a bath house, on an island full of farmers where folks with college degrees usually only go to retreat from it all? And before you get any further down that train of thought: a girl does not discuss her choice in college degrees or how you can't make s- excuse my language, you can't make anything at un-said profession until you move up several levels and how student loans don't give you that kind of time. So I've been living my life, stacking up my coins (ok, ok, at first I was really bad about saving my coins and kind of spent everything that wasn't going into payments into fleshing out this apartment but hey. I need someplace to BE after this job. You do not even know. And I've grown up and gotten much much wiser with my pennies, ok?) and before long you gonna be SEEING this name. Let me tell you. I'm not 'bought to tell you where, but I'm about to blow this joint, and then you'll see.

I tried to disappear as completely as possible when I moved here - an auntie got me the job, and look, I'm grateful, but I didn't want any of my college friends catching me in here. Sometimes I still have to doge them, but a few of them know. It's unavoidable I guess. They just think I'm putting my gains into a private project that I'll soon unleash upon the world. I'm not actually that independent though. I need the group to feed my inspiration. Sometimes, when I go into the city, or when I'm in the middle of a crowd at a concert, I can feel this thing in me, wide open and wanting, longing, reaching out for something MORE. Wishing my path had been a little easier, a little cushier, that I'd had a little more handed down.

In those moments, I just gotta ground myself. Remind myself where and who I am. That I've got it sorted and planned, and I've done the best I can with the tools available to me. That I'm on the rise. That the Universe wants me to rise, and I will make my way in it.
