Lady Robyn Trevelyan

"Honestly? This is exhausting."

Lady Robyn Trevelyan, who prefers to just go by Robyn, is the youngest daughter of Bann Viktor Trevelyan and Lady Karoline Trevelyan. Born in 9:12 Dragon and the fourth child of House Trevelyan, Robyn was not expected to be the child to inherit the title of Heir. Robyn knew that her parents expected her to follow the path of her older brother Cecil - to become one of the Templars for Order or become a cleric for the Chantry, both of which would be very much against her own wishes. However, to their ignorance and what would definitely be against their desires, Robyn decided to become apart of the underbelly of Ostwick and learned how to be a rogue through some people who called themselves the "Friends of Red Jenny". She stole from the rich in the dark alleyways of the city-state and picked the locks to their homes when they were enjoying their parties with the other wealthy families in Ostwick to help the poor. It was unheard of for someone of such high stature to become one, but Robyn was adamant in doing so - wanting to help the people her parents would not.

Robyn knew her parents were, thankfully, oblivious to it. She knew that she would be disowned without a second thought by them if they learned about it. Not destined to become the Heir made her more of a second thought for them, but if word got out that she was doing that, their name would be sullied among the populace. In her youth, she was not good at hiding she was doing it - trinkets showing up in her room that the chambermaids noticed were not there before. Her eldest sister, Rosaline, whom Robyn had a strained relationship with, had heard whispers that wisps of platinum blonde hair would be found in houses that were recently pillaged for valuables, and hearing the rumors among the chambermaids about the new, shiny trinkets in Robyn's room, it wasn't long before she connected the dots.

Cornered by Rosaline, Robyn furiously denied it was her, but her eldest sister could see right through her. Although they were not on the best of terms, Rosaline made Robyn make a promise: stop making it obvious it was her and she would not speak a word of it to their parents. In exchange for some pocket change Robyn made from selling what she pocketed, her eldest sister kept her promise to not tell a soul. This went on for several years without a hitch, much to Robyn's surprise. Not even her older brothers - the second and third children of her parents - knew about it. Whether Rosaline swore them to secrecy or not was unknown to Robyn. But, because of this, she grew very close to her older sister, and they supported one another in their own endeavors. Robyn would hear out Rosaline's complaints about being the heir and how annoying she found the other lords and ladies of Ostwick. In return Robyn would tell her stories of the drunken, wealthy sods she found in the streets to pocket money from and the scandalous actions that they would get into as Robyn watched from the shadows.

However, Robyn would never learn if her older brothers knew what she was doing in the shadows or not. Her oldest brother, Garrett, who was ten years older than her and a Grey Warden, was called upon to help deal with the blight in Fereldan during 9:30 Dragon. He died at the hands of the Darkspawn at Ostagar. Cecil, the third child and four years older than Robyn, was a Templar and worked closely with the Circle of Magi in Ostwick. They were somewhat close, but he viewed her as a disappointment when she outright told their parents that she would not be joining the Chantry or the Templar Order after the death of Garrett in 9:30 Dragon and right on her 18th birthday during that year. With her family broken over the death of Garrett and the so-called 'dismissal' of her duties, Robyn stayed away from her home - opting to stay and live with her friends in town. She cared not to return unless she truly had to, which was typically at the behest of her older sister. Rosaline would send a bird with a missive for her to return once a year - on Robyn's birthday - so that they could celebrate it together.

Following the years following Garrett's death, Robyn felt her connection with her family fading away. Her mother and father rarely sought out after her, and Cecil made his presence known less and less. In 9:34 Dragon, Rosaline had married one of the sons of another Bann and brought the two families together. Robyn did attend the wedding out of respect for her eldest sister, but stayed away from the crowd as much as possible - not wanting to interact with her family or extended family. In their little part of Thedas, there was a small bit of peace and quiet.

This peace, however, would not least long. Kirkwall, which was one of the major city-states to the west of Ostwick, was on the verge of a war between the Templars and the Mages. Cecil was sent to Kirkwall to help aid the Templars, and Robyn had watched his ship depart in 9:35 Dragon. For the years that followed, Robyn continued on her missions as a Friend of Red Jenny - doing what she could for the people of Ostwick, no matter who they were. Hushed whispers about the destruction of the Chantry in Kirkwall and the Kirkwall Rebellion that rose from it between the Templars and the Circle Mages filled the streets of Ostwick in 9:37 Dragon, and those who supported the Chantry began to show distrust in the mages at the Ostwick Circle of Magi, who were staying neutral about the whole situation. There was a knot of worry in her chest over her brother, and although she did not believe in Andraste or the Chantry's preaching of the Maker, Robyn prayed that he would survive.

When 9:40 Dragon came around, Robyn received a letter from Rosaline. Her eldest sister begged Robyn to return home for a brief time, stating that there was urgent business at hand. With little reason to not accept, Robyn arrived at the villa to hear her sister out. With a toddler bouncing on her knee, Rosaline told Robyn that she must find Cecil and bring him home after the meeting at the Temple of Sacred Ashes - a meeting that will be known as The Divine Conclave. Cecil had been sent there as one of the many Templars to represent the Templar Order, but Rosaline expressed that she had a horrid feeling in her gut about it. She would go, as their parents would prefer she went to represent the family alongside several of their aunts and uncles, but with her child, she could not. Robyn, a bit wary at going to meet her brother again, but not wanting to force her sister to go and split her from her family, accepted to go in her stead.

Little did she know what would come of that.

Robyn Trevelyan, a rogue human who joins the Inquisition shortly after the events of The Conclave. She can come off as crude and sarcastic, tending to be foul mouthed towards authority and has a tendency to distrust them as well. She is, however, kindhearted towards those who need help, and is slightly curious about magic and the Fade - never being able to conjure magic nor recall her dreams in the Fade. Unlike most humans, she does not care for the Maker, and does not follow the Chantry - caring not for religion and finding it to be a partial reason as to why the Mages rebelled. She did not reach the Temple of Sacred Ashes before it was destroyed. Her brother, Cecil, survived as well, since he had gotten caught up in handling some affairs in Redcliffe, and had never made it to The Conclave. Robyn heard about the destruction of the Temple of Sacred Ashes from the townsfolk in Redcliffe, and learns about a group of forces gathering near a town called Haven to seal the Breach - a massive green tear in the sky that was causing rifts across Thedas that was spewing out demons from the Fade.

It is in Haven that Robyn meets with her brother, Cecil, for the first time since 9:30 Dragon. Ten years have passed, and even though there is still a rift between them, both are glad to see the other safe. From there, she joins the Inquisition in helping seal the Breach alongside Cecil. She meets the Herald of Andraste - a Dalish Elf named Lyari - who is reluctant to accept his position, but wants to help out if he can. The two become fast friends, and Robyn eventually becomes a stalwart companion of his.
