Grandmas are wonderful
They are always filled with so much love, wisdom AND they come packed with cookies!

Lily would always offer un tecito (a cup of tea) and pan fresco (fresh bread)
In Perú, where Lily comes from, there is a special time between el almuerzo (lunch time) and la cena (dinner time) that we call el lonche
This is the perfect time to enjoy a nice cup of tea or a cup of coffee and fresh bread with your choice of spread. Typically butter and ham!
Lily enjoys el lonche, and so do all other elephants
During this time the air is filled with the aroma of fresh bread
Maybe heaven, too, has the scent of fresh bread? Lily thought
The little elephants in Lily's herd had a chat about heaven one day
"Papá está cuidando de tí desde el cielo"
"Father is looking out for you from Heaven," the elder sister said to her siblings
You know that saying? Elephants can remember
They can always remember their loved ones
Pondering this, Lily thought about her herd and all the ones that had gone too soon.
Then a tear fell from her eye
Followed closely by a kind, warm and calming smile
And with a blink of an eye, Lily realized she was surrounded by puzzled looks
"¿Qué pasa? ¿Te sientes bien?" preguntaron los elefantes jóvenes
"What happened? Are you feeling well?" asked the young elephants
"Sí, me estaba acordando de una memoria," respondió Lily
"Yes, I was remembering a memory," Lily answered
With that, Lily started to tell the tales of elephants longed passed
Through celebrating and sharing their memories she kept them alive
All the young elephant's little eyes were sparkling
And their big little ears perked up as they listened
One day it will be Lily herself who will be remembered in this way
And a big parade will be held in her honor in the hearts and minds of all the elephants who hear her story
