Taiberius

Taiberius was born in the Grey District on Var Shaatah, and grew up rather poor. His father skipped out on them when he was a baby, leaving his mother to raise him by herself. She worked in a factory all day while Taiberius was in daycare or school, and spent her evenings with him. Taiberius was not very good at school, he wasn't very smart, and ended up being held back not just once but twice - once in elementary school and once in middle school. In highschool he got in trouble for fighting other students, and flunked out and never went back.

His mother insisted that if he wasn't going to school, then he needed to get a job. So he did got a job in a factory, but it didn't last long because he talked back to his supervisor. He'd gone through a few more jobs, always getting fired; either for being late or his attitude or for fighting. Then he discovered the fighting pits. People paid money and bet on fights, and the fighters were paid as well. That was right up his alley. So he went in and signed up to be a fighter.

For ten years he fought in the pits, earning quite the reputation as well as quite a bit of money(which he gave half of to his mother). Then one day after a particularly brutal win, a man approached him. It was Bartholomew Lockley, head of the Lockley Family. He asked Taiberius if he knew how to shoot a gun, to which Taiberius only laughed. Of course he did. Then Bartholomew asked if he wanted to make even more money. Taiberius's eyebrows rose in interest. Bartholomew went on to say he was looking for a body guard. Taiberius thought the gig couldn't be any worse than what he was doing, and he wanted to get his mother into a better district, so he took Bartholomew up on the offer.

Sure enough, Bartholomew needed a body guard, as one day when he and his family were coming out of a restaurant, there was a drive by shooting that was targeting Bartholomew. Taiberius jumped in front of Bartholomew and took aim on the people hanging out of the vehicle. He took a bullet to the shoulder and one to the upper leg, but managed to kill one of the men. Bartholomew was safe, but unfortunately his wife didn't make it.

Taiberius healed up and got a raise for what he had done. Bartholomew asked if there was anything else he could do for Taiberius, which Taiberius then asked to get his mother out of the Grey District. Sure enough, Bartholomew got an apartment for Taiberius's mother in the Lockley District. Taiberrius continued to work for Bartholomew, and even helped him extract revenge upon the Wright Family(who were the ones that killed Bartholomew's wife).

Recently, however, the Alliance took a keen interest in Bartholomew's daughter. Not wanting her to be taken away by the Alliance, Bartholomew hired mercenaries aboard the IAS Windrunner to keep her away from the Alliance. Rather than keep his loyal and most trusted guard by his side, he insisted that Taiberius go with his daughter to protect her. Taiberius would get a raise along with it, he'd said. Taiberius agreed, and told Bartholomew to send all of his earnings to his mother.

Since then he's been aboard the IAS Windrunner, acting as a body guard to Kenna, but also helping the crew out as a hired gun.

Bartholomew

"Of course, boss, I'll protect her with my life."

Bartholomew saw Taiberius in the Grey District Fighting rings and was so impressed with his ability and skill that he offered him a job. Taiberius feels he owes Bartholomew his life for that, and as such would protect Bartholomew with his life. In fact, he's taken several bullets for Bartholomew already, and has lived to tell the tale. But when Bartholomew had to send his daughter away with mercenaries, he decided to send Taiberius with as well to protect her. Taiberius didn't really want to, but orders are orders, and he'd do anything his boss told him to do.

Draven

"Drugs aint good for ya, kid. You aren't aware of what's going on around you."

Taiberius knew Draven when he was a kid, and had seen what drugs and alcohol did to him growing up. He knows his boss doesn't like the fact that his own child does drugs, but how could he fault him for it when he did the same thing at that age? Taiberius keeps trying to convince Draven to get off drugs, but the kid just wont listen.

Kenna

"And you think I want to? Hardly. But it's what your father decided, and I follow orders."

Kenna was always a sweet girl, and a daddy's girl growing up. But she had visions, and the Alliance collected people like that. Bartholomew didn't want to lose his baby girl to the Alliance, because who knew what the Alliance did with Oracles, so he sent her on the IAS Windrunner with a mercenary group who was known to avoid and fly under the Alliance radar. Taiberius was tasked to go along with and protect her.

Ronin

"I'm here to protect Kenna, that's it."

Taiberius had troubles following Ronin's orders, because he was always the defiant one. The only person's orders he'd follow was his boss's orders. And his boss's orders were to protect Kenna... not to help load or unload cargo or whatever else Ronin would tell him to do. But recently he's been interested in the goings on of the ship, particularly the crime aspect.

Jasper

"I gotta say, I respect your loyalty to your boss."

Jasper reminds Taiberius a little of himself in his unwavering loyalty to his boss. Other than that, he thinks Jasper is a bit stiff and ridged, too clean shaven and proper. But he was at least able to keep up with Ronin, who seemed to make things up on the spot and improvise a lot.

Alexandria

"Don't tell me what to do, little girl."

Taiberius gets along with her well enough, so long as she's not telling him what to do. He respects her ability to keep the ship afloat the way she does, and appreciates that she's made and effort to make Kenna feel welcomed.

Ulysses

"That so? Maybe I'll join them as a hired gun too while I'm here."

Taiberius respects Ulysses's ability to fly, as well as his good nature. He was the one to convince Taiberius to think about going with Ronin and Jasper on their missions, because at least it got him some action, which was better than just sitting around playing baby-sitter.

Cyrus

"These tattoos tickled compared to being shot."

Cyrus is a quiet guy with a slightly awkward personality. Taiberius doesn't know him all that well, nor does he really seem to care to.

Helaena

"What's a man gotta do to get with a woman like you?"

Taiberius thinks Helaena is super hot, and after hearing that she had been a courtesan on the Core Planets, he constantly makes remarks about getting with her, always being brutally shot down. Of course that doesn't deter him from doing it. It's become a game to him at this point.

Ingrid

"I'm not paid to be emotional."

The only thing he really cares about is that she feeds them, and that she's making an effort to befriend Kenna(who Taiberius thinks could use it).
