Walking into her room, you would think nothing of the little girl, Emily, sitting on the floor and drawing. Upon further investigation however, you begin to wonder... what exactly is she drawing? A grotesque black creature with a white face and flames erupting from where its ears would be... A frightening concept, but surely this monster is not what she had in mind when she drew it. She is only 7 after all; she couldn't have practiced art for very long.

You shrug it off and invite her to play a game of paddycake, but she declines, saying she is busy with her dear "Niff". You notice she can speak surprisingly well for her age before saying your goodbyes and mentioning you will be in the other room. As you turn around, you hear the pages of her notebook flutter and you feel heat on your back... That can't be right. Perhaps you imagined it... but when you turn around you see that the sensations were real. Singed papers fly around the room as the heat dissipates. As Emily doesnâ€™t seem to have noticed anything out of the ordinary, you decide it was a hallucination and you head off to drink a glass of water.

When you are ready to head home, you decide to say one last goodbye and ask her an IOU for that game of paddycake. While you're walking down the hall, you hear heavy breathing coming from her room, as if a large animal was there. Another figment of your imagination? You can hear her singing amongst the breathing...

"Paddycake, Paddycake, bakerâ€™s man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Roll it, pat it, mark it with a B,
Put it in the oven for the baby and me!"

You trip as you rush towards the door. These are no dreams or tricks. As you flee the house, you hear her childish laughter behind you.
