History

There exists a solitary sakura tree, seemingly planted peculiarly alone, gazing over the expanse of a natural lake fronting an old shinto shrine. Of course there were innumerable trees on the land, alongside the shrine to entice guests to visit every spring, however this tree was quite secluded. Her roots sunk deep beneath the earth and no person ventured move it, for it appeared to be the perfect place for such a majestic tree. Even elders of the shrine have no records of when such a tree first came into existence. There always radiated a warm, tranquil feeling encompassing this tree, peacefulness enveloping the small area. The town saw prosperity with rich farmland and citizens were some of the happiest in all of the land. Residing in this land was proven to lengthen life, and luck was unusually prominent in anything from games of chance to lotteries. However, such was never taken advantage of because a soothing wind always placated hearts and peace prevailed.

This is where Kaori Yutaka observes, trapped within her prison.

Seasons move gradually for her, yet if she chanced sleep she risks the chance of elimination from this world-- mortals foolishly affecting things beyond their comprehension. She gazes as children grow, marry, and in turn have children of their own. Centuries pass as she lasts, unchanged from the day of her inflicted sentence. Were she to age, it would remain slow regardless. Dragon's blood still races in her veins, though, only apparent when she appears human. At this time she surely does not. Her arms, branches, her fingers, twigs, her voice rides with the wind and her feet linger forever tangled as roots in the earth.

Yet she offers everything to this world, her power permeates the land and she enjoys this existence to at least have happiness around her. She never complained, her crime worth this unending punishment. Yet finally Spring comes, and she feels the bud of flowers across her branches, only a few short minutes before her first bloom begins and she can truly be free even if for only a couple of weeks. Excitement builds as she grasps for the threads of hope once more. To truly breathe in fresh air and see with her own eyes...
