Li Li and she comes from Myanmar, previously known as Burma. Li Li ( Pronounced Lee Lee ) means Little Beauty and she was captured in the mountains of Burma as a young pup and sold to an exotic animal broker who brought her to Los Angeles illegally to be sold in the black-market. Her new owners quickly learned that owning an exotic pet was extremely difficult due to her unique diet and her need to have a large outdoor play area. Red Pandas are a protected species, owning one is a criminal offense. When Li Li became sick from eating a diet that was exclusively kibble and from being kept in a small cage, the owners realized that they could not take her to a veterinarian without criminal prosecution. Their solution was to drive Li Li far away from LA, up into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada between Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks and abandon her to fend for herself.That's where I come in. Watchers from the Woodland Council observed her arrival, quickly took action, rescued Li Li, and made her a part of our world of wee creatures. I was able to find foods here in our forest that she liked to eat and able to find a place for her to fit into our culture. Li Li is a free creature now and she will never have to suffer the ignominious designation of "pet." And although there are no other of her kind here in Glen Meadow, Li Li has found love and plans to marry one of her rescuers, Captain Billy Woodfern of the Watcher Corps.
