Moshe-Moriel
The door creaked open, and Moshe-Moriel climbed up the shelves of the closet. It was the home's supply closet, each shelf dedicated to various uses: cleaning, towels, and crafts. On the third shelf, which was just out of reach given the child's height, was the coveted item: glue.
He leaned forward and wrapped chubby fingers around the item before plopping back down on the floor. Closing the door, he took off as fast as his little legs would take him, hurrying back to the scene of the crime.
After he got to the end of the hallway, an idea occurred to him: what if he was making a lot of noise with his running and calling attention to his antics? One of his older siblings would surely notice, and being icky adults, they would be nosy, ask what he was up to, and might scold him afterward.
He got down on his hands and knees -- glue still held tightly in his right hand -- and crawled down the hallway. He paused at doorways, whether they were open or not, listening and looking to make sure no one was following.
When he got to the kitchen, which consisted mostly of open spaces and would be harder to hide in, he paused at the doorway. Moshe-Moriel took careful stock of the room, noting the placement of the furniture, and he prepared his plan of attack.
Then, almost without consciously realizing it, he was off. His body was apparently more prepared than his mind, but before he knew it, he was weaving between kitchen chairs and hiding behind dangling towels.
Breaking free of the open space in the kitchen, he finally arrived at his destination: the formal dining room. His sister had told him a million times to not run through there and to be more careful, but he had ignored her warnings. He really didn't mean to be so clumsy. Accidents just happened, and unfortunately, they happened a lot when he was around.
He sat down next to the shiny red vase that had once held fresh-cut roses. He had already cleaned those up and set them aside. Luckily, the vase was made out of a heavy material, and when he had crashed into the table it was on earlier, it had only knocked a chunk off of it. It would be completely irreparable if it had shattered.
Sitting down next to it, he stood the vase up and readied the glue to line it along the broken edge. Then he heard it. The tell-tale heavy steps that indicated that he had been found.
Without turning around, he simply tilted his head back and looked up the very tall body of his eldest brother.
Uh-oh. Caught!
